The billionaire vampire Dorian Thorne has searched the world to find Cora Shaw, a once-human woman with whom he has formed an eternal bond. But his triumph is shattered when Cora is attacked, sending her running from their sworn enemies. Dorian is determined to rescue her before she can come to harm—and wreak his vengeance upon those who have tried to destroy them both.
I write steamy paranormal romance, particularly vampire and shifter/werewolf right now. Check out my two free series starters, Life Blood and Taken. :)
I most often compare my work to Twilight meets 50 Shades (my vampires in Cora's Choice are more dark and angsty, and the S/M elements grow more and more pronounced as the series progresses), but the names that readers most often mention are Anne Rice and Sherrilyn Kenyon.
In Cora's Choice, Cora's Bond, and the following series, I wanted to show a heroine's journey from ordinary girl to someone super tough. This is a journey of months--years, even. So many stories start with an Anita Blake-type, able to kick ass and take names from the first we meet her. I thought it would be awesome and really interesting to show someone becoming that person through tiny changes that build on each other.
My world puts a different twist on everything from vampires (they're alive) to elves (aliens) and demons (interdimensional djinn). The Alpha's Captive series features a kickass heroine out of the gate, while Cora's Choice series--followed my Cora's Bond and others--has my "big" character story line.
Yes, there's an HEA. :) But the story keeps going on!
This was a lovely reminder of why I fell in love with Dorian and the series. It had action, passion, suspense, and that Dorian, I-hate-what-you-do-to-me-but-can’t-stop-drowning-in-you moments. We didn’t get to travel to the past but stayed with him in the now and enjoyed more of his relationship with other agnates and Clarissa. I always wanted to know more about their father-daughter relationship so it was nice seeing here.
I also found it interesting that it was easier for me to understand Cora’s internal dilemma from Dorian’s POV than it was from hers. I always took her as a bit peevish and prickly, but hearing Dorian’s side of the story I kind of realized she had good reasons for being unwilling and even resentful to her new life… but only a little bit because Dorian is Dorian and one cannot help but be enthralled by Dorian, ha! Besides, I need to keep reminding myself that Cora is young and has much to learn still. Can’t wait to see what’s coming next. 5 Glorious Stars.

CREATION OF A BOND !!! Title: Blood Gift Series: Billionaire Vampire's Choice Designation: Book Three of Series, NOT a Standalone, Novella with Cliffhanger Author: V.M. Black My Rating: FIVE SPELLBINDING STARS***** Wow! V.M. Black has delivered yet another winner with Blood Gift, the continuation of her riveting new series, Billionaire Vampire's Choice and I'm still totally captivated! This series is a follow up to her two blockbuster hits, Cora's Choice and Cora's Bond which consisted of six books each so hopefully, we'll also have six books of Vampire's Choice to love and enjoy. I do not believe it's necessary to read the other two series first in order to understand or enjoy this one but this is a series folks, so be forewarned. There are multiple novellas and dare I say it, cliffhangers. Yikes! So if you haven't read Books One and Two, Blood Lust and Cold Blood, STOP HERE! But truthfully, there is absolutely nothing I enjoy more than a good serial with nail biting, white knuckle, oh my glory, what's going to happen next, can't wait for the next book endings! And Black delivers in spades! She never fails to tease, tantalize and entertain her readers with her amazing skill, astounding imagination and perfect prose. After reading all twelve books of Cora's Choice and Cora's Bond, I was eager to start reading this series because we finally get to hear the events as told in the first person from Dorian's point of view. I can't even begin to count the number of times I remarked to myself during Cora's story, "I wish I knew what Dorian is thinking" or "what I wouldn't give to know what's going on in Dorian's brain" or "I wonder how Dorian really feels". Well folks, now we do because this is Dorian's story, his past and his present, in his own words. And it is brilliant! After I read the last page, I just sat there for what seemed like an eternity - I was completely blown away. When I read Cora's story, I had no earthly idea that Dorian was so conflicted and in such tortuous psychological as well as physical pain. I never suspected that he had such a visceral and primal reaction to Cora Shaw after seeing her photograph and especially after meeting her for the first time but I'm getting ahead of myself. Let's talk some basics about the story. It is well developed, well executed, dark, exciting, powerful, thrilling, riveting, soul searching, introspective, romantic, arousing, seductive and sensual. These are only a few of the words that come to mind after reading this story. The dialogue is intelligent, exceptionally well written and flows beautifully. Ah, the characters, they are the heart and soul of this story. They are captivating, fascinating, complex, engaging, raw and sexy as sin. Black skillfully combines these elements into a wonderfully entertaining paranormal chronicle filled to the brim with intrigue, suspense, political machinations, romance and hope. The premise of the story: In the world of vampires, there are agnates who are the vampires, and cognates who are the blood source for their Agnate. Vampires must have the blood of humans to survive but in this story, very few survive the blood kiss of a vampire. Most humans die but when one does survive, that human becomes a cognate and the sole source of food for that vampire. There are certain benefits gained by surviving a vampire's deadly kiss. A cognate receives enhanced strength, perfect health and a much longer life span. There have always been two rough divisions of vampires. The Kyrioi who believed that humans should be under the power and direction of agnates with agnates being their masters, and the Adelphoi who believed that humans should be free to forge their own destiny with agnates only as observers rather than masters although none were so idealistic to believe that agnates should live without a cognate or personal human thralls, those individuals under the direct blood influence of a vampire to insure their loyalty. Books One and Two: Billionaire Dorian Thorne is an ancient vampire and a member of the Adelphoi. This story is written from his point of view reverting back and forth between his present and past life, or more accurately past lives and past identities. For centuries Dorian has refused to take a side in this heated debate between factions. It was only after meeting an agnate named Etienne that Alys, a female agnate, is finally able to sway his beliefs and convince him to join her efforts in trying to create a better future for their race. He is now fighting the darkness in his soul and the ever present feeling of hopelessness by striving to bring the Adelphoi into the future through medical research and the use of technology. He is also working to fulfill the dream of his dear agnatic friend, Alys who saved him so many times but finally lost all hope and her will to live 15 years ago. It was her belief that all human life held value and humans should enjoy the freedom to create and their resulting creations would lead to revolutionizing the lives of agnates. And it is now her dream that he fights to bring to fruition but in order to accomplish his goal, he must survive and in order to survive, he desperately needs a cognate. What does hope look like to agnate Dorian Thorne? It looks like the beautiful twenty one year old college student, Cora Shaw who is dying of cancer and has only a few weeks left to live. Through years of medical research, Dorian and the Adelphoi have developed a test that will narrow the odds of death from a vampire's blood kiss. With modern testing, they can now tentatively predict that the odds of survival will be one out of hundred, still unacceptable but undeniable progress. The groundwork for the screening process had been established years ago. A network of doctors treating progressive and fatal diseases had been cultivated and is intact to provide human candidates for their trials because they only accept the terminally ill. But the most important requirement is consent from the patient. Above all else, it's important that only those in full possession of their faculties can give their permissions. So, it is through cancer and the looming certainty of death that has brought Cora Shaw into Dorian's world of blood lust and darkness but she instantly became a beacon of light for this soul weary, warrior of death. There are moments in a person's life that are pivotal and worthy of remembrance, and the moment Dorian Thorne met beautiful grad student, Cora Shaw, is one of the most pivotal and memorable of his entire existence. It's a resurgence of life, a rebirth of hope yet it's a door once entered, offers no return and unfortunately, is as final as death. There could be no return. Vampires can not feel love without a bond and there can be no bond without an exchange of blood - always blood, and the blood creates desire, the insatiable lust and the resulting need for sex. Always the same - blood, bond, love, desire, lust, sex - until her. Without ever having a single drop of her blood, how is it possible that he already feels all those things, dare I say emotions, for this strange, ordinary girl, Cora Shaw? She has passed the initial screening process but she must give her consent and agree to the procedure but she faces the unlikely odds of being only one out of a hundred to survive his deadly blood kiss. He wants her more than his next breath and can now settle for no other - he wants only her. There is no denying the attraction between Dorian and Cora but will she consent? Cora does indeed consent to the procedure, which as it turns out, is Dorian's Blood Kiss. But Cora had no idea to what she was agreeing. Miraculously against all odds, one hundred to one to be exact, Cora Shaw lives, the first success among hundreds of carefully cataloged failures, the result of millions of dollars invested in research. Cora Shaw has survived, her cancer is cured and she now belongs to him! Whoa! She belongs to him??? Dorian has a chance for a new life with his Cora, a glorious rebirth, a new beginning for a new age, a new future not only for him, but also the Adelphoi and possibly the world! Yes, Cora has played the odds and won; she has survived but for how long? She survived the deadly Blood Kiss but can she survive the darkness of his soul and his very nature? Will she accept him?
Book Three: Cora has become a target for Dorian's enemies. They have made an all too real and much too threatening attempt on her safety and her life - and almost succeeded but just who is this enemy and what is the purpose of their efforts. It's simply unheard of - no one has made an attempt on the life on a cognate in some five hundred years so why Cora and why now? Dorian is a centuries old vampire who has made many enemies, none of whom are more dangerous than the Kyrioi. Could it be them behind this monstrous plot? Will Dorian be able to discover the traitor and reveal the identity of his enemies? Can he successfully protect his new love and his dream??? He must - because Cora Shaw is somehow unique and his need for her goes far beyond simply possessing her. Dorian suddenly realizes in order for him to survive his darkness and preserve his sanity, she must love him; he desperately needs for her to love him of her own volition, without his thrall or persuasion. Can she??? Will she??? But it seems the worst is yet to come for Cora must endure and survive her formal introduction to vampire society and that alone is only the beginning of the battle itself. Cora is still weak - only a scarce few days awakened from Dorian's "blood kiss". Can she find and summon the strength to survive her new bond with Dorian and his enemies which have now become her enemies as well??? No spoilers from me but if you have already read Cora's Choice, then you know the eventual outcome but oh my glory, what we didn't know then! I won't give anything away but I will say this....Handsome, charismatic, ancient vampire with a very darkened soul-check! Beautiful innocent heroine who must navigate a world of darkness to survive-check! Large, wonderful cast of characters-check! Danger, death, drama, intrigue, suspense, supernatural creatures, heinous enemies and evil machinations-check! Dorian and Cora's story continues from Dorian's point of view. I enjoyed the Cora's Bond and Cora's Choice books very much, but I find myself more engrossed reading that story from Dorian's POV. Maybe Cora was a little too naive for my taste(?), I know she annoyed me at times. But then I told myself, of course she fears and is naive about vampires, wouldn't we all be if we found they actually existed. To me Dorian has always been the main character even in the earlier books about the two of them. I'm really interested in his background and how he thinks and feels about Cora, It's very interesting learning about his and Clarissa's relationship. Am looking forward to learning much more about Clarissa, what it's like being a vampire's daughter, and how she thinks of him as a leader in their society, and how she thinks of him as her father, or does she think of him as her father, does she love him? There's much that can be explored in that area, and would love hear more tidbits about Dorian's past too. Really looking forward to Blood Games, the next installment in this series!
I am loving Billionaire Vampire's Choice! Getting to know what Dorian was thinking and feeling about Cora is making my love for all of Cora's Choice books stronger! There were a lot of times while reading Cora's Choice and Cora's Bond I would wonder why Dorian was being an ass, or what was he thinking at different times to how Cora was handling things. So now getting to read things from his point of view, to know just how close to losing it he was before he found Cora ,has been so interesting to read! Getting to know Dorian better makes you care more about him, you just dn't realize how close he was to total darkness in his life, or how at first he really looked down on Cora and couldn't understand why she was down kissing his feet Thanking him for not only for saving her life , but also for making her a cognate which made her stronger then a normal human, she would stay young and live longer, not to mention how he was rich and could giver her anything she ever could want. I look very forward to learning more about Dorian.
I love all things Dorian and getting opportunity to be inside his head is a add bonus. I enjoy reading from Cora POV but at times she frustrated me but I find myself more drawing reading things from Dorian's POV. I do want to cut Cora some slack she could be real naive at some point or a little bit ungrateful. I guess I would have my fears reservation of vampire too especially finding out they actually existed. Dorian being a very old vampire, he is kinda set in his ways, but is trying really hard to make Cora happy. I'm really interested in his background and how he thinks and feels about Cora, It's very interesting learning about his and Clarissa's relationship. Am looking forward to learning much more about Clarissa, what it's like being a vampire's daughter. I'm looking forward to reading more from Dorian POV.
I love Dorian to distraction, however, I think he may have something wrong...but we will see...Love it. We get to see Dorian's side of the events when his cognate was taken. Being a very old vampire, he is kinda set in his ways, but is trying diligently to make Cora happy. Cora is still struggling with her new life, and her place in it. As Dorian struggles to maintain a sense of normalcy for Cora, and still help her assimilate into his world, we get to share in some pretty calm and iron clad kinda moments in his personality. Dorian is forever keeping up appearances and making sure that no one sees the chaos that may have erupted just underneath the surface..his woman retrieved safe and sound, life might be able to settle down for a few days...This is a fast past wonderful read. I love feeling like I am stomping around in Dorian's head.
As usual V.M Black has out done herself with this installment! Dorian and Cora's story continues from Dorian's point of view. I enjoyed reading the story from Dorian's POV it's interesting to see what he's feeling and thinking. How he is willing to give so much of himself so quickly for someone. This installment is high impact right from the start with Cora being kidnapped or so Dorian thinks. all he knows is she was screaming for him and then the phone is dropped. A full out rescue mission is implemented. then of course there is the introduction party for Cora to be recognized as his cognate so that she wouldn't be in danger. it's an amazing story and of course it comes with an intense cliff hanger. I'm looking forward to the next installment. I received an ARC for my honest review.
I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Dorian has saved Cora from the djinn and corrupt police officers trying to kill her, but is still trying to determine who is responsible. In order to keep her safe, Dorian has moved up the date of Cora's introduction as his cognate. Unfortunately, Cora is learning more of what it means to be Dorian's cognate, and is stubbornly trying to fight the truth of her new life. On the night of her introduction Dorian finds it necessary to use his influence to make Cora attend the party! Great book with a lot of intrigue and a dash of hot sex, fantastic read! I love this series told from Dorian's POV!
Riveting reading As Dorians story continues we are seeing more of his thoughts and feelings toward Cora, what stands out to me is how much Cora continues to surprise him, her reactions and responses are not what he expects and as a result he's developing a respect for Cora that he didn't expect. As Dorian's feelings grow so does his internal struggle against the darkness that threatens to consume them both.
This book is incredibly well written with complex characters and vampire politics that you can't help but get caught up in story. I am really enjoying getting to know this side of Dorian and can't wait for the next book.
I was given a complimentary copy for an honest review by author V.M. Black. This is Dorian's POV book 3 from the Vampire's Choice series by the author.
Dorian Thorne now has his work cut out for him when Cora is attacked. He tries to keep her safe while the bond grows but his enemy has other plans for him by trying to get Cora. Can he save Cora and destroy his enemies that do not want him to succeed in his quest or will they bring him down.
The author created a smooth clean flowing story line with this story.
This is for any paranormal romance book reader. This book starts where book 2 leaves off so it is best to read the books in order.
Absolutely fantastic! As I read and learn more about the vampire Dorian, the more I fall under his spell. I loved him when i read the Cora series, but now I get to relive everything through Dorian's eyes, body, heart, and soul. Even though I know the Cora story, reading it all from Dorian's point of view makes it feel like a new story somehow! Right from page 1 you are literally sucked in and don't come up for air until the end, and I cannot wait for the next installment! V. M. Black's books keep getting better and better, and Blood Gift is no exception! Keep up the incredible work, Ms. Black! I'm a fan for life!
Blood Gift is the continuation of V.M. Black's Billionaire Vampire's Choice series. Dark, raw, addictive, captivating, intriguing, thought provoking, intense, emotional, deliciously sexy, and romantic, Blood Gift is well-written, properly edited, with a well thought out plot that keeps you interested and characters that are unique and tie into the previous books in the Cora's Choice and Cora's Bond series.
V.M. Black creates stories that are edgy and will have you hanging on the edge of your seat. She gives her readers actually what they want and leaves them panting for more.
Dorian's story continues and we are seeing more him and his feelings for a still young Cora. In her POV she so rarely knew what he was feeling and experiencing from his side is very different. His control over his darker side is harder to control that realized in her POV and the struggle is wonderful to enjoy.
This book is again well written with characters that are believable and a story line that can keep you turning pages. Funny that I know how the story ends for Cora and Dorian...but now I wonder..how it ends for Dorian and Cora. The POV changes it to a new story all together somehow.

We continue with Dorian POV while we enter into his mind when Cora is attacked and how he is dealing with the situation on hand. We also get more glimpse into his past and why he became the way he is and how he try to fight the darkness that tries to consume him a long the way. Love seeing how he interacts with his daughter Clarissa and their relationship. I love reading about Dorian and Cora then he's strong and set in his way and she trying to find her way in this new world that Dorian has introduced her too.
I LOVED it!!! Oh my, the banter between Dorian and Clarissa was so fitting for father and vampire daughter. I love the party going on beneath Cora's head. Now this was a awesome book from the guys POV. Ms. Black you really outdone yourself, except it's too short, I need more. I can't wait to hear his perspective when she goes out with Geoff and the ride with Cosimo, especially since he felt she was ungrateful. My sentiments as well, I mean her life wasn't that spectacular in the first place.... I know, I'm too immersed in their world, even I appear judgmental.
I recieved an ARC by the author for an honest review.
Once again Vicky has outdone herself with an amazing book!
Seeing everything from Dorian's POV is as thrilling as it was when we saw the story from Cora's side. The emotions from the two of them are captivating and Dorian struggles with this situation as much as Cora struggles with her new life as a cognate. The story flows easily and you simply can't put the book down till you have reached the last page.
Dorian and Cora's relationship continues to develop in this installment of his POV. He is fighting his natural instincts to overtake and control Cora while she tries desperately to adjust to the full force firehose of becoming part of his world. It's interesting to see what was going on in the background while Cora was dealing with her own issues of being a cognate and all that entailed.
We also get a lot more with Clarissa and her life as Dorian's daughter and confidant. She give a woman's perspective to the Agnate world and more insight into Dorian's character.
LOVE THIS SERIES This is the 3rd book in this series and I loved it. I like having Dorian's point of view. It adds a lot to the original story. Dorian is a powerful vampire who has to be in control and is doing everything in his power not to take control of Cora. She is trying to come to terms being Dorian's cognate and being in his world. When Cora is attacked, she runs. Dorian will find her and protect her from their enemies. Can't wait for the next book. Read this series. You will love it. I received this book as a gift for an honest review. Patsy Sacco
This story is all about Cora and how she became a cognate (vampire mate) but it's told by Dorian's point of view and how he was feeling. It picks up from the last book when she is fighting to get away from being kidnapped or killed. Wow this is exciting full of action, Drama, and of course hot hot and steamy scenes. It's a great read if you love vampires you will love this dark action romance.
Book given for an honest review and I honestly loved it.

I have loved this series from the start . Seeing everything threw Dorian's eyes is so exciting. Seeing how he felt when Cora was kidnaped and what he is willing to do to get her back. He is willing to do or go through anything to keep Cora safe and happy. This series has been so great and would recommend to anyone who loves a great series with vampires. Thank you V.M. Black for allowing me to read and review your work.
This is book #3 from Dorian's point of view and with each book I find I am truly enjoying this series far more from Dorian's point of view than I did Cora's point of view. Even though I have read all the stories from Cora's point of view and know how the story goes....it still feels so much different with the different perspectives. I love all the details of things we could not know from Cora's point of view and can't wait to see what will be revealed in the next book in the series
Received the book for an honest review. Blood Gift is book three in the Vampire's Choice series. Ms. Black continues to give us Dorian's point of view as the series parallels the Cora's Choice series. As Cora and Dorian's bond strengthens, we get a better understanding of Dorian's thoughts, feelings, hopes, fears and emotions. Very well written hitting on all spectrums of emotions. Can't wait for the next instalment in the series.
VM has outdone herself with this series. These books just keep getting better and better!! You love Dorian more and more after every book and this one is no different. We continue to see more about what he does when Cora isn't around and how much he cares about and how much he does just to try to make her happy and feel more comfortable with the bond. Everything you could want from a fantasy novella is in this book and it will leave you begging for the next book to come out ASAP!!!
I love how we are getting into the mind of Dorian!!! The sides of him are many but when it comes to Cora he tries to keep in check. She can be a handful sometimes but he truly loves her and wants whats best for her. Waited quite awhile for this one and it did not disappoint!! Can't wait to read the next one!!
Dorian's side continues in book 3. As always, Black does a great job of drawing the reader into the story. After reading Cora's version, this p.o.v. adds so many details and the backstory to the decisions that Dorian makes. I still love Dorian, but his p.o.v. doesn't paint him as highly as Cora's. I'm looking forward to the story continuing.
I'm loving seeing things from Dorian's perspective and POV. I have truly become addicted to this series.. I also learned from this book that Dorian has other children besides Clarissa (my favorite snarky vampire) that was an interesting tidbit. I love learning more about Dorian and just what exactly makes him tick. Excellent series.....
