Quotes of Passion

Rate this book
“How do I love thee? Let me count the ways…”; “A rose by any other name would smell as sweet…”; “Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou, O Romeo…”

These quotes are quite famous for any student of either literature or love. The first quote is from Elizabeth Barrett Browning, and the last two are from the great William Shakespeare himself.

Do you want to drop a morsel of sweetness into your lover’s ear? Do you want to ignite their passions with a well placed verse? This book achieves the same as the quotes above with snippets of longer poems written by Robert R Gibson, the PassionPoet, as well as small potent love verses called ‘Wordshines.’

The term ‘Wordshine’ was coined by the object of Robert’s affection while he was trying to court her by dropping a short freestyle poem into her electronic ear (he was using BlackBerry Messenger at the time) every morning, which was kept up for approximately three months. She said that it was like a burst of sunshine in her inbox using words, so she started calling them ‘wordshines.’

Near the end of the first month, she asked if he was keeping the poems and storing them - which, prior to this, he had not. The joy of creating and having her smile was his only reward. However, at her insistence, he kept the next two months of work in a file. Some of them are now in this volume.

This book is a potent addition to the Cassanova’s arsenal. In it are droplets of literary gold that have been panned from the river of Passion’s words. The mix of snippets and wordshines comes together to form a gold mine of sensual and romantic treasure that will be valued for all time!

Robert R. Gibson is a Barbadian writer that enjoys painting sensual images with his words. Although sensuality is his main forte, in his own words he says, "Passion is not always about sex." Passion is anger, sorrow, enthusiasm - his poems are written to evoke intensity. He has published four anthologies of sensual and romantic poetry: EROTIC, OFFERING, SEDUCTION and QUOTES OF PASSION, which are all available on Amazon.

In 2011, Robert entered the National Independence Festival of Creative Arts (NIFCA), the national arts festival of his native Barbados with three poems – Luscious, Rain, and Goblet. All three of the poems achieved awards – Luscious received a silver award, and Goblet and Rain received bronze awards. He also received the Most Promising Poet award for the year.

In 2012, Robert entered NIFCA again and his poem Tribute received a bronze award and yet again in 2016, receiving a bronze for his piece Naniki: Frank Collymore Hall 2016.

His poetry has been published in the National Cultural Foundation’s (NCF) Winning Words anthology in Barbados, the Caribbean Writer and the online St. Somewhere Journal E-zine.

As the spoken word artist PassionPoet, Robert tantalizes his audience with the power of his poetry married to his baritone voice. Poetry is to be experienced, and PassionPoet brings the intensity of the erotic to his performances.

He is a prolific writer, uploading poems to his blog at http://www.PassionPoet.com. His work can also be seen on his FB fan page PassionPoet at http://www.facebook.com/PassionPoet246. He also has a SoundCloud page where he has recorded some of his work, at https://soundcloud.com/passionpoet.

Another great body of work!

Snippets of some of my favorite poems written by Mr. Gibson that still touch the heart and the senses. Another masterpiece of intense proportions.
