I want to start off by saying I don't do spooky. But as I have read the books in the Ship Wreck series by this author and found them entertaining with the spooky side not giving me nightmares, I gave this one a try. First of all, it had more of an element of spooky, but the real story was far more scary. An absolutely deranged psychotic ex-husband is determined to kill his wife. After suffering from years of physical and mental abuse, Kara divorces him and he immediately starts seeking revenge. This book kept me up at night, not from fright but from all of the tension and drama. Having moved into the home she purchased before her marriage, Kara finds hidden rooms, secret passages, and an old diary with a chilling tale. This story played out from one crisis to the next until the final shocking ending!
