We're back with Adri and a whole new slew of problems. We have a new wedding, a new location and a new leading man(Yes if you've read book 1, Luke shows up and is still in the running for Adri's attentions).
How does a dream wedding on Kauai sound? Heavenly and a place to catch a little R & R while Adri is planning and overseeing all the festivities leading up to a beautiful beach wedding and luau. Heavenly... that is until a dead body is discovered and multiple attempts on her life happen. Now she's in a race against herself and whoever the mysterious murder/attacker is to stay alive and keep everything on track for the wedding. Will she continue to keep important information to herself, or will she learn to trust others and possibly get their help and protection? Add into the mix of a murder, a crazy lady in pink who is bound and determined to have the bride Malia reschedule to a different day or time for her wedding. What? Adri cannot believe that anyone could be so pushy when she's had this day reserved and planned for months.
Veiled threats, danger in the waters, beautiful landscapes, relaxing beach walks, suitors all around, missing logos, bike rides, picnics, snorkeling, scrapes and bruises, drowning, spas and massages, flowers, handsome men, untrustworthy heart, flip-flops, cute crafty ideas, pictures, police and a little bit of paranoia.
Veils and Vengeance was definitely a great addition to the Wedding Planner Mysteries. I enjoyed reading about Adri's adventures(some deadly and some heavenly). She is great at observing and deducing information that pulls together into a great mystery. But beware because someone is out there watching her and following her every move. Will she be able to outwit the killer and attackers before it's too late? Or will they outwit her this time? With all the many scrapes and bruises she seems to be accumulating, Adri will need to step up her game if she has any hope of survival.
Once again I had my suspicions of who the bad guy was. I changed a couple times my opinion on who it was but had a niggling suspicion in the back of my mind of a person but wasn't sure at first. There were a couple clues right away that made me suspect them but Rachelle does a great job of giving lots of clues without giving it away. I love when I can read a mystery without knowing right away whodunnit! Yet keep me intrigued to think that I just might know. Yeah it was a fun read with the bad guy staring right at you lots throughout the book. Can you figure it out? So many to choose from...
I loved the setting for the book and must say it's been a place that I have always wanted to travel to. I went to Hawaii when I was a teenager and visited a couple of the islands but Kauai was one that I really wanted to see but wasn't able to. Oh yeah, it's going on the list for getaways that someday I might get to with my hubby! Beautiful descriptions of the island and fun places to visit if you are going there.
This review would be incomplete if I didn't mention our two suitors. Luke, our divorce lawyer from Idaho has finally decided to come to his cousin's wedding. Our other leading man is Jon, the brother of the groom. Both are very interested in Adri and both have to decide what they want to do to show her. But the question always looms for Adri, is one of them the murderer? Has one of them been attacking her? Are they only pretending with her emotions so they can get close and hurt her? Or are their intentions and admiration/like of her real? With her past relations looming in her memory can Adri allow anyone to get close to her? Plenty of questions for you to think on as you read this book and lots to lead us into the final book of the series. Oh I am just dying to know what happens. (pun intended)
Content: I would say this is a clean read. Some sweet kisses, an attack, a murder victim found, and some peril around every corner. Adri also has remembrances of the turmoil from her previous peril in the first book. I would definitely recommend this book for anyone who loves a good romance/mystery book. Fun, intriguing and perilous.
I won a copy from the author, no review was required, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
Happy Reading!!!
