Mercedes Crosby is a veterinarian and a damn good one. Darin Douglas is struggling to make ends meet as he opens his new bed and breakfast, The Douglas House. He has his first booking coming in in a few days and wants everything perfect, so he brings the family in to sample the first menu and to show off his new place. His brothers bring the already reluctant new Vet with them to dinner to meet the rest of the family, Darin and Zack. Darin met the Vet’s young daughter earlier that day and already loved the little girl, but he is surprised but not disappointed when his cat recognizes Mercedes as his mate.
Mercedes, on the other hand, is scared witless. She had found out a few hours before that paranormals really existed and she was living among them. Now, this big handsome brute is telling her that she belongs to him and his cat…ah, hell no.

'Darin' is the fourth book in "The Pride of the Double Deuce" series by Kathi S. Barton. As in most of the books by Ms. Barton that I've read, both the Hero and heroine of the story have very strong personalities and this book is no exception. Darin has decided he didn't want to be in the ranching business any longer. He'd grown up with it and, while his brothers and their mates were successful with it, Darin wanted something new. He's turned an old building into a type of hotel, a meeting center with a restaurant. At times it's an overwhelming experience with putting everything together, hiring staff for not only the hotel but the restaurant has him a bit frazzled. Suzie and Gerard have hired a vet to come to take care of the horses and other animals on their ranch. Mercedes has an exemplary reputation. She also has a young daughter. Between the both of them, they've been trying to stay clear from her ex-husband without any luck. He's all but ruined her financially, so this job offer has been a saving grace. Fate has made the perfect pairing with these two and it amazed me the plans that showed themselves for her daughter Bonnie. That was amazing! Drama, angst, good vs. evil, and the meaning of loyalty and love from family and friends all come together in this storyline.

Book 4 of The Pride of the Double Deuce....Douglas brother Darin is dealing with the finishing touches for the Douglas House bed & breakfast. Seeing his other brothers find their mates is fine with him, they have plenty of money to support a family. Darin is still driving a truck that only starts when it wants to, which isn't often.
Mercedes Crosby is a single parent with a young daughter, being a veterinarian in a practice that has her working long hours with very little pay. The Douglas family wants to hire her to be their doctor for their growing ranch. When Mercedes' ex-husband hurts her and her child once again, her new employers come to the rescue. Darin knows immediately that the young human is his mate, yet explaining that her new family are shifters is going to be difficult to say the least....let alone that the young cougar is her mate for life.
I love this shifter story and the Douglas brothers are fun to read about. Along with the wolf-shifters who are friends with family, we get to see how they band together in helping one another. If you love the paranormal....this series is for you....cougars, wolves and even a few vampires round out the list of characters.

Mercedes needs a change...quick. Thankfully her prayers have been answered as she's been hired to work for the Douglas family. It's time for Mercedes and her daughter, Bonnie, to get as far away as possible from Mercedes' ex-husband, Nash.
Darin has gotten his B&B started and is anticipating his first guests. What he wasn't expecting was meeting his mate and her daughter as well.
As Darin and Mercedes, and Bonnie, adjust to their new lives, both personally and professionally, thanks to the numerous happy changes taking place in the present, and therefore their future as well, it seems like Mercedes's past isn't quite ready to let her go.
Will Darin be able to keep Mercedes and Bonnie safe? Will they get their HEA? Will both of them enjoy their new jobs? How's the rest of the Douglas group doing?
One-click now and find out. This was another great story by Kathi and I fully enjoyed watching Darin find his mate and catching up with the other family members. Please keep in mind this is book four in the series and I do recommend reading this series in order for the sake of continuity and full enjoyment of the characters as previous ones are continually mentioned in each subsequent story.

The Douglas boys are prospering, the town in coming back and things are peaceful. The need for a full time Vet leads the family to Mercedes Crosby and her young daughter. Mercedes is in a bad place and jumps at the chance for a new life for her and her daughter, however parts of her old life don't want to let go. This was a great addition to this series, Mercedes is a strong women and just what Darin needs in a partner. Darin was not looking for a ready made family, but stepped up to the plate when his new family is in danger. I enjoyed seeing the characters we have become to love and really liked the new characters we are introduced too. The vampire Monroe is something else and is sure to make you smile and laugh. A lot of growth has happened in this family, the new family additions have add new depth and helped develop this already great storyline. Well written, easy to follow, great characters and Some interesting plot twist and turns keep you on your toes and a mystery man who I hope will appear again as I would love to know his story.
I can't wait to see what happens next.

But even a move across the country won't stop a man on a mission from following to get control of Mercedes once again.
Darin Douglas has his hands full as it is. Trying to open a new bed and breakfast while still struggling financially is hard work. Throw in a mate with a determined ex and Darin has his hands full. But once a Douglas finds their mate they will protect them with their last breathe.
I'm so excited to see the Douglas brothers and their mates are helping to bring their small town out of financial strains. They have opened up jobs for majority of towns people as well as helping the local pack. I love getting to see the love this family has for each other, their mates, as well as their dreams!

For those fans of Kathi S. Barton, you will not be disappointed in this latest addition to the Double Deuce. Darin offers a true to form read in a storyline that is a bit different from most. Darin is trying to make it on his own with his bed and breakfast inn when he meets a little girl and falls in love. The new vet on the Double Deuce has brought her daughter with her for her new job. Still, she isn't sure if she should actually take the job or not. Her ex husband is determined to see her and their child gone. Went she meets Darin, she knows there is something about him that draws her in like a magnet. As she learns more about the the family and Darin, she finds out she is his mate and he will do whatever needs to be done to protect both of them. When her ex comes calling, he is met with a menagerie of paranormals. People like him just wont believe what is thrown in their faces. When he tries to make good on his threats, Darin and his family and friends meet him head on. Love Darin and his brothers.

Fantastic
I really enjoyed reading this book. This book was a little different from the others, in that there were multiple side stories. It detracted a little from the main story, but also added a lot to the drama and intrigue. I loved Mercedes and Darin's characters, and they made a great couple. The one thing I disliked about Mercedes is the fact she would not agree to do what was necessary to get Nash out of her life. While I can understand her reasoning, after Bonnie was almost killed, I felt she would have been more open to the idea. The sub-story with Bonnie and Patrick was great, and I loved how that played out. I, however, do hope to learn more about the mysterious Austin. He was a character that wasn't introduced until the end but made a big impact. I am looking forward to reading more by this author.

Hmm!
This book was not only very good but very interesting too. But, both mating to me were a give away. The 1st mating has to do with the title of this book Darin. The 2nd meeting of mates in this book...well, you’ll have to read this book to find out who it is or they are.
Darin has just open up a hotel for businessmen who not only would have meetings at his hotel if they wanted to but could also have dealings with the people of the town.
Mercedes is a vet that Gerard & Susie have hired to not only take care of the horses but & cattle too. But, Mercedes not only comes with her 10 year old daughter but some baggage with her ex-husband.

Kathi has done it again, she has created a story that was a joy to read and is already in my pile to re-read as well as the rest of the series.
The story followed perfectly and was easy to recap what had happened with previous books in the series.
It's was nice to see a strong mother and daughter bond as well as the love that easily builds from the start between the two main characters.
The main character are Darin and Mercedes. Their love shows from the start and I am amazed every time I read a story that Kathi has written as she has a way with words that I have to keep reading until it ends.

Mercedes Crosby is the new Vet hired by Darin's family and she is trying to get out from under her ex's thumb so to speak. Darin knows as soon as he meets her who she is to him.

Mercedes Crosby is in trouble. Her ex is trying to harm her and her daughter. They are taken to the Double Duece Ranch where she meets Darin Douglas. Darin realizes that Mercedes is his mate now he needs to introduce her to his world., not an easy job. This is a good book. It does have some sex in it and it is a paranormal. This book may not be for all. The story is great and exciting when the ex, Nash , tries to kidnap them both. Good read

Wow Mercedes & Darin story was bomb. From the first page to the last it was action packed, Nash was a slim ball and an a$$hole to the fullest. Darin & Mercedes had so much chemistry it was coming off my kindle pages LOL. Loved the side story with Bonnie & Patrick I hope we'll get to read their story soon. Great Read!!!

I loved this book. I could not put it down until I was finished. It moved along at a great pace, has amazing characters that you want to see happy no matter what and a story that will not let you down. This book needs to be read, there is no doubt about it.
