The second book in the Juniper Creek series this was so sweet and lovely! This story follows Maggie as she struggles to feel at home with her new foster family and questions whether she is truly wanted. But through unconditional love and the support of caring friends, Maggie discovers that she can’t outrun her foster family’s love, just like how she can’t outrun the love of Jesus. So beautiful! 🥹

I love how this book shows what being a good friend looks like, especially in difficult situations. The relationships between the characters, both children and adults, are filled with genuine kindness and compassion. There is so much to love about this book, especially the cozy holiday setting during Thanksgiving and Christmas! 🎄

The ending had me immediately reaching for the next book!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. My review reflects my honest opinion.

This second book was just as good as the first one (Girl in the Barn). Maggie's story continues and again, from the very first page, I wanted to know what was going to happen and couldn't put it down. I also loved getting to know the rest of the characters in a deeper way and enjoyed how this story progressed. The pace is just right and this book is great at bringing up questions everyone has when going through something hard. Reading this along side your middle school aged kid will be great for discussions about important topics and things like faith and trust. You will not regret reading this series!
