I had the pleasure to beta read this amazing debut by T.K. Tuitt and I absolutely LOVED this book from the very beginning!

You get hooked from the first chapter because T sets up the story line to be action packed right from the very beginning. Upon meeting, there's some kind of unexplainable electricity between Thunder and Ivy and get ready because it's going to be helluva journey!

The basic premise is that Ivy is from England and moved to Montana. She lives in a house in the middle of nowhere and is basically a program developer so she is a huge techy geek (even though she is so gorgeous, no one would have guessed)! She made a program that can be dangerous if it got into the wrong hands and those wrong hands are now after Ivy. After that first incident, Thunder's team is now on Mission Keep Ivy Safe until they figure out and take care of who is after her. During this mission, there is something deeper that develops and the mission is a lot more critical than what they first anticipated.

This story is jam-packed with a ton of action! It is suspenseful but also includes a wonderful love story. The characters are f'in hot and some can be a little mysterious so I can't wait to get into their stories later in the series! So basically Thunder works with a team of hot Alphas, all tradesmen in different areas of expertise. Like Ivy said, she has never seen men this hot overseas and it seems like every hot man is bred in Montana! I think I may have to move to check this out too! LOL

I loved Thunder and Ivy together. He's a completely fierce Alpha male. Since he works in security, he's a natural protector. Ivy is fireball Brit who has sass, is strong but also down to earth. She doesn't necessarily want Thunder's protection but he's so dominating that she it will just be easier to appease him than fight him on it. They're personality battles are funny and so are the jabs from the other guys on the team. There is just so much to this story, Thunder has a past and Ivy is really left with no one so you learn about their lives. They work on a relationship together but will it be enough to conquer their ghosts?

I can't keep writing about it because I know I'll give too much of the story away but overall - great story line, great length, great characters, good mix of humor, wit, romance, swoon, angst, alpha dominance, emotion, heartbreak, suspense and hot sex! Awww... and loved the Epilogue! This is a definite 5* and a fantastic debut for T.K. Tuitt!

As a side note, both author T.K. Tuitt and her character, Ivy are from England so the book is written in that dialect of the english language so she uses a lot of English grammar and slang. She does include a helpful guide but just keep this in mind to not mark it against her because I think the slang adds more to Ivy's personality and the humor in the book.

We kicked off T.K. Tuitt's blog tour for Deep Haven so be sure to check out all the extras on the blog, including her tour giveaway: http://wp.me/p3vwIF-141

I am officially in love with this book. And Thunder.

That being said....

I have to be honest and say that the cover was a bit too lovey-dovey for me , although it is gorgeous. Deep Haven has everything that could capture your interest in a book. I'm willing to bet even for those of you that might not like contemporary romance books , will find something that'll grab your attention. Here goes.... there's action, edgy plot, bikers, cops, tattooed big muscly men, a super hot book boyfriend with a dark past, ex-military security guys, techie talk, steamy hot delicious sex scenes, lots of hilarious banter and tons of lovable and obsession-worthy characters. Told you....

Again, assuming you read the blurb, I have to say Deep Haven took me in and held me hostage. I read it in a few hours because I COULD NOT LET IT GO. The writing is exquisite and outstanding, T. K. Tuitt did a phenomenal job of mixing up amazing characters, a bite-your-nails plot, beautiful and super sexy love story, hilarious dialogues, very vivid details that manage to transport you and visualize the settings and actions.

Ivy Snow has to be one of my favorite female leads to date. Although her sexual issues threw me off at first, Ivy is hilarious , witty, super smart, confident and very relatable. She isn't whiny and makes the best of her situations. She's a size 12, so she's very much a regular girl.

And then there's Thunder. Thunder McLeod is an ex-Spec Ops tattooed hulk of a man who runs his own security company , which by the way is filled with roughed-up Greek-God types who have awesome personalities and should have their own books ( HINT!!! ). Thunder was taken hostage in of his missions and came back with a few issues that greatly affect him unexpectedly. He falls head-over-heels in love and lust with Ivy, and he has this caveman, primal and raw attitude which wastes no time in stupid games and angst. Thunder is the type of character that makes you wish you had a Thunder of your own.

Yes, there's sappy, lovey scenes between Thunder and Ivy. But there's not really a focus and it plays so well into the story that even if you don't like that type of scenes its not really a turn off at all.

This is a book that I would love to see turned into a series and I can only say that T. K. Tuitt earned another loyal fan.

I thought Deep Haven, as a debut novel, was great. It was well written and only has some slight bumps, mostly in the beginning, where the flow of the writing wasn't as smooth as it could have been. But overall, the writing was very impressive and the author did an awesome job.

Now to the characters, I loved both Thunder and Ivy and their interactions so much.
First of Thunder, gosh, I love the name. He is the typical alpha male, badass who used to be with the army and now has his own security firm. He further has the usual demons. Yet, at the same time he can be this gentle giant who loves Ivy and her quirks from the beginning. He further has a sense of humor, which makes him even better in my book.

"Jesus help me, I've got a tv show freak on my hands." Thunder muttered, mostly to himself.
"I heard that!"
"You were meant to." He said over his shoulder.

And Ivy, she is hilarious, smart, doesn't care what others think of her and says what's mostly on her mind. Her tv show and movie addiction made for some funny situations, especially in her head.

"Babe, you can't shoot everybody." I said, trying to soothe his anger.
"Why the fuck not? I have a license that says otherwise." He spat out.
A giggle burst out of me. I couldn't help it. A vision of Thunder standing with two machine guns like Rambo, shooting his way through Martin Smalls's dodgy business made me snort with laughter.

Granted, the meeting of the two and them falling in love was very quick, but I have to say in this case, it was refreshing to see a couple embracing their instant attraction and not playing the whole chasing game that so often in portrait.

I really enjoyed "Deep Haven" and I can't wait for the next book in this series. I'm curious about the boys at "McLeod Security Firm", especially Falcon and Hark! :D

I loved this book. I thought it was amazingly well written where it flowed from one scene to another. The characters were interesting and dynamic. The relationship was believable and made you fall in love with Thunder and Ivy. Ivy will make you laugh out loud with her British language and Thunder will make you all wish for your own White Knight! They suspense and intrigue kept me interested and the plot twist was unexpected! Who they worked for was surprising. She gave you just enough of the supporting characters to leave you wanting more and I can't wait for their books! Add this to the top of your TBR pile ~ you will not be disappointed!

I loved this book it was bloody brilliant;) The author created strong characters that would die fighting for the ones they love. the way Ivy and Thunders relationship was on their own terms and not what people think the way things should go is a reminder that more people should live their lives for themselves and not others. I want my own Thunder to come to the rescue and carry me around because he can't stand to be apart from me for one second:) I can't wait for the next book! I hope its about Wade because IMO we can never have enough of him.

I really wanted to like this book. It has a wonderful story of two people who would do anything for each other BUT I found a lot of grammar mistakes and just found them annoying. Without those mistakes I could gave easily given this book a 4 or 5 rating.

I love the characters from this book, I really do they are the highlight in my opinion.
BTW I'm rubbish at spoiler free reviews.....
I'm not going to lie at first I was a little sceptical of the story because it started off so strong and stories that start of strong sometimes they fade during the middle and then pick up at the end and I fucking hate that. But to my surprise the Author kept the intensity all the way throughout adding layers and layers as the story went on.
The pace was done to perfection at first I taught Oh Gosh it's going to be too long but it worked out perfectly everything was skilfully laid out in great details
The writing is good with a good flow that is easy to follow despite all the technical jargon and all the British slang and terms. Ivy our leading lady is British and I mean normal British that is spoken by everyday people, not the Queens formal English but a little Cockney which I love because I'm a Londoner.
It was hard to decide on a rating because even though there are a lot of funny and sexy moments, not to mention all the bloody action and drama but these are very small but, just a few things that felt a little bit off to me. (I'm about to nit pick)
1. Their instant love /connection seemed rushed and forced, I think if Thunder's POV was added it would have made their love in the beginning more natural, don't get me wrong it clear they have a major spark but it needed another chapter before they went from being strangers to glued at the hips declaring FOREVER.

and
2. A few small things were missed for example in one paragraph Ivy was straddling Thunder......The next sentence he was hovering above her..... (at which point did he flip her over or roll her over ...non). These are very small things THAT DOES NOT TAKE AWAY FROM THE STORY ON BIT.
ALL THE GOOD QUALITIES AND THINGS I LOVED ABOUT THE BOOK OUT WEIGH ALL MY NIT PICKING BY FAR.

I admire Ivy's character she has real strength and agility, during all the madness of nearly everyone trying to kill her and being terrified she still has a small on her face she made those around her smile she is truly a light force.
"I was having a vision of you standing in the jungle like John Rambo shooting your way through Small's and the jungle."Ivy
I had such a great time getting to know her character, she free spirit just flowing from the pages.
She had a very limited sexual experience up until meeting Thunder. I loved her openness to learn new thing to please her man her method of research is hilarious. I really love her character her back story is also very touching and a bit sad really she was a loner until Maria claimed her as friend upon meeting her.
As I said before the characters are the highlight of the book, all their individual personality shone through but not over shadowing the main characters I fell for the whole gang I wanted one of those badass all for myself and to be "Part Of The Gang"

Thunder where so I even begin with him.....His name fits him perfectly he is defiantly a force to be reckoned with especially if you mess with his women. Swoon. He as survived a hell of a lot during his 36 years on earth he carries some pretty heavy baggage but Ivy gives him a reason to want to put the pass behind him and finally move one. My heart truly broke form him and the way he suffered. I had to swallow down quite a few massive lumps that formed in my throat his pain was raw and palatable from the pages they nearly suffocated me because I really came to like him as a "person" (Individual character) before the true depths of his previous despair is revealed.

One thing is for sure Thunder and Ivy belonged together, they are soul mates from the very early on it was crystal clear their fate was destined and I love how their loved developed once I got over that almost instant love thing (I just really wanted his POV to fully grasp where he was coming from). I rooted and cheer for them like a bloody mad women I wanted them to get that HEA so badly that they both deserve.
"I love you too baby. I've loved you from the moment I saw you. I knew then what I know now. I would go to the ends of the earth for you Ivy. Before I met you, I was surviving...barely. You're my reason for existing. Without you; I was living in a dark hole, praying that every day I woke up would be my last, but my soul knew you were close; Ii wouldn't let me give up. For You, I carried on living, hoping, knowing deep down you were coming for me. "
That says it all, I have nothing more to say about these beautiful two. Well I have plenty more but I'm shutting up for obvious reasons...... I'm no blabber mouth
The ending was most perfect loved every minute. There is also a bonus chapter that pacified my heart after moaning about not have Thunder's POV so we all got a happy ending......
4 Solid, page turning, funny, action packed stars.
P.S There is some great sex that will get you all HOT and Bothered trust me I highly recommend. Its absolutely scandalous **Wink wink**

Sigh. I'm really disappointed with this one. I wanted to like it so much. But I just really didn't.

The story line all by itself is a good one. I really DO like the idea of a somewhat reclusive computer genius woman needing protection in the form of the big bad Special-Ops commando type. While not wholly original it's a good start and I would have likely been satisfied. HOWEVER the editing (or lack thereof) completely kills it- faster than Thunder can kill an enemy.

I am honestly completely flabbergasted by it to be truthful. I don't understand how any author, new or seasoned, could call this "good enough" and hit that publish button. I feel like a ball was dropped somewhere and I can't figure out who dropped it. WAS this edited at all? There's an editor listed but this reads like a first draft. Did the editor screw the author? If so then WHY didn't the AUTHOR do her job and read through the book after it came back from editing?? Surely she would have noticed the (quite literally) HUNDREDS of mistakes.

On top of the basic grammatical/punctuation/wrong word mistakes there are also a lot of inconsistency in the story line and time line. At one point we're told Ivy's grandma died 3 years ago and she came to the state 2 years later. Then later on it's her AUNT that died but she's been in the states for 2 years. So which is it?

There's also a distinct lack of creativity presented. Every. Single. Man. in the security firm is described EXACTLY the same way. First Ivy will stare or gasp. Then she'll liken them to Greek Gods, then she'll find a TV character to say they look like. It was fine the first time. But after that- find new descriptors, please.

Moving on: this is also very long (like this review is ending up!) There is a lot that could be cut out. In fact, almost ALL of the sexy times could be eliminated without compromising the story. And pretty much all of the final 25%. Which- btw- WTF is up with the last 25%??? YES there is a little bit of it that does tie up the rest of the story but still... MOST of what happens seems like it was put in there just for shock factor.

Ivy: I loved her attitude and temper- when she let it loose. I really enjoyed her tongue lashing the mean MI6 lady. I wish we saw that side of her MORE. She felt more real during those times than at any other in the story. Everything else seemed sort of fake. I never feel connected to her at all. She's not believable as some super genius computer programmer. She comes across as snobby and arrogant to me. Not super smart and lonely like we're being TOLD she is.

Thunder: I loved his dedication to protect her and the sentiment conveyed when he was making his sweeping love speeches. I don't buy into the whole "water boarding" being the cause of all of his issues though. That was kind of a cop out. It's utterly ridiculous that one would pin down just one form of torture when the man was held as a POW for weeks. It completely discounts everything else that happened to him during that time. And really- we only see his "issues" once or twice. So while we're being told he's all effed up in the head, we aren't seeing it like we should.

I really liked how the music got tied in at parts. However, at times, it felt like it was being used more as a crutch because the author couldn't figure out how to describe things in her own way. The television references though, it was cute at first, but turned annoying after awhile.

Bottom line: Don't bother. The editing mistakes and the inattention to details completely ruin what could have been a good story.
