The loss of Muslim Spain is perhaps the greatest tragedy in Islamic conquest history. It is, perhaps, less on grounds of the loss of the Muslim Empire’s territorial hold on key European land, and more by the loss of the academic treasures, geniuses, brainpowers, savants, and talents that were forever trampled under the hooves of Ferdinand’s horses. The progenies of nations that learn not from their history remain forever clenched in torments and events similar to their ancestors. And the world is witnessing this today. The mournful echoes from the haunted palaces of Granada and Alhambra resonate wretchedly through the ravaged and burnt Muslim lands around the globe. Naseem Hijazi’s novels were written over sixty years ago and yet his words resound in present day like gongs of the Day of Judgement that one is forced to listen to even through covered ears. In translating this work, no names or events have been changed. Save a few secondary and supporting characters, all the rest of the detail is real, as are the struggles and victories of the main character Yusuf Ibn Tashfeen and other Muslim leaders, kings, viziers, and premiers in key positions. Yusuf Ibn Tashfeen is the first book in the series of how Muslim Spain gradually lost its stronghold on a lamp that had lit the world when all else was submerged in utter darkness and gloom. Yusuf Ibn-Tashfeen, the dynamic Muslim Mujahid, a Berber by ethnicity, was summoned by the Spanish Muslim emirs as a buttress when their already floundering kingdoms started to crumble in the face of the gradually strengthening Spanish Reconquista led by King Ferdinand II of Aragon and Queen Isabela. Naseem Hijazi’s works are classics and this book has been translated with the hope that it will reach more readers and inspire as they were written to inspire. Whether or not the readers of this work are influenced by Hijazi's writing on the wall is a matter of choice.

As always a masterpiece by Naseem Hijazi sahab!! An eloquent detail about the reasons of the downfall of Muslims and their uprising after a great turmoil. But alas!! History keeps on repeating itself. Names have changed but the personalities are same, having the same aftereffects. Thank you Sir for bringing it to the front. It definitely intrigued me to read more about the details of history of Spain.

Another one of Naseem Hijazi. I've never been a fan of history until i started reading him . There's so much we don't know that Muslims have accomplished around the world. They conquered cities and countries so courageously that it should be revised in the syllabus of our future kids. So that they can learn and understand the importance of freedom And also about the life of the pioneers in Islamic history . These are the unsung heroes that we all should talk about .

A tribute to the unsung heroes of Andalusia, this historical fiction weaves the stories of composite characters. The book follows Abdul Munim and his clan as they witness their homeland’s fall into corruption under طوائف الملوکی, leaving it vulnerable to invaders like Alfonso. As despair grows, the youth of Andalusia, led by Yusuf bin Tashfin, rise to restore dignity and true governance.

All chapters are well connected. Found last half more interesting cause it captured the war scenes. First book on history of Andalusia so had to draw a map for better understanding. I liked how Ahmed's character developed. From being a nerdy poet to a devoted soldier. Would recommend it esp. to those Urdu readers who have not touched the subject yet. Message is quite insightful.
Incompetent Hedonist blood sucking leeches sitting on thrones are equally dangerous as an invader.
Eliminate the traitors within before fighting enemies.
Without accountability no nation can progress.
Sycophants in any age contributes immensely in destruction of a society.

Few disagreements with opinion of writer.
Blaming Malka for Al-Mutamid’s downfall overlooks the truth. If a man is easily swayed, the fault lies more in him than in others.
Also this is not the ultimate book on history of Spain and can have historical errs.

Studied from book that I borrowed. Print was eww. Cover is okay. Don't know about recent price.

New words I learnt: Quite a few but favs are رجل عظیم, محاسن and esp.

This was the only book I was able to find on Yousaf Bin Tashfeen. Most of our history writers have written alot about our other famous heroes like Muhammad Bin Qasim, Mahmood Ghaznavi, etc but Naseem Hijazi has also paid attention to the lesser known eras of Islamic history. He has written about the rise and fall of Islamic Empire starting from 'Kafla-e-Hijaz'(Khulfa-Rashidin era) to 'Khak-o-khoon'(A story of partition of subcontinent).

What an amazing book about heroes of Islam. What a Muslim hero Mr. Yusuf bin Tashfin was and his companions. One forgets and leave every thing of good and modern life of that time and went to Africa which was under develop at that time. Just for the sake of his own people. Ahhh what mujahid they were. If some one is interested in reading history of Spain and Muslims they should read this book
