What if you had a chance to relive your past and choose a different path? Would you take it, knowing you risked losing all the good things in your life?

In this “Back to the Future” meets “It’s a Wonderful Life” tale, Kyle Fleming thought he had everything a man could want out of life; a healthy child, a beautiful and devoted wife and more money than he could ever spend. A ruthless senior vice president for a major pharmaceutical company, he’s alienated friends and even family members on his march to success, forgetting who he is along the way. Returning to the rundown New England town where he grew up, Kyle is determined to build a new plant that may propel him to the company’s CEO role, but forever destroy the charm and character of the once thriving seaside resort.

Coming home however has stirred up long forgotten regrets about the career choices Kyle made to appease his father. Caught up one fateful night in a freak Nor’easter, he wakes up back in 1985 with a second chance to chase a dream; a shot at rock n’ roll fame and fortune leading his destined for stardom band The Truth.

Pursuing that dream though comes with a steep price as every decision Kyle makes in his new past alters the future he knew. Will he sacrifice the few good things he had in his life to chase stardom or can he find a way to merge both paths and win the heart of the woman he loves? He’ll need to relearn the value of community, family and friends and find the good man he once was to make it all work, before his future and past are destroyed by fates beyond his control.

Three Chords & The Truth is the story of one man’s search for personal redemption and reclaiming the dreams of his youth.

Think of an original Rod Serling-penned episode of the Twilight Zone, mix in a little Wizard of Oz, and set the whole thing in Coastal New England in the mid-1980s. That’s the best way I can describe the premise of Three Chords & The Truth. The set-up and characters are extremely vivid, well-developed and interesting and the story had me hooked from the start…I couldn’t put it down.

Without spoiling anything, I can say that the premise and plot are wholly original and the outcome is pleasantly surprising. Three Chords & The Truth is a fun read on the surface, but it also left me contemplating life on a broader level and the paths it can take, both in and out of our control.

This book would make an excellent summer vacation read (think beach book or poolside escape). While there are some twists and turns along the way, it’s a pretty easy read, with a quick pace and straightforward plot.

Overall, I would recommend this book if you enjoy fiction with a bit of sci-fi mixed in.

I got an advance reading copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I really enjoyed this book. The story is a familiar one, there aren't a lot of surprises, and it read like a lifetime movie, but that just made it all the more enjoyable. It was a good, quick, easy read and I highly recommend it.
