Istanbul. A quiet neighborhood. An ordinary math teacher. And a body wrapped in a rug.
Arda lives a mundane, predictable life until a single, catastrophic night shatters his reality. Forced into a dark journey bearing a heavy quest upon his shoulders, he becomes haunted by the visions of a mysterious little girl named Sima.
Possessing the power to tear down the fragile barrier between dreams and reality, Sima locks Arda into a perpetual nightmare, pushing him far beyond the absolute limits of his sanity and morality. As the duo ventures on their journey into the remote corners of Anatolia, they must navigate a blurred path driven by revenge, redemption, and mere survival.
Stripping away the comfort of the familiar world, DREAMWALKER is a psychological thriller that blurs the line between reality, trauma, and the darkest corners of the human mind.
Gather round, people! It's not every day you see someone writing in two different languages to say... absolutely nothing. I don't even know what to write in these boxes. I always get... stuck. As you can see... ugh.
I wrote a book, I wrote a book, I wrote a book.

A thrilling story with a cast of sympathetic characters, an intricate plot, and a memorable ending.
The author managed somehow to squeeze a supernatural mystery, a love story, social/political commentary, and even some religious discussion all into one book, without meandering or veering off-course. The characters feel alive, and it is through their natural dialogue that all of these elements are seamlessly woven.
The novel starts out with ghostly horror themes, quickly transforms into a mysterious thriller, and finally blooms with heart-wrenching acts of selfless redemption. These transitions are so well-wrought, they are all but imperceptible. As a reader going through the pages, you just want to know what happens next, until the very last page.
Personally, I found the novel to be a bit long; I believe that it could have done without some of the secondary elements. That, however, reflects my own preferences, and in no way detracts form the work's quality, as the text itself is well-written and polished.
Overall, a great read—even if you don't particularly enjoy thrillers, you might love this one for its elevated nature and deep, human themes.
I’ve read the Turkish original as a beta-reader (I was roommates with him at the time). I didn't read the English translation and I don’t know if it lost any of its authenticity in the process. But I genuinely liked the book’s original form.
But I’m not going to lie, at first it took a bit of effort to go through. I expected it would be a boring tutoring center drama after a full two chapter of characters talking about mundane classroom problems and past traumas and flashbacks. I was almost on the verge of dnf’ing the book until it escalated quickly and evolved into a whole different book.
If the book went along like the first chapters (maybe not “the” first but the second and the better half of the third) then I would have given it only two stars. The rest deserves five stars but since the start of the story is a bit weak, I’ll settle on four.
