Once again, we have another book by Té Russ that reads like it was written by a white author. There was absolutely nothing black about Let Me Love You. The character names, the terminology she uses, and the overall tone of the book is just lacking in blackness. She used phrases like "I see mama is still sore with you.", "I look like a trollope.", and "Stick in the mud." Seriously?!!! This is not terminology that is used by anyone in the black community in real life or make believe. On top of the unrealistic verbiage, the book was boring and corny. There was no chemistry at all between Valerie and Jaden. I get that this is an older book by the author but, even her newer books read the same. Let Me Love You was such a disappointment, I won't even bother to read book two. At least not right now.
I loved the fact that Jaden and Valerie both tipped around each other for a year before finally getting the courage to speak. Mrs. Russ this story showed characters to be believable as well as relatable. Valerie was not only afraid to open her heart again, she also had a real fear of what it would be like to lose another person she loves. How many people go through this on a day to day basis without really learning to love again.
I have read several Te Russ's books and I believe this is the best one so far. I loved Jaden's personality, it was very refreshing and his patience with Val was beautiful. The coffee shop scenes were cute and believable.
Valerie almost let fear cost her Jalen. Yes, life is not promised to no one, despite those who chose careers that can be dangerous. I'm glad that they found each other, and that Valerie let go of her fears to let love win.
Ms. Russ has bone it again and I can’t wait to continue reading this series. The love discovered and fought for was amazing and awe worthy. Definitely well worth the read.
I love this story on getting over your fears and letting love have it way. Jaden abd Val were a beautiful couple that had their ups and downs but fought for each other in the end.
I was cheering for them, Valerie deserve some happiness after losing her family, Jaden didn’t gave up on her, yeah and they are pregnant👌🏾I think Marcus met his Match👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
That's how poor Baden Coleman felt about Valerie Rhodes. He wanted Val to just be still and let him love her. Valarie was afraid because her father and brother both loss their lives in failed arrest that had gone bad.. really bad. So when Val found out that the hot guy she wanted all this time was a Policeman, all her fears came back full force. The hot guy and Val had made goooo gooo eyes at one another for one year, just to find out she had an issue with his career choice. Would she find the will to just listen to her heart, that was the real question.. A good read!
Valerie had some serious trauma to overcome. Jaden was just the man for the job. As he was compassionate, loyal, fun loving, dedicated and hardworking. One of the sweetest gestures was the autograph book. Swoon moment.
But what. I appreciated more was Jaden's tenderness. Valerie is sweet and hardworking and it's funny to see her explore her wild side with Jaden. It's also good to have a best friend like Scarlett. She is loyal and supportive. The story is really sweet and you realize how preci
