From Lost to Found

There are probably as many reasons to write poetry as there are people who engage in this art. Some poets are artists who bring scenes alive through their words. Others are academics who study structure and refinement. Still others create poems as an emotional release. I count myself amongst the later group. For me, the creation of a poem allows me to work through my issues while giving me a great avenue for insight into where the real problem lies and how I can learn from this experience.

From Lost to Found is a compilation of my works throughout an intensive learning process in my life. I had spent many years fighting to achieve my dreams and to the outside world I looked quite successful. But as they say “looks can be deceiving” and that was definitely the case for me. Not only did I not feel valuable as a person but I kept setting the bar of success higher and higher, testing and torturing myself until my body started to collapse. Poetry made me realize what was really missing.
