Seducing the Sun Fae

Rate this book
A dark shifter alpha. A glittering fae queen. A game of seduction that only one can win...

Dion, alpha of a shapeshifting river fada clan, has had enough. The sun fae queen has seduced several of his best warriors, leaving them fit for little but fishing and drinking wine, and draining life-energy from all his people in the process. Then comes the final straw—she ensnares his youngest brother. It’s time to turn the tables on the shallow, pleasure-loving queen.

Cleia is a two-hundred-year-old fae whose powerful glamour gets her any man she wants. But she’s bored. She wants something more—and the river fada men have it. So when she meets the big, untamed river alpha, she sets out to seduce him, even though something whispers this man is dangerous. She all but orders him to her bed.

That’s just what Dion is counting on…

Welcome to one of the causes of global warming! Grab your ice water, a fan and hang out the do not disturb sign because this fantasy romance is a scorcher filled with tension, clan disputes, flying accusations and enough sensual tension to cut a diamond! Seducing the Sun Fae by Rebecca Rivard doesn’t start out slow and easy, within just a few pages we are thrown in, headfirst into one hot alpha leaders plan to force the Sun Fae’s queen into righting the wrongs she has committed against the Fada river shifter clan. What he didn’t expect was that his power of seduction may have met its match in the vibrant and beautiful Sun Fae. One darkly handsome and powerful alpha and one equally powerful, yet surprisingly kind queen, two races who know little but rumors about each other, sounds like the perfect recipe for further investigation, all in the name of full disclosure and good policy, right? So, of course, private negotiations are in order, but will the truth set them free or will it bind them in ways they could never have imagined? Is Cleia an evil seductress or will Dion be the planned seducer? Passions run deep…

Did Rebecca Rivard use a blowtorch to pen Seducing the Sun Fae? One thing for sure, she has met a wonderful balance between plot and playtime, as she makes each page fly by. Well written, filled with conflict, humor and some very personable characters, her world is a magical place to visit, whether you prefer the light and sparkle of the fae or the bold, rock solid existence of the Fada, this is great fantasy, spiced to perfection.

I received this copy from Rebecca Rivard in exchange for my honest review.

Seducing the Sun Fae definitely raised the heat in my house around 10 degrees! Rebecca Rivard creates a pairing that you won't soon forget (I know I haven't) between the Sun Fae Queen, Cleia, and the River Fada Alpha Male, Dion. Their relationship is fraught with wanting and passion, and made deeper by the revelations they have about each other and their clans along the way. This story captivated me every step of the way: from the crystalline, airy world of the Sun Fae to the cool caverns of the river fada. I fell in love with the characters and enjoyed seeing their hidden layers revealed in the story. The author does a fantastic job of creating an exciting mythological fairy world which I can't wait to explore further in the next books! I highly recommend Seducing the Sun Fae. This is one book I would gladly read over and over...although my air conditioning bill may rise along with my heart rate! But it's worth it to escape into this incredible world of Rebecca Rivard's creation.

Cleia, Queen of the Sun Fae, has been enjoying taking the local River Fada (shapeshifters) as lovers for two decades or more. She loves them and then lets them go on their way back to their clan. And then never really considers them again. Dion, the Alpha of the River Fada, has noticed a subtle decline in the health of his clan and in the crops they produce to support them. He traces the problem, or so he thinks, back Cleia and devises a plan to make her stop what she's doing and to reverse the damage. His brilliant plan is to kidnap her and hold her until she agrees. Little does he know his troubles were just beginning.

I really enjoyed this book. Cleia and Dion and both strong individuals and leaders who want to take care of their people and see them happy and healthy. I found the other characters in the book to as interesting and look forward to reading future stories in this series.
Note: this story contains strong characters, and unexpected love, a mating, a little violence and treachery, some betrayal, and some hot smexy-times. I definitely recommend it..

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book was very close to me rating it 3 stars, mainly because the multiple POV’s, but the story line was able to help me decide it deserved more. Despite my distaste for multiple POVs.

The book as a whole was great, I just love fae books. The author does a good balance between details and emotions for the story. The characters were charming to say the least. I think the picture in my mind, Dion is quite attractive along with his personality.

For me it was a little slow at first, I put the book down a couple of times in the beginning before finally picking it up to get further into it. The more I read, the more the pace of the book picked up. I was able to guess some of the ending, but I am always trying to guess what is going to happen.

If I have anything bad to say about the book, it would only be I didn’t like how many POVs it had. Along with the editing issues, I found through it. Of course, that is at the fault of the editor, betas, or proofreaders. Other then that I have no complaints on this book.

Since this book is a series, I wouldn’t mind reading more of this world.

The author does a great job of weaving this magical story into a very real setting and I liked that I recognized some of the places as I read the book. For such a short book, the characters were fleshed out fairly well and there wasn't an overload of characters like some books I've read. The only issue I had was that I didn't understand why the river fada felt like the sun fae hated them so much, but every interaction proved otherwise. Dion kept insisting that the sun fae would leave the fada to starve or treat them in an inhumane way, but the sun fae welcomed them without a hint of prejudice. And for someone who is blamed with draining the fada's energy and pretty much ruining their lives, she's quickly welcomed into their clan (after doing a menial chore) as a prisoner with the exception of only one woman treating her with distrust. Maybe this will get fleshed out more in the next book!

I'm stopping at 20 percent, after giving it two shots to take me away. I just couldn't get into this book.
It is hard to follow. Bouncing around from present to past, people to people without any sort of acknowledgment to the reader. I really can't even grasp the setting on the story so the lack of visual and comprehension makes it difficult to read.
The characters often speak in another language (Portuguese I believe) which I often found annoying since I have no idea what they are saying nor is any sort of explanation given.
The smuttiness was about the only thing this book had going for it, but even that was pretty cheesy.

I really had high hopes for this after so many good reviews and ratings, but I was very disappointed. It is a hot mess.

What a wonderful first novel! A fantasy that is hot and steamy, and has a great story of tension between clans, not to mention the leaders of the clans. Sun fae and water fada make for more than just sparks when mixed. Are the sun fae too sophisticated to be able to communicate with the animalistic fada? It was fun to explore and it left me wanting more. Can't wait for the next novel!

I was thrilled when I received Rebecca Rivard ' s Seducing the Sun Fae for review. The cover is captivating and light and the premise intrigued me! Being a native from Baltimore I loved that it was based in Maryland.

As many of fans of Nerd Girl know I am a lover of the Fae and shifters so this book held my attention from the start. Her writing is captivating and original. With Maryland surrounding the bay and having lots of waterways and beaches it was only natural to have water based shifters!!

Dion is a Fada shifter, created long ago by a God mixing animals with the Fae. He is a strong leader of river fada clan but his clan is suffering at the hands of the sun fae Queen. Known for her beauty and her enticing spirit, Cleia has left many of Dion's clans man to their doom. Destined only to drink and fish they were no longer the strong warriors they once were. Thusly Dion's clan was suffering.

He set out to take revenge and make the fae queen give back what his clan has lost before it's too late. What he didn't anticipate is the strong spirit and inner power she possessed even when he took away his powerful light (the sun) from her.

If you love a good romance with very adult situation, check this book out. You will not be dissapointed!! Love love loved it#!

5 Stars and a tip of my #NerdGirl hat!!

Seducing the Sun Fae by Rebecca Rivard, wastes no time before the story gets hot, hot, hot. With strong world building and an original premise, Rivard has crafted a strong and sexy start to the Fada Shapeshifter series that was hard to put down.

The leaders of both the Sun Fae and Rock Run River Fada are well respected amongst their own clans but have preconceived notions about their neighbors. Is Cleia the shallow sun queen the river fada’s Alpha Dion believes her to be? Are Dion and his river fada clan as untamed and feral as Cleia thinks? And how do their rivals, the Baltimore earth shifters, factor into the mix?

When a kidnapping born of desperation takes place, nothing is as it seems.

Seducing the Sun Fae was a fun, tense, and steamy read. I liked how there was resolution to the main story, without a cliffhanger, but the promise of the future leaves much to look forward to.

Once I started reading this book, I COULDN'T PUT IT DOWN and read the whole thing in a day. Glad the crockpot was on already because otherwise there wouldn't have been any supper. Dion is an extreme alpha male of the sexiest kind! Cleia - well, stars....she's pretty hot herself. Loved the world building in this book. Who knew that river fadas could be so darn sexy! This isn't my usual genre to read and I am so glad I stepped out of my little niche. It was an adventure I won't soon forget. This is Rivard's first book in this series? I can't wait for the next one. I gotta get me a river fada! Spoil yourself and enjoy this new author.

A strong start to The Fada Shapeshifter Series by Rebecca Rivard.

Seducing the Sun Fae opens right into the heart of the story, with Dion determined to make Cleia right her wrongs for the past twenty years. Dion is the Alpha to the Fade Clan, a clan of river shifters, has seen over the years his warriors picked off, only to return to the clan less than what they once were. Cleia, the Sun Fae Queen, likes to have her fun, especially with the Fada men.

With a seduction gone wrong and a desperate kidnapping, what else could go wrong?! War, famine, death and traitors are looming in the horizon.

A sweet and spicy read for lovers of paranormal romance. I received an ARC via Netgalley.

Had me Totally Enthralled!!!!

I finally decided to start reading this series and from the beginning this book had me engulfed in their pages it was hard to come up for air. All the twists and turns in the story, all the fighting emotions to what was wanted. You could not help but laugh at the little ones, cry for the pain that was going on.

There was even a few times I was contemplating throwing things at the author. You could feel the love these leaders had for their people and how each one of them thought they knew what was best. This is a must read story, so grab some tissue and be prepared not to put the book down.

LOVED this book and didn't put it down until I was completely finished!! Rivard wrote her characters into a heck of a story that will go way beyond this book. Couldn't get enough of that sexy Dion :) I really liked Cleia even if she was supposed to be the bad guy to the shape shifters, you just couldn't help but like her. The story kept you locked in and eyes to the page! A must read if you like this sort of thing. Can't wait to read more by this author and hope that they're just as good! 5 stars from me and they don't come easy ;)

From the moment I started reading Seducing the Sun Fae I couldn't put it down! The author immediately gets you hooked into the worlds of the Sun Fae and River Fada with a kidnapping. The lives of the Sun Far and the River Fada are so different, constantly intertwined with conflict. But when their incredibly hot leaders are brought together their lives could possibly change forever. It was a great romance novel and I can't wait until the second one!

If you like the idea of magical communities colliding and extreme alpha-males, this is the book for you. Not only does the author introduce you to her own lore (the creation of the fada shifters) but she draws you in with what can be called political tension among the clans, foreshadowing subplots, and lots of the hanky-panky. And I mean LOTS.

Additionally, the book is well researched despite it being a fictional novel. The fact that she relied on real locations and he structure and build of said locations, helped bring the story to life. I'll never be able to look at the Chesapeake or Susquehanna again without thinking of her water fada and what adventures they may be on.

All in all a nice read but the book did fall short for me in a few areas. First the structure of the plot. The story starts off with an oh-so-hot sex scene between the two lead characters but then other oh-so-hot sex scenes are not repeated until the end of the book. Essentially, there's a sexless lull in the middle which I wouldn't have minded as much if the end of the novel wasn't used to make up for the lull. The story went from one hot sex scene to no sex to sex, sex, sex, sex.

The sex scenes were not evenly distributed is what I'm getting at. And considering that there was so MUCH going with the story line near the end (earth fada possible invasion, his younger brother Tiago betrayal and loss of love, etc) the sex scenes felt somewhat like a distraction. Now, I understand why the author set the story up like this but it still soured my taste buds a bit.

Beyond that, the female lead fell flat for me. Without spoiling too much, she is blindfolded for most of the story and so the majority (nowhere near all of it) of the story is told from the pov of the male lead. This made me feel like I didn't really know the character. Initially, she came off very spunky and head-strong but those characteristics dulled into a common gray by the middle of the book. I didn't really know who she was and so she fell flat for me as a character. Honestly, my favorite character was Tiago, the younger brother because his struggles and internal conflict made him seem the most real.

Lastly, the book had a lot of telling instead of showing which is one of my pet peeves. Here's an example (not directly from the book), "she jutted out her chin to show him she would not submit easily." As a reader, I would have preferred, "she jutted out her chin and starred him straight in the eyes." You don't need to tell me she was being defiant or refusing to submit. We, readers, are smart and can pick up on body language, as well as context. The writer is certainly good enough that she sets up the context for us so, I would have liked a little more trust in the readers and less telling.

To wrap this up, I hope to continue the series. It's a nice quick read but I'd love to see more character development, different plots and story lines (more than the typical romeo-juliet type) and a lot more fada. Nice read for a rainy afternoon. :)

Wow I mean double wow this was really interesting, now I am not a fan of Fae Books. Usually there is more to then just Fae there's Witches, Werewolves, Vampires but this book is Fae and Fada. Needless I have to say Ms. Rebecca wrote an extraordinary  book.
                  Definition of Fada
The Fada Shapeshifters created during Dionysus’s infamous bacchanals  from a mix of fae, human and animal genes. They’re ruthless, untamed— and irresistible to the one person fated to be their mate.

Dionísio do Rio aka: Dion is a Lord plus Alpha of the River Fada Clan at Rock Run. Thru the years he has lost many of men, his best warriors, oh they come back but they are completely different, it's like she drained there life energy, they are worthless. It's time for her to fix this whatever the Fae Queen has done to his men she will undo. Can he make her?
Cleia is a two hundred year old Queen Sun Fae who is so bored even if she can get any man with here glamour she wants more. So now she's going after the Alpha of the River Fada Clan and seduce him, she must have him in her bed. Queen Cleia doesn't understand or believe she is stealing there life energy and decides to look into it. What will she find?

A great fae romance and beginning to a series. Fada and fae may live near each other, but they have nothing to do with each other if possible. At least that is what Dion, alpha of the Fada wished. Now his clan is slowly dying and it is the fault of the sun fae queen. But her has plans to make her stop and save his people. What he didn't expect is the feelings and the need he would have for her once he caught her. She doesn't know why the fada are dying but can she make him believe her? A fairytale in the making.

ESCAPE INTO A MAGICAL WORLD.

Rebecca Rivard has created a world where you can escape and just enjoy a fantastic read. She has created a world that leaves you breathless. Disregarding the sex, which is Hot!!, she has created a story that keeps you so engrossed that you lose track of time and everything else except the story. It is suspenseful, funny at times, very serious, and also lighthearted. No matter what genre you prefer, I'll bet you will fall in love with this series. Don't miss it. I have to run and get book two. Rebecca, one of the best fantasy books I have read.

Omg! "Seducing the Sun Fae" is a fantastic start to an amazing new fantasy world! I can't believe I bought this big novel so long ago & forgot to read & review it, since I've read the others afterwards. Always a unique storyline with awesome characters, witty dialogue and descriptions that make the book come alive :) I Highly recommend this to adult fans of fiction and all the phenomenal books by this author! Can't wait for more from Ms. Rivard!

Loving the enemy

Lord Dion knew he had to stop the loss of energy from his clan and decided that Cleia the Sun Fae queen was responsible. Knowing that she liked taking his kind water fada as lovers he thought that the best idea was to seduce her and then kidnap her. Readers should enjoy the tale of these two people complete with misconception and love. I would highly recommend this book.

You’re mine. Mine for this night. Mine forever. 5 GOLDEN SUNS

Oh. My. Lord. Cleia, I agree with you wholeheartedly!! What an OTTERLY FINTASTIC book!! This is one magically DOLPHINTASTIC start to this fascinating world of the Fada Shapeshifter series by Rebecca Rivard!! She has created this FAETASTIC world where numerous kinds of Fae, Shifters, Humans and more, all live, work, play, fight, love, hate & mate in. It is a well thought out world that is greatly detailed without being dry or boring. I felt like I was the one standing by the water, walking through Cleia’s palace grounds, living in the cave-like systems of Dion’s people, etc. The characters instantly grab your attention, begging to be liked & loved, or hated, depending which side of the good/bad scale they are on. I love that it is hard to tell which side the characters are on or if it is even that 'simple' and they are on one side only! I was enraptured from the product description, let alone from actually reading the book, and it is even better than I could have hoped for! I love ABSO-FAE-LUTELY everything about this book! It is a deep & enriched read, made even more so by the multi-dimensional characters, the perfectly described world, situations, characters, magics, histories of the different species, clans, families and the individual characters. You will find any & everything that you could ever want in a story - it is first in a series of many, it is a full-length novel (over 200 pgs on my tablet), it is loaded up with friendship, love, mates, hate, enemies, magic, powers, Shifters, Fae, adorable little ones, mysteries, evil plots, hot moments, ones to make you laugh and ones to make you cry and so much more!! I found myself living the story with the characters even before I knew if they were 'good' or 'bad', which didn’t even matter to me! In fact, I was even experiencing & living the story AS Cleia & Dion, pulling me even deeper into the story! Rebecca is one exceptionally talented author and while this is the first book of hers that I have read, she has me firmly caught in her net, captivating me to the point of obsession, so that all I could think about was this story, even long after I had finished it! In fact, I ended up reading it again because I just wasn't ready, I didn't want to, I COULDN’T let go of the beauty, magic & romance that gives this story such life and takes it from being “just a book to read” and turns it into one SUNDERFULLY FINTABULOUS adventure that I felt like I actually experienced and lived through myself! Yes, I truly was transported into the story, becoming the characters, feeling their pain, hope, panic, stress, worry and love. I credit this entire experience to the combination of Rebecca’s tremendous amount of talent and her genuine gift for crafting stories that touch & affect me wholly, utterly and completely, mind, body, spirit and soul!! I cannot wait to keep on reading this series as well as any other books the Rebecca writes both now and for years to come! And since I thankfully just discovered Rebecca, I don't have to wait too long to feed my addiction because books 2 & 3 are available! I say 'thankfully' because there is nothing 'worse' than finding a great new-to-me author whose story consumes me to the point I want to binge read all of her books and then I discover that I did just that because she only has one book out! :) All in all – This FAERRIFICALLY SHIFTACULAR book will hook you so fast that the next thing you know, you have completely lost touch with the “real” world and you are staring at those 2 little words that I hate so much – The End!! But the journey to get to there is soooooo very much worth losing sleep over! Yup! I did stay up ALL NIGHT reading & re-reading this book! And for the record, I enjoyed it even more the second time around!

Lots of shifters!!

I really enjoyed this book. It's the 1st I've read by author Rebecca Rivard, & it won't be the last. I can see why it has won awards. I haven't "seen" any dolphin, otter, shark or any other fish type shifter books. A dolphin shifter wouldn't normally interest me, but this book has convinced me that they can be alphas also. Beware that it does have kidnapping, wanted dominance, family betrayal, steamy sex, bigotry, loyalty, very sick child, happy ending with the main characters, but not so happy "family members" & more adventure to come. If you like Fae & Shifters, you'll enjoy this book.

Title: Seducing the Sun Fae
Series: The Fada Shapeshifters
Note: Book 1 and is a HEA with no cliffhanger
Author: Rebecca Rivard

This is my review of Seducing the Sun Fae, book 1 in The Fada Shapeshifters world. I got this first book in the series free through an Amazon purchase. This is the start of a great series but it does have its own ending. Be warned though you will not want to stop with just this one book and if you have not read the others you will want to read them right after this.

Meet the Fada, magical shapeshifters who can turn into magical creatures. They are looked down upon by most races because they are considered "mixed bloods". There are also the Sun Fae, magical men and women who seem to be the best of the best. This book follows Dion, who is alpha of the river fada, and Cleia, Queen of the Sun Fae. Dion thinks that Cleia is taking river fada as lovers in order to drain them, and their clan, of life energy. The men come back as shells of their former selves and the land the clan is on is producing less food and fish. It has gotten so bad that in order to survive the males of the clan have had to take up jobs as mercenaries just to keep their base running. Dion allows himself to "accidentally meet" the Fae Queen and she is instantly attracted to him and takes him as her lover for the night. Instead she wakes up blindfolded and in the lair of Dion who says he will return her to her people as soon as she returns the energy of the clan that she has been stealing. Dion and Cleia are very interested in each other and it only gets stronger the longer they are together. Cleia is stuck out of the Sun and is losing energy everyday and wasting away. Will she be able to get away? Will she be able to help Dion and the river fada with their problems because she does not even know how she could be stealing energy and denies it. We also meet Tiago, Dion's younger brother who was a lover of Cleia until she found out he was so young (wait until book 3). There is also Rui who came back a shell of the man he used to be and broke off his mating with Valeria so there is a lot of negativity towards Cleia in the clan (wait until book 2). Will they be able to stop the issues in time or will the Sun Fae risk falling because of the actions of Dion?

I loved this book and was sad when it was done. The great part is that it continues! You meet a good amount of people in this book and the author is so great at bringing the characters alive that you find yourself picturing them.

*This book was provided by the publisher/author for an honest review.

First, i have to say, it's a full length novel! I was so happy that it was a whopping 338 pages! I'm a fast reader and love a world i can stay in for a long time.

The best thing about Seducing the Sun Fae the originality of this supernatural world. The fae have become more and more popular lately and the usual standard in the subgenre is a male fae seducing the female lead. Seducing the Sun Fae features a feisty female fae, a very refreshing take on fae stories.

I also loved the focus on Dion, our male lead and a shifter, often times in romance novels the male characters aren't as well fleshed out as the female characters but Dion was a real person, a strong but caring alpha concerned about his people's welfare and seeking revenge for his brother.

Cleia wasn't very likeable at first so i was definitely rooting for Dion and his plan to capture her but as the story goes on she is humanized more and more. I really ended up loving her character.

I found nothing to dislike about Seducing the Sun Fae, i loved the Rock Run water shifters (called fada) and the energy consuming fae. It was a unique blend of Celtic and Greek mythology.

Overall, this debut novel was amazing, definitely a 5 star read
