Twice in this book does it say if a person wants to connect with the power of runes they will need to know *all* of the history and mythology that goes with each rune, each god or goddess that is associated with the rune, and all the stories that go along with it.
However, as an "Ultimate Guide" it fails to provide this information. In the second, sixth, and seventh chapters there are severe infodumps, and while it seems the author has some knowledge, there are no sources. In chapter 3, the chapter about the runes themselves, you will learn their symbol, their colors, the word they represent, divination meanings and magical uses (which may consist of just 'protection'). You might also get a few paragraphs that essentially repeat the same thing. In the chapters 4 and 5 (Uses and Runes & Magic) no real information is given except a blurb on how to do a rune casting.
Overall, rather upset I bothered to read this. Some decent information but the format it is laid out in is just sad.

This book is one that I will read reread and use as a tool. It was easy to understand and had a lot of information that I found that I could use . If you are intrigued by Runes I think you will like it.

Interesting read

The history is in depth and well rounded and the detailed information on the runes is helpful and a welcome tool for the ancient arts that are making a comeback!

My mom bought me a set of runes for Christmas and it came with this book.

While the book did give a good amount of information on runes, their possible roots in history, and their meanings in divination and magic, it could benefit from a more thorough editing job.

I found numerous sentences that were accidentally using periods instead of commas (ex: The Elder Futhark. Originated in this region). Some sentences were seemingly accidentally repeated multiple times throughout. The author fluctuates between using B.C. and B.C.E. constantly. Even the back cover says “Scroll up to get your copy now”, as if it’s a website description.

Lastly, I still don’t feel that the connection to the Celtic people was enough to justify using nearly half of the book to give a cursory history on them. I’m here for the runes, ya know?

I feel the writing of this book was inadequate in conveying the information. Sentence structure was terrible. Information was jumbled together so it seemed like the author just rambled. I also don't feel the book was an "ultimate guide" to anything. She didn't say anything about how to use runes for magic. She said repeatedly that you CAN'T use them for fortune telling so I don't know why that's even part of the title above.

Quick read

This is a short book that gives an overview of what runes are and their history. I wish in went into more detail about the meaning of Each Rune rather than just a select few. It would have been helpful to have pictures of what each tune looks like as well.

I found this book to be very helpful and started me on a path of self discovery.

Only objection I had was there was a link in the book that lead to no where.
Overall this is an excellent source for ruin history.

Not enough information on runes, too much information about the irrelevant history.
