A SUMMARY AND OVERVIEW OF CAYCE’S PROPHECIES, ETC.

Mary Ellen Carter wrote in the first chapter of this 1968 book, “During his lifetime, Edgar Cayce previsioned the vicissitudes of the Great Depression, pointing out its reasons and its end. He warned of America’s entrance into World War II unless she prayed and acted as she prayed. He foretold the New Age Dispensation, which he said would come when ‘those who are His’ have made the way possible and man’s history is ‘folded up.’ He was a world prophet speaking for all the nations, for ancient nations long forgotten by man, and for future centuries hence. He spoke in terms of the long view, in which he himself had been a prophet in at least one past life, and foretold that he would return again in 2100 A.D., remembering his identity as Edgar Cayce!” (Pg. 10-11)

She notes, “People who never heard of Cayce before 1967 are reading of him, talking about him, and speculating over the many new ideas his life represents. Foremost among these, of course, is reincarnation… There are many such ‘interesting ideas’ in the file which are awaiting perusal of the kind that scholars and researchers… who insist on leaving no stone unturned in the search for the answers to many questions” (Pg. 15)

She reports, “The year 1998 is given in a number of readings for the time of this great event [the New/Aquarian Age]. By that time, the world will have seen much drastic change and upheaval of both a geological and social nature… What specifically can we expect for 1998? The reading firmly state that there will be ‘less of wars’ even before then, that peace will come to the world, and that man will learn more and more how to benefit from scientific discoveries still in the offing! For centuries people have been predicting the end of the world and have been fooled every time… Why should we believe it’s really happening now? The answer is: Look within.” (Pg. 29)

She states, “readings given in the 1930s and ‘40s tell of FUTURE geological changes which Cayce ways will take place in the earth. One of the most startling predictions is that Atlantis will rise once again.”.. we can expect it in 1968 or 1969!” (Pg. 57)

She records, “The earth changes as forecast by Cayce are as follows: … THE ATLANTIC: ‘Lands will appear in the Atlantic as well as in the Pacific… Expect it in sixty-eight or sixty-nine…’ THE PACIFIC: ‘Lands will appear… The greater portion of Japan must go into the sea…; EUROPE: ‘The upper portion of Europe will be changed in the twinkling of an eye… Even many of the battlefields of the present [1941] will be ocean…’ AMERICA: … ‘Los Angeles, San Francisco, most all of these will be among those that will be destroyed before New York, even…. Portions of the now east coast of New York, or New York itself, will in the main disappear… the southern portions of Carolina, Georgia, these will disappear… The waters of the Great Lakes will empty into the Gulf of Mexico…” (Pg. 61-62)

She wrote, “How is prophecy possible? Destiny, said Edgar Cayce, is created in Time and Space. ‘Those activities (of men) make for such an impression upon the realm of data, or between Time and Space, as to make for what man have called Destiny… in the material affairs of individuals.” (Pg 182)

Personally, I’m quite skeptical of ‘prophets’ who make specific predictions, that do not come true…

this book is garbage. After the 4th or 5th patently untrue statement the author made, my mind was pretty much made up. Cayce was a religious zealot and probably a charlatan.

It was really interesting learning about Edgar Cayce, although the subject matter got quite philosophical at times and a little tough for me to get through.
