The Kraken King's Curse: A Dark Monster Romance

Rate this book
What was supposed to be a chance to find love on the high seas soon becomes a nightmare…

Eve Quinn has never been lucky in love. After one particularly disastrous first date, she decides to take a chance and board the maiden voyage of Love on the High Seas—a singles cruise promising to find every passenger their perfect match. The crew is charming and the wine never stops flowing. For the first time in years, she thinks her luck may finally be changing.

Until the sirens sound.

A violent whirlpool swallows the ship, and creatures with scales and tentacles rise from the depths. They take every woman aboard and leave the men for dead. Dragged beneath the waves, Eve realizes there are fates far worse than being single at twenty-seven.

A curse only she can free the Kraken King from…

King Harven has spent centuries searching for his queen. Desperate for answers, he turns to the Sea-Witch Gyll and learns a devastating truth—his mate is not of the Kingdom of the Deep.

She is human.

Only his true queen can survive beneath the waves and secure the future of his line. So when a ship carrying hundreds of human women drifts above his kingdom, Harven knows his mate must be among them.

And he will do whatever it takes to secure her.

The only way for her to survive is to win the King’s favor…

Eve awakens as the sole-surivor and realizes escaping isn’t an option. Their King is a forbidding figure who looks at her with hungry eyes, and grazes her skin with seeking tentacles. He is the reason the rest of the human women perished. She should fear him—hate him.

But beneath his monstrous exterior is something she never expected.

To survive, Eve must convince everyone she is willing to become the King’s queen and bear his heirs. Yet the longer she remains beneath the sea, the harder it becomes to separate survival from desire.

Because if she cannot become the queen the kingdom needs… she may never see the surface again.

4.25 stars!

Ok so when I started this I didn’t think I was going to like it. The FMC, Eve, was whiny and all “woe is me.” The MMC, Harven, felt too soft and kind of dumb.

BUT damnnnn…

This turned the corner fast😂😂. Suddenly tentacles were everywhere, Harven was all dominant and demanding and Eve was feisty as f*ck in the best ways. She made Harven work for her. And Harven knew exactly what she needed.

Did both of them make some questionable decisions? Sure. But their love unfolded in such a sexy way and my lord the sex🥵🥵🥵.

This story had a really interesting world and hierarchy, some mild OW drama that almost pissed me off and relationship development that went beyond just monster f*cking. I really enjoyed this steamy read!

Overall, a fun read, but it deserved a cleaner execution.

The pacing of this book was top-notch and the spice was definitely spicing! I loved the dynamic between the leads, Harven is the ultimate "burn the world for her" MMC and Eve knows exactly how to push his buttons to get what she wants. As a spicy monster romance, the plot and chemistry really hit the mark.

However, the writing quality noticeably dipped toward the end and the book was dragged down by avoidable editing errors. While a minor typo here and there is understandable, having the main character's name misspelled at least three times is hard to look past. It definitely needed a thorough final proofread before publishing.

Love a possessive monster

I was a little apprehensive about this book what his POV begun with the Kings Pearls. I do not accept cheating in my romances. Even if they aren't official yet. I hate it. But I was happy that that did not take place. Definitely owd. But he is faithful even with the culture of the pearls which means I was able to enjoy this book. He is a little dark, possessive and obsessive which is how I like my book men. Give it a go if you like monster romance

Eve and Harven were stunning together - Eve wanted someone in love with her, obsessed. Well fate delivered - a strong Kraken King obsessed with his mate, willing to do anything to find her, protect her and love her✨️

There was several issues between them based on their own species upbringing and rules, but together they adapted and their views, customs and behaviour as they accommodated each other. Realising their affection and soon love for each other? YES🔥🔥🔥

Seeing as Eve slowly realised how much she loved Harven? 🥺🥺🥺 Adorbs

Harven just being a puddle of love and need for Eve, willing to do anything and everything for her, ughhhh the best. Fated Mates is definitely my thing 🤣
