This is truly fine storytelling. In a lot of comics I have read recently, there either is too much exposition or not nearly enough. This story is in style that reveals enough of the past so things aren't maddeningly confusing, but doesn't go on ad nauseum into everything.
The story picks up from issue 1 in a flashback, where more of Rain's past is revealed. We still don't know precisely why the Origami is after her or the precise circumstances by which she got her scars, but I don't think it makes it too difficult to understand the present, which is to say, "they are after her."
Last thought before I stop prattling on: the art is still beautiful, as is the cover.
The only way I can describe the coloring is dark pastels. I love that aspect, and that we're getting a bit of backstory and fleshing out characters. I enjoy it, though, again, issues aren't enough for me to judge.
