It’s only a matter of time before everything Krissa loves is destroyed. Krissa Barnette is finally getting a handle on her psychic and magical abilities when a binding spell changes everything. Now, with her thoughts and emotions linked to both Owen and Fox, keeping secrets from either of them is nearly impossible. When new threats arrive in Clearwater, Krissa must accept help from people she doesn’t trust to keep a power-hungry madman from destroying the town. But even the combined powers of the witches and psychics might not be enough to rid the world of his evil. If Clearwater falls, so does the world…
Krissa out her trust into the wrong person. Seth has now accumulated enough power to get away from the circle and start gathering forces to finish what he started centuries ago. Krissa along with the Witches and Psychics are coming to terms with being bound to eachother. Of course, her bonds are to the last 2 people she wants to feel and have her feeling know by. Owen and Fox. The group must come together and try to save the town, their magic and themselves before Seth becomes all powerful. Can they do it? (And what's up with Crystal? She's hardly involved.....)
Similarly to the previous book, it had a good storyline but I wasn't as hooked as the first book.
It introduced a few new characters and family relations and their powers are getting stronger as they learn more control and new skills. It also tied up a few loose ends and plot holes which was good.
Ended with an interesting cliffhanger, intrigued to know what happens next...
This series always has me questioning: are they ever going back to their reality or is it too late now?
This was the 3rd book in the Clearwater Witches Series and it was every bit as good as the first two! There are lots of surprises and lots of unexpected happenings, but it all works ot in the end.. almost. This is a very good book in a very good series! Can't wait to start book 4!
There are certainly a lot of plot twists in this novel. I am pretty tired of the Krissa/Owen/Fox triangle. Plus the whole people keep warning Krissa about Crystal and Krissa insists nothing’s wrong annoys me. Perhaps a future sequel will explain why Krissa can’t sense what’s wrong. I think I purchased the next two novels. I’m not sure if I’ll keep reading after that.
Awesome book. I couldn’t put it down after I started.
The character were believable. You felt like you were right there with them. Only complaint is that it should have been proofread before print as there are a lot of errors.
Another really good page turner... but I will be abandoning the series because I'm not on board with love triangles and conflict that can be easily solved by communication. But, honestly? It's very teen, so... points there!

Very quick and enjoyable read. It flows very well that you have to keep reading to see what happens at each step. Great character development and storytelling.
the first book in this series was very indulging but as it went on I got more and more bored but I was also 11 when I read it and I dint remember much. I might re read it
I gave this 3 stars, but I wish I could give it 3.5. It's a decent series so far, but it's nothing fantastic. I'll finish the series, but I'm waiting to see how they plan to continue elevating the threat and changing things.
I really rather like this series and enjoyed reading it, including this book, so it's more like a 3,5 stars. But there just are some issues - about the series in general but specifically this book - that are ticking me off more and more:
SPOILERALERT
The main protagonist, Krissa, is far too little inquisitive for my liking. She notices odd things all around (like the whole Crystal thing: layers of shadow in her consciousness, Tucker's inability to sense her, Lexies gut feeling, her calling Tucker Thatcher...) but never even gets curious enough to investigate. And the whole Anya situation, I mean seriously, how credible is that. If my father returns after five years of absence with another woman who he's far to familiar with for my liking, there is no way in hell I wouldn't raise said hell to find out what the heck is going on and to demand answers from him! What is wrong with Krissa - and her mother for that matter?
And staying with her mom. She is just so unbelievable as a character, she completely falls flat. She is so weak and backboneless I always forgot she is back and kept having these 'Oh, yeah, she's got her mother back now' moments. What kind of mother just goes of to work while her daughter is in mortal danger and not even protests when her own husband, father of her daughter and his may-or-may-not-be mistress want to let her throw herself in the line of fire? And again with the Anya situation. No questions? No objections? Seriously, her mom is supposed to be one of the trade-offs for the losses Krissa suffers in this new timeline, where she has lost some of her friends to different personalities, some to death and has to deal with the whole Fox/Owen situation, but what kind of trade-off is she, she could just as well be missing Many of the characters just don't act like people at all. There is the weakness of her mom and the lack of inquisitiveness, but what also struck me as totally unrelatable was that they never get angry. Ok, so there is the lingering resentment towards Tucker, but about things happening in the actual timeline? There is the Elder Circle, trying to rid them of their abilities, blaming them, accusing them, insulting them and just being an group of obnoxious old (and joung) farts, and they never even get remotely angry with them. Then there is Dana, who is telling everybody what she 'stole' from the privacy of Krissa's mind WHILE Krissa was trying to help her AND uses it to make a move on FOx, trying to hurt Krissa. How mean is that. How does she not get angry. And Griffing, being a total dick and stealing her power. Neither Fox nor Krissa really get upset, yeah, I know, Fox fights him, but thats it.
So yeah, I really have issues with this book and I hope that some of them will get better with the next one, or I probably won't finish this series. Sad.
Well, I guess I DID finish this. For some reason I was thinking I had stopped, then saw here on GoodReads I'd read and reviewed book 3. I have a digital-combo set, so I knew I was reading from the set, but honestly not sure of which book, and I thought maybe it was book 4. But no, it was book 3. Funny, I really didn't remember it. I had a vague memory of the events getting us to this point, enough to continue on, and I'm not sure why my "place" had been positioned back at the start. At one point near the end, there was a note I'd left, so yes, I had read this before. I probably feel about the same as my original review!
**** Initial Review 10/2018 ***** I bought the set (books 1-3) ... I enjoyed the first two books, but stalled a bit here in book three. Some of it isn't even the story, but MY situation. Having a library book or two come in on hold (with a due date), my audiobooks, my Kindle lending library book ... I had started this, and then switched and came back to it. Maybe more than once. So, it was a bit disjointed in my reading.
I think I got a little overwhelmed with all the characters. Keeping track of which are witches, and which ones are psychics, and of course Krissa (and Seth) is both. Then there are a whole bunch of people who know about the witches and psychics, but aren't either, but still can use some of the powers and ... I don't know. It just got to be a little too much. Maybe if I'd read it straight through without my detours I would have followed it all better and enjoyed it more.
While I'm not uninterested in continuing on, I'd have to buy the next books, and I don't think I'm committed enough to pay for them.
I'm still enjoying this series just as much as I did in the beginning. I like that the author is actually continuing the story rather than just dragging things out. Some series are actually just one book chopped up into smaller parts, but these are all separate, complete books. Each story has a conclusion to the action occurring in that book. It doesn't leave the reader on a cliffhanger, but I am eager to know what will happen next in the main character's life. More has been revealed about her friends and her family, and new characters have been introduced.
The love triangle isn't that intense for me, since there isn't any real question about who she really wants. It does add drama to the story, though, because it creates tension between the characters. Her friendships are actually more complex than her love life, and that's a refreshing change in a YA book. Her life doesn't completely revolve around hot guys.
After Seth's original defeat, Krissa and the others learn that that was merely the beginning. And not only are the others bound to one another (Krissa has the worst of it for being bound to BOTH Owen and Fox), but Krissa's father has returned to the fold.
What is interesting is how the binding spell that was placed on the circle(s) worked; being bound to the least wanted person possible. And the series has indeed taken a turn into the path of darkness. Truthfully, I'm intrigued with the twist. While we do get an idea of how Seth turned into the person he is now, I do wonder what else it was that did so. We see that Bess' death was the main cause, but with how Seth acts and how he's collected his followers, the seed had to have been planted sooner.
Just when I thought it was getting good well it sarted getting really annoying.. It seemed like there was too much whining in the story like these teens and their drama was meant to enhance the book make it more juicy but it did the opposite it sucked the life out of it and left dullness in its wake ..... Maybe I should move on to more sophisticated books with extensive interesting characters and way less drama....but I've invested too much time to quite the reading now....I mean the story isn't horrible just prepare to get bored a lot in between reading that's why it took me a little over a week to read because I kept getting side tracked I don't know where this book is going we'll see
Despite of the obvious weaknesses I liked the first book and tolerated the downfall of the second. But those annoyances grew substantially here: self-centered heroine whining about friends, enemies, boys, girls, parents, neighbours, it doesn't matter what, it always comes back to the same thing: herself.
Like with most YA, parents and adults in general are almost all totally useless or at least wrong - not a good message in my opinion.
Still, the storyline was quite interesting and apart from the detestable triangle I enjoyed getting to know the other characters - I only wished the so-called main characters could be as interesting as the rest of them.
I haven't been able to put this book down, wanting to know the out come and who she will choose, I know it's silly but I was kinda voting for Fox. The book ended and I was a little disappointed with where things were heading. Not exactly a cliff hanger but too many unresolved items that I am now waiting on book four in hope it will give some closure.
I did enjoy the book and will be reading the next one. But Krissa can be annoying with all the I don't know what I want story.just hope she doesn't loose Owen in the process. Seth end was too quick and dare I say easy? Perhaps he will return somehow? Hope next book is due soon.
I really....really enjoy reading this series! I enjoy the author's creativity when it comes to the different directions she takes the books as the series progresses. Such a great series-the author does not give you a chance to be bored with any of the books! Love it!
Decent light reading. Krissa can be very self-absorbed and uninquisitive, which bothers me. I would rather a more active protagonist, but overall, I still enjoyed it. I definitely think I'll see this series out.
