Obviously, I'm not the main audience for this chapter book, but this was not nearly as enjoyable as the other My Little Pony books I've read. My advice is to stick with the comic collections (although the other chapter book I've read, "Discord and the Ponyville Players," wasn't so bad).
My complaints about this book are as follows:
1. The premise is absurd and full of scientific mumbo jumbo: "There is a mechanism to the magic that I am trying to unlock and reveal so that, if we need to, we can adjust the control settings and create an enhanced pony-up experience." This means that Sunset Shimmer -- a top student of magic and spell-making in Equestria -- is busy doing ridiculous things like measuring the size and shape of cracked eggs, creating an app to find invisible colors, etc.
2. The writing was sloppy, for example "kittens and PUPPIES MEOWING softly" (!!!). The ending also made Twilight Sparkle's reply sound ominous.
3. The characters didn't act like themselves. For example, Sunset Shimmer came off like a drama queen, and it only took a little performance monitoring to turn Rainbow Dash into a clutz.
4. It had no illustrations (whereas "Discord and the Pony Players" at least had simple illustrations).
Yes I did read another My Little Pony book, but this book was not that good. I think it was really stupid, in fact. I can't even imagine her doing that in the movies (and I actually like watching MLP sometimes). She acted really childish and she's supposed to be in high school... One of the only things I liked was when she identified what made her friends special and when she started to be friendly to people. And the cover? Just awful. Who thinks an stupid dress like this is pretty?! Come on. It's the worst dress I've ever seen and it makes her seem demonic.. Even though this book seems to be aimed at younger fans of the fandom, I don't recommend it. I won't waste my time with this book again.
Als Kind habe ich "My little Pony" geliebt.
Sunset shimmer’s outbursts of insecurity almost get people killed , she should go back to equestria for a fresh start because other people’s opinions of her are always negative (as they should be) at the school.
A cute original story set in the Equestria Girls universe, taking place after Rainbow Rocks and before The Friendship Games.
It was fun to see some world-building, what the Humane 6 get up to when they're not banding together to fight magical evil things. Apparently, Pinkie Pie is part of a million school clubs, and Applejack takes over the school kitchen for baking. Also Applejack works for the school newspaper?? Which is kind of random. And I thought baking was Pinkie's thing, but apparently not!
Oh, also turns out Sunset Shimmer is super proficient with technology and can design an app in a matter of minutes -- so that's a cool character trait!
I'd love to see more stories like this, that expand on the Equestria Girls universe.
Another cute installment in the EG series. Can be read as a stand alone, but does briefly refer multiple times to events that took place in the prior book (#3). It's not a big deal though if you haven't read the last book (Mane Event) as in truth it doesn't distract from this storyline. As with all the Equestria Girls books, this one has a strong focus on the theme of friendship and being who you are not what you think others want you to be.
This book is like every other book in the series, there is always problems that fluttershy, applejack, pinkie pie, rainbow dash and rarity have to solve. Still I like the series.
it was awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwsome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
