Sr. Allison Regina Gliot FSP (@sister_allison) has always loved reading and telling stories (the more fantastical the better). She fell in love with Jesus in college and became a Daughter of St. Paul after graduation to spend the rest of her life with him. Love it again. If you read the first one, great, but it’s kinda like the fellowship of the ring where it has to set the scene. The second one and this one feel like a different trilogy from the first book in a good way (though the first one was fun). Teen romance is no longer center stage and it allows for more depth to enter the scene. Niche and fun.

Couldn’t. Put. Down.

The fast pace, the drama, the suspense. Out of the three this one was my favorite. This one, I believe has some great depth to it, and the characters are so easy to love and feel for. Makes me want to give my life to the Lord over and over again.

Wow. This book really just shows you the extent of our own sins and brokenness and how much that can impact and effect those around us and those we love the most. BUT how much hope there is to have in the one who can save us and free us from the bondage of sin and death. We cannot change our past but that does not mean we are slaves to our past selves and past mistakes and this book does such a good job of relaying that. Reading this trilogy has been the best adventure ever, and I could not have asked for a better ending to this story, thank you Sister!!

Loooooove, love, love, love this story and this whole series! The writing is SO GOOD and the whole story was so much more than 5 stars. I am even thinking of restarting the series which I usually NEVER do! The way the memories wove into the present-day story was so well done that even I would have to stop and think, "Wait, weren't we just in the present?" It was one of my favorite parts of the writing style. It made me truly feel that I was a part of everything happening. I still cannot get over how well our Catholic faith was woven into the whole story. While vampires aren't real, the story of redemption and the unrelenting love of God in this context has never once felt cheesy. It felt as if it could actually happen --which it does! Just minus the vampires 😉

This had me invested from the jump. Books 2 and 3 of this series really showed out. The preteen girl in me reels with excitement at every twist and turn. This ending was satisfying and I am glad that these books exist.

So Satisfying

I have actually never gone through a series this fast before. This is an absolute page turner of a book. The stories of each individual character are so well developed and intriguing. You feel like you know each one of them personally. Their struggles are so relatable. The stakes of vampirism also add an intensity that make these struggles feel more pressing. And that is perhaps the most powerful element of this book’s exploration of internal conflict— how would I handle my inner demons if The Wolf was out there stalking me? Bravo Sister!

I don't know if a series has ever had a hold on me quite as much as the In Aeternum series.

With the first two books being so great, I was hoping book three would deliver and did it ever!

When I say this was a page turner, I mean it! I was on the edge of my seat, and it made me go through all sorts of emotions. Once again, I was in tears through some of it.

I can't say a whole lot because I don't want to spoil things if you haven't read the first two books in the series, but we get to know more about Christopher's past, see the relationship grow between him and Elizabeth, see Christopher's faith developing, and find out answers about The Shadow/Adrian and The Wolf.

Suffice it to say that all the questions you have throughout the books get answered.

As with the previous two books, God plays a big role in the story, and it is tastefully done, with the themes of redemption, sacrifice, and surrender prevalent throughout the story.

The ending...well, it was beautiful!

I'm actually sad to see the series end, because the author made the characters feel so real. I feel like I personally know them. Maybe it's because you can see a little bit of yourself in each of the main characters?

This series has become an all-time favorite of mine, and I can't recommend it enough! Whether you are a Christian or not or a Catholic or not, this is an emotional and powerful series that just might change your life.

Sacrificial love and the power of our choices—Wonderful conclusion to the In Aeternum trilogy!

The Dawn We Seek picks up directly where the second book, The Light They Left, left off with its “surprising” revelation. Christopher, Elizabeth, Father Stephen, and the nuns in the Paulskloster continue to uncover Christopher’s past, with everything finally becoming clear at the end. I loved how Sr. Allison incorporated Christopher’s flashbacks as an integral part of the narrative—the reader essentially experiences them the same way they’d suddenly come upon Christopher. It’s brilliant, and really gives the reader some empathy on how it must’ve felt for Christopher to be thrown back into a memory without warning.

There is some satisfying closure to Elizabeth and Christopher’s story, but things are open-ended. Life goes on with all of its challenges, and choosing which path to take is an ongoing process. But, we’re not alone! Since Sr. Allison is writing from a Catholic point of view, the relationship with God, especially in his Holy Eucharist, figures prominently in all three books, but not in a way that (in my humble opinion) would be off-putting to anyone not of the Catholic faith. She even incorporates a very helpful Q&A at the end of each of the books, and also includes some secular resources for help, if needed.

I was incredibly lucky to get my hands on this book prior to the official release date thanks to Pauline Books having a book fair at my church after mass.

What a beautiful ending to the In Aeternum trilogy! I honestly could not ask for more. Christopher and the Shadow's story concluded in such a beautiful way! I love how we see him grow in his faith and stumble realistically, as well as adjust to finally being human.

This book kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. The flashbacks answered just as many questions as they posed, keeping me flipping pages excitedly to the end. We finally get to see how both Adrian and Josef became vampires and get a great conclusion with the Wolf.
I wondered what else there would be to say with the flashbacks since book 2 did such an extensive job, but I was so happy to be wrong. The flashbacks here were just as interesting as in book 2!

I absolutely adored this conclusion to the series! I was on the edge of my seat for the entire second half, and had to force myself to put it down to sleep. The flawless balance of memories and present-day concerns, the spiritual realities made manifest in vampires, the constant struggle to let things go and let God handle it... Sr Allison truly wrote a masterpiece!

This was such a great ending to this amazing trilogy! Watching Christopher’s character development these past few books has felt special and like I experienced it with him. I see the Mass in a way I never have before and my relationship with Jesus and the Eucharist has strengthened because of it. And that epilogue? Beautifully done!

I don’t know if she’s planning another trilogy but I could see one being made from Christopher’s last “idea” at the end of this book. And I would love to read that trilogy as well. Thoroughly enjoyed this trilogy. Thank you Sr. Allison for writing it! The last installment of the trilogy we dive deeper into why and how Christopher turned and learn about his brother, Adrian. A final battle to remove the threat of the wolf while seeing if healing is able to occur.
