Stella who?
I enjoyed Cam & Theo’s story. It was indeed grown and sexy. Theo got caught up in the woman Cam was and it was a wrap!
The attraction was deeper than physical and Theo’s mind was made up quickly. Cam was still guarded but thanks to Britta, she took that leap. Although Britta wasn’t ready for what she encouraged her mom to do!
Overall, a great short read with enough spice and story. I need all the holiday shorts!

Reading Petty Season by D.L. White felt like seeing myself reflected on the page in a way that doesn’t happen often enough in Black romance.
So many of the romances I read center younger FMC just beginning to figure out love while the MMC falls hopelessly, passionately, and unapologetically for them. I adore those stories, but there was something profoundly moving about reading a FMC in her early fifties receiving that same kind of love.
This novella reminded me that love doesn’t have an expiration date.
Society has a way of convincing women our age that we’ve somehow aged out of being desired, doted on, or pursued with tenderness. Once we’re established in our careers, our businesses, our travels, and our independence, we’re expected to settle for companionship instead of passion.
D.L. White completely dismantles that stereotype.
She gives us a woman who is accomplished, self assured, and living a full life while still being worthy of an affectionate, passionate, intentional love that celebrates every part of who she is. And that’s exactly what resonated with me.
As a Black Woman in my fifties, this story wasn’t just romantic. It was affirming. It reminded me that we are still deserving of butterflies. We are still deserving of someone who chooses us, cherishes us, and loves us loudly. Our age doesn’t diminish our worthiness of deep, intentional love. If anything, it makes that love even richer.
I’m incredibly grateful I got to read this beautiful novella. Thank you, D.L. White, for reminding women like me that our love stories are still unfolding and that they deserve to be told just as beautifully.

Get It, Sis!
This was a fun and flirty beach read. Camille was so relatable. She had to be everything to everybody which left her needs unfulfilled. Her solo tropical vacation felt like a dream come true. The instant chemistry that she had with Theo was sexy. It felt good to see her finally being catered to like she deserved. Their age difference didn’t feel glaring because Theo was so grounded and mature. He knew exactly what he wanted and went for it. I was torn between wanting a happily ever after or just an unforgettable fling for them. Despite the title, the petty level was low. It was just a woman coming for everything the universe owed to her.

Enjoyable
I paused the book I was reading to dive into this and I wasn't disappointed. I loved how Camille took charge and finally changed what she didn't like (at the strong urging of her daughter Britta, who I adored). The chemistry between Camille and Theo was fun and hot and breezy, and them not running from or denying their feelings was satisfying.

4.5 🌟What a good book! This is my first read by D.L. White and will not be my last. Camille is 49 and tired; tired of doing and being everything for everyone; her cup is empty. She decides to unplug and and meets Theo who sees her. This is a story of rediscovering yourself and pouring into yourself with some spice 🌶🌶🌶
