Il était une fois une belle et gentille jeune fille. Après la mort de sa mère, son père se remaria avec une femme acariâtre qui avait deux filles : Anastasie et Javotte. Toutes les trois considéraient la jeune fille comme leur servante et la surnommèrent Cendrillon.

Il était une fois une belle et gentille jeune fille qui, malheureusement, avait perdu sa maman. Son père se remaria avec une femme acariâtre et vaniteuse qui avait deux filles : Anastasie et Javotte, toutes deux aussi méchantes que leur mère. Toutes les trois considéraient la jeune fille comme leur servante et lui faisaient accomplir toutes les tâches pénible : laver le sol, faire la vaisselle, la lessive. À la fin de la journée, épuisée par tant de travail, elle allait s’asseoir devant la cheminée, près des cendres. C’est pour cela que ses deux demi-soeurs l’appelèrent Cendrillon.

Li este livro para o projeto do DisneyInUs, que consiste em ver um filme da Disney por mês e ler o conto/livro que lhe deu origem. Os filmes são escolhidos à sorte e no mês de Maio calhou ver o Cinderela. O conto que deu origem a esse filme foi o Cinderela de Charles Perrault.

Ouvi o audiobook hoje e recordei-me todas as diferenças entre o que se conta e o original. Realmente era bem mais do que aquilo que é atualmente. O que me espanta é que ainda assim era contado daquela forma às crianças.

This has been an intriguing collection of Cinderella tales. I've very much enjoyed reading it and it has been quite useful in my Cinderella research. I love that the tales span different times and places. Some were straight up funky, and I mean funky. But others were really sweet or just interesting and a little different than the story we're used to. It had the big names like Perrault and Grimm, too, which was nice. It was a very well-rounded collection. It had versions that often reminded me of The Goose Girl or One Eye, Two Eyes, Three Eyes and then it had some that were unique and yet more that were kind of hard to see the Cinderella connection. All in all, I'm glad I bought it and will reference it in the future. Great little collection for any hardcore fairy tale fans.

Ілюстрації Галі Зінько роблять це коротке оповідання справжньою казкою, у яку, я – доросла готова вірити. Готова брати приклад, милуватись та щиро радіти цим цитринам від принца, хоч і всього лише намальованим.

This was fine. Seeing all of the different versions of this story was interesting, though sometimes rather repetitive. I enjoyed the essay at the end more than I expected to. Overall, a fairly average read, and not a book I think I will ever re-read.

This was a good story. A bit gory, but I was expecting that. The story is different from the Disney version but quite similar too. I was entertained throughout, the way this is written was fun to read.

I definitely like the movie versions better. There really isn't much to the book. This book has Charles Perrault and The Brothers Grimm version in it. I liked The Brothers Grimm version better.
