This book wasted no time breaking my heart. The opening had me sitting there like... wait, WHAT?! I was completely invested from that point because I needed to know how these two were going to find their way through everything life had thrown at them.
Saturn surprised me in the best way. I wasn't expecting him to become one of those MMCs who quietly steals your heart, but here we are. And Kewanna? Baby, I wanted to fight a few people on her behalf. My heart ached for everything she endured.
What I loved most was watching two people carrying so much pain become a place of peace for each other. Their love didn't erase their past, but it gave them somewhere safe to land, and I loved watching that unfold.
Now that ending? My nerves were absolutely gone. I closed this book needing answers immediately. It was emotional, heartfelt, and definitely kept me turning the pages. (4.5/5)
Omg, first of all, my heart just could not take the beginning. 😭 I was so shocked by what I was reading. It was heartbreaking, but it definitely grabbed my attention because I was so curious to see how the story would unfold...
Saturn and Kewanna came from completely different backgrounds, but they each carried their own trauma. I was so happy to witness them find the love they truly deserved. Kewanna finding safety in Saturn while they both found comfort in each other? Whew. It definitely touched my heart. 🥹💕
Author says she pours raw honesty onto the page and I agree. This is how you write a riveting IKYFL page turner. A 5 stars read because even in trauma and grief the story feels so light and airy. I wanted to snuggle in with Wanna and Saturn and watch their HEA unfold even more.
Saturn is a testament to her well crafted and emotionally charged storytelling. Immediately drawn in with an intro that will break your heart this unputdownable page turner deftly handles trauma in such a humane and real way. Saturn goes through it! I could never hate Wanna. Her life was so complicated I gave her all the grace. The author gives a thorough TW. It left me intrigued with why I could possibly dislike the FMC. We watch Wanna claw her way out religious wrapped abuse and fall into love with our unhealed but loving Saturn. I could never be mad at anything Saturn aka Jemaine did. Neverrrr. By the end all ypu could do is say my man my man my man. I liked how Saturn is a man dhaped but not conquered by his trauma. The way the author put this story together was just so smart. My only gripe is wanting more. More time of seeing them happy. More time of seeing how Saturn picked up the pieces. More tome to see the fallout. But one thing is for sure, having Cobi's pov cinched so many moments. Beung This one was memorable with a quiet, stoic, protector.
This book left me a little emotional, but in a good way. Saturn really took me by surprise. I did not expect him to tug on my heart strings the way that he did. Everything Saturn went through, I was already emotional about him. Kewanna though, MY HEART for her !!!! Like I was ready to get up in the book & handle a FEW PEOPLE for her !!!! But when Saturn & Kewanna cross paths it’s just the perfect alignment. Even though they both been through some trauma, it’s like they were paired together to heal each other. Towards the end of the book, my nerves WAS SHOT though! And THE ENDING HAD ME HANGING BY A THREAD !!!! Jenica really said prepare yourself, and I see why, this one took me on an emotional rollercoaster. Loved every minute of it though. Saturn is definitely something special.
The story was decent even though there were some inconsistencies. And some things didn’t make sense but those things could be ignored. My biggest issues were the grammatical errors and there were so many. That it got to the point where I was gonna DNF the book.
But other the story was okay I liked Saturn. His story so tragic and I’m glad that he got to learn what it meant to be truly loved. And I don’t mean in a romantic way. And Kewanna her parents were a huge disappointment. Especially her dad because he knew something was off but still chose to ignore the signs.
In the end I’m glad Cobi and the cousin got the ending they deserved.
Everyone doesn’t deserve to be parents. When a grown man who’s married and still leans on his mother to clean his mess, it not a man. Reece listening and hearing is to different things.
Off top I’m going in on Cobi. He mentality was still off a boy and not off a man. Ya boy was still drinking beast milk cause the way he depended on his mother was diabolical. Like he didn’t do anything without his mother approval. My question is, what was his issue? Like he was angry and I didn’t understand why. His parents ignored the signed signs of his mental illness. Not only that, everyone seemed to turn their cheek when it came to his cheating. See cheating is cheating especially when married but when it’s with the wife cousin and everyone ignored, yeah something was wrong with everyone. Let’s not talk about how he just knew he was big and bad. Yeah everyone meets their match and he did when it came to Saturn.
Kewanna didn’t want much but peace, to be a mother and loved. However what she received was, lies, hurt, pain and all forms of abuse. I will not lie, she was irritating me not having a back bone. Like she allowed everyone to control and manipulate her. Like girl for real? You can’t be that weak. Now when she took that step, I was so excited. Then when she met Saturn, I was all smiles. It’s something about a man of little words. The way this man stepped up when he finally understood her reason of being around. The connection between them was unexpected for them both but it was real and pure. Let know mention Zeus. Ya he was that dog that if you were afraid, he made you comfortable. Not only was Zeus a factor but can we speak Ms. Ruth. I loved her down. She stepped up for Saturn when everyone else gave up on him as a kids and been there since. You could tell either one of them that they weren’t family. Then when Kewanna entered the picture she did the same thing. She showed her what it was to be loved correctly by a mother. Just said it came for someone that wasn’t related to her. Now when all said and done, once that guard was down, Saturn wasn’t coming off Kewanna. He meant what he said to her, there’s no turning back.
Listen there’s so much more I want to discuss about the read. This was a read that definitely pulled at all the emotions and heartstrings. No child should ever experience what Saturn did and no woman should have to experience what Kewanna did. This read display infidelity, lies, secrets, betrayal, abuse and second chance love. This was a very nice read. I would have loved to know more about Kewanna & her parents. Queen didn’t disappoint.
Baby... can we talk about **Saturn** for a minute?!
When I tell y'all this book had me in my feelings... I mean **IN MY FEELINGS**. I don't know what Jenica J put in this story, but Saturn is one of those characters that stays with you long after you finish the book.
I found myself rooting for him from beginning to end. All I wanted was for him to find healing, peace, and the kind of love he truly deserved. His journey wasn't perfect, and that's what made it feel so real. The author didn't try to rush his healing or make everything magically okay. We got to witness every emotion, every struggle, and every small step forward.
That's what made this story so special to me. It reminded me that healing isn't a straight line, and sometimes people are carrying battles we'd never know just by looking at them.
I'm not even going to lie... this is one of those books I could pick up and reread over and over again because it left that much of an impact on me. That's rare.
If you're looking for a story that's going to make you feel something, connect with the characters, and have you thinking about them long after you close the book, **Saturn** deserves a spot on your TBR.
To Jenica J thank you for giving us Saturn. His story is one I won't be forgetting anytime soon, and I truly hope readers receive this book the way I did because it deserves all the love.
Wow, just wow. It is amazing how church folk are wrong on all fronts. They will do anything to remain a pillar of the community. But behind closed doors, baby all kinds of stuff is going on.
Cobi was an abusive whore. He didn't mind crashing out on Kewanna, and standing in the pulpit like all was right with the world. On top of that he was sleeping with her cousin. Just trifling. Kewanna left and met the man God made for her. Saturn was a man who minded his business. He made sure that his grandmother and his community were taken care of.
Saturn's life growing up was hard and he dealt with a lot of trauma. However, Grandma Ruth was his saving grace. She loved Saturn to no end and only wanted happiness for him.
This book is so good. Redemption and healing is the driving force. Love is the healer.
OMG 😱!!! This story had me balling my eyes out crying 😭 because all the pain and abuse that Saturn and Kewanna went through at separate times in their lives. Saturn was a sweet soul that taught himself that talking less and interacting with people less was a way to not get hurt or reveal too much. Kewanna was stuck in a dead end marriage with a man who beat and cheated on her and parents and in laws that allowed it and looked the other way all for the sake of the church. This story broke me for 2026, I don’t think I ever will recover. Kawanna and Saturn’s story was more than a Redemption Love, it was a new beginning, healing each other love story.
I was locked in from page one. I couldn’t stand any of the Atlanta women and the way Kewanna felt trapped by appearances and expectations. And the church folk? WHEW. 😮💨
I’m learning something about myself as a reader: I love a villain who reaps exactly what they sow. Cobi’s a cloooooown, way too full of himself and undeserving of being seen nothing more than garbage.
The way I was already sobbing at the opening of the last chapter💔💔💔 Jenica J., girl, you played entirely too much in my face with that one. The wordplay and the buildup were beautifully deceptive and well-crafted, and when it all clicked into place 👏🏾👏🏾
This book was crazy in a good way. The characters were really living double lives. I was truly disgusted by the mothers in this book. The belittling and enabling was entirely too much and their punishments definitely could’ve been harsher. I loved everything about Saturn. If “I ain’t killer but don’t push me” was a person! Then it’s Saturn. I truly feel like Kawanna deserved to beat up her mother in law and give her own mother a piece of her mind. And Saturn deserved another dog! Lol
This book was exactly what I thought it would be and more!! I loved how intense but intentional Saturn was. His love showed up in actions and not just his words. Throw all the parents away smh!!! Grandma Ruth was the only one with some sense. Keshawnna was definitely one of God’s toughest soldiers cus my good sis couldn’t catch a break! I love her journey. The right one can come along and change your whole perspective on love. I really enjoyed reading this book. 10/10 highly recommend
When I tell you this was an amazing read. Loved it from the beginning to the end. I literally had chills bumps reading this book. Mr Saturn aka Knight in shiny armour showed up and out for Kewanna. Definitely worth spinning the block for a second read. My 1st impression of Ms Jenica J. and I must say I was blown away. Looking forward to reading more from her.✨️
Saturn never believed anyone could break down the walls he’d built around his heart until Kewanna entered his orbit and changed everything they thought they knew about love, creating a bond so strong that nothing could pull them apart. Not even her husband 🙃🤭🙆🏽♀️
This book was a new rec from one of my trusted book babes, and she didn’t miss. I enjoyed the story and ended up reading it in one day. I know you’re wondering why I gave the book a 3-star rating if I liked it. Well...the editing. I saw a few reviews mentioning editing issues, with one reader saying it made them DNF. The story kept me interested enough not to DNF myself, but the issues didn’t go unnoticed. If this author fixed the editing problems, it would definitely be an easy 4- or 5-star read.
Overall, I enjoyed the story, and I think anyone who loves a good urban romance would enjoy this.
This was emotional whew. Kewanna was in a horrible situation, and the attempt to get away was crazy. 🤬 the bishop and his trifling Mama. Her cousin too‼️ I enjoyed this it had me all over the place as FAVE tends to do with my emotions. Twice I almost hollered cause NOOOOOO WAYYYY😩 Saturn is my type. Doesn’t play about his lady.
It's giving second chances, it's giving healing, but it still keeps that gritty, real urban romance edge. If you want a binge-worthy read that will have you rooting for a couple to win against all odds, do not sleep on this one. It's an automatic add to the TBR!
I haven’t read a book this good in a while. I went through so many emotions but that ending had me in tears. Two people sharing similar stories about how they were abused mentally, physically, and emotionally. This book was raw. I don’t even want to get too heavy in the details but this is a must read.
This book had me locked in from the beginning to the end. Saturn was a hurt little boy, who turned out to be a loving and giving man thanks to Grandma Ruth. Kewanna was dealt a bad had with Cobi, hus mammy, her mammy, and Erin. When she left her trauma, it was replaced with love.
I normally don’t do book reviews , but this book !!!! Chefs Kiss ! Jenica J did her big one . I finished this book in less than 4 hours because I couldn’t put it down. From the first chapter , til the very end ! Very beautifully written! A story of healing and love ! Gosh ! I’m a forever fan after this one !
Saturn is the planet of limitations, structure, discipline, responsibility, and karma. Saturn symbolizes the restrictive Father and also time. Most of these themes were captured in this book. My goodness, this book took me through it. I don't want to give any parts of it away. You need to read it for yourselves.
This was an interesting read. Saturn's back story broke my heart. I was so happy when he finally found someone to love and care for him. Kewanna's life also infuriated me, but she found the strength to leave that situation. She and Saturn met by chance and became a safe space for each other.
I absolutely loved this story, i was hooked on this book from page 1 i binged read this book in one day, i was so invested in this story!! Im so happy that they both got their happy ending
This book was so good all Saturn knew was hurt but when Kewanna came into his life he knew something was going on with her. I love the way he protected and loved her pass all she was going through.
Saturn was a good man Savanna. Lol. This book can trigger your trauma but also give you hope for a better tomorrow. Jenica out did herself with this one!!!
This is by far one of the best books I've ever read. When I tell you this book took me thru there. I mean I laughed, gasped & cried! Saturn is now 1 of my most favorite MMC.
Ms Ma’am….all ima say is TEARSSS… I felt this book in my soulll…You kinda thru me because what I thought was happening didn’t but Saturn and Kewanna got their Happy Ending….
