The Supernatural Treasure Hunt The Ultimate Treasure Hunt leads believers into a supernatural lifestyle of Kingdom building. Author Kevin Dedmon captures the heart of witnessing and personal evangelism through his ministry where healing, miracles, and deliverance are regular occurrences. Based on biblical principles and personal testimonies, you will learn how the simplicity of hearing a word of knowledge from God leads you to clues for the treasure hunt. "...Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature" (Mark 16:15).Witnessing the love and saving grace of Jesus does not need to be invasive or argumentative; rather, it is a supernatural encounter when God reveals Himself in a specific way. The fun begins when you read the step-by-step guidelines for embarking on a successful, fulfilling "treasure hunt."
Excellent book! And I think this is a book that any Christian should read who is wanting to learn how to naturally live a supernatural lifestyle. It is calling me to walk in boldness, faith, in the prophetic, and in love. I am ready for a lifestyle change!
I absolutely LOVE this book. God embedded this desire/ concept of a treasure hunt in my heart years ago. Now I have a name and model to practice from, whether individually or with a team. Every time I picked up this book my heart burned with excitement. I can't wait to implement what I've learned. I particularly like that the author shared the discouraging times as well as the encouraging times along his journey to successful treasure hunting. Thank you Kevin Dedmon for writing such a simple practice guide to supernatural evangelism and revival. Well done good and faithful Servant.
"The Ultimate Treasure is the people who are just waiting to be discovered. They are those who desperately, and often secretly, need a real encounter with God in order to meet the overwhelming needs of their lives and the unfulfilled desires of their hearts. They are everywhere. They are in stores, businesses, neighborhoods, parks, schools, and even the church. They are everywhere we go. They are God's Ultimate Treasure." (Kevin Dedmon, The Ultimate Treasure Hunt, Page 25)
This book was recommended by Chris Overstreet in his book A Practical Guide to Evangelism. I do not regret reading it. It has an interesting method of evangelism. Interesting; however, practical. And a method that Christ himself implemented during His ministry.
The method is simple. Start with a prayer. List any words of knowledge God is giving you about locations, person's name, a person's appearance, what they might need prayer for... Then you go out and find these clues in your community and let the Holy Spirit lead you to the Ultimate Treasure, which are lost souls. You can share that you are on a treasure hunt and the clues have lead you to this person, even showing them your treasure map. You then build rapport, pray for them, prophesy over them and ask God's presence into their lives, in order to bring them to Christ. The book goes into better detail.
Another tool to bring the Gospel to our generation.
This was a fascinating book, about an unusual method of "street" ministry where people write inspired "clues" and use them to find people out in public, and heal them or minister to them in some way. The stories after stories of people being healed of actual ailments (not just the off one leg is longer than the other fallback) from simple encounters and prayers, is fascinating, especially as healings have started to happen in our church as well. This books focus is on these stories, but also the person going out, what it would take to trust enough to do this, take that risk, sometimes with no experience in healing before. I would have liked to have read.more on how they come up with their "clues" though there is a helpful index in the back.
What is power-evangelism? It's based off Scriptures like Romans 1:16 and 1 Corinthians 4:20 that emphasize God demonstrating his power when bring people to himself. Kevin Dedmon proposes doing what Jesus did: praying for the sick & fully relying on the Holy Spirit to authenticate the Gospel through a demonstration of power. What is treasure-hunting? Before you go out to evangelize, pray for God to show you the person he wants you to minister to and ask Holy Spirit to give you an encouraging word to them. This book is full of visual examples of how this works. I've started doing this and it's made sharing my faith less fearful and more like an adventure! I'll write a blog post soon sharing stories of my treasure-hunting experiences! I wanted him to share more personal stories which is why I gave it 4/5. You can always learn more ways to share your faith like 1 Peter 3:15 says and this book is 100% recommended!
I've used this with university students and led ultimate treasure hunts with amazing results. Probably the greatest impact is on the hunters who begin to realize that God is talking to them and they can trust that still small voice they are hearing. Second, it's so freeing to begin taking risks in our daily lives. Faith takes risks.
This books will change lives - the treasure hunters and those they find. I can't recommend this book highly enough.
Wonderful. God even gave me a treasure to go seeking as I read the book ... and before I even had the book God gave me a person's name and I went up to her and spoke to her, giving her a copy of my autobiography of testimonies to the resurrection power of Jesus. So He prepared the way for you book so I can be intentional rather than it just happening from time to time. I'd been praying about whether to just go to a mall or not, so the book was helpful. Thanks.
Really awesome book about sharing the gospel!!!! I loved the stories in this book about so many evangelistic opportunities moving in the prophetic. So many stories of how lives were changed. Although I don’t feel like I have the motivation of an evangelist, I could see myself sharing the gospel in this way. You will be encouraged, equipped and inspired to begin prophetic evangelism.
so good - I am promising to make this a part of my everyday prayer life … the HUNT is on… LOVE this book - second time I’ve read this through … along with our theme this year being “to Know His Voice” this is the tool that’ll teach ANYONE how to allow the Gifts of the Spirit to flow through them …
This book presents an evangelism strategy, per the subtitle “A Guide to Supernatural Evangelism through Supernatural Encounters”. It is a fun and effective approach balanced with wisdom on important aspects of introducing others to our supernatural God.
I think this is a great shell for power evangelism. We'll need to modify it a bit, but it addresses a culturally/psychologically acceptable way to approach strangers that is also based on words of knowledge. It was very inspiring to me, as a non-evangelist, that I can effectively reach out to lost strangers with a little guidance from things he's learned. Everyone has to overcome fear, whether they are an evangelist or not, and his approach has proven successful for anybody in the kingdom regardless of ministry or skillset. Something Juster said sticks out to me here - even somebody who was in leadership in the Body in the past, yet had to step down due to character flaws, should be still utilizing their gifts in everyday evangelism. We all need to consider more seriously our role with those not walking in covenant with Him.
As far as writing style goes, I prefer Bill Johnson's work... Dedmon has a lot of stuff to say/ a lot of great stories to share, but he was a little too repetitive for me, and being a writer/ Literature major myself I saw several errors throughout the text that he or his editor should have caught.
That being said, the stories in this book are very inspiring, and after reading this I feel eager to go out and try "treasure hunts" of my own. It's all very empowering, and well-supported with scripture.
This book is a guide to leading people to supernatural encounters. He spends a lot of time on stories in the book, and he does give a lot of practical advice for "Treasure Hunting." The wealth of experience does add weight to the advice he gives about praying for healing, prophesying over people, etc. Personally, I found especially helpful the chapter that dealt with fear.
A good balance would be Like A Mighty Wind by Mel Tari.
great, great stuff. i think for folks who don't really believe in the Holy Spirit much, this book will be completely "out there". but it got me wanting to get some people together to do a treasure hunt of our own.
i'd say if you're a follower of Christ, and want to be challenged, check this book out.
What a powerful and thought-provoking book. I'm not sure yet how I fit into this idea of evangelism but I am motivated to prayerfully change my former way of thinking about this. At the very least it has me passionate about finding the Ultimate Treasure, no matter what Treasure Hunt looks like. It has me thinking outside the box - and liking it!
Never in my life have I heard evangelical ministry presented in such a way! This has transformed my faith for bringing the Kingdom of Heaven here on earth
