The Rosewoods #5

This Point Forward

Rate this book
Emmeline Somerville is the resident philanthropist at The Rosewood Academy for Academic Excellence. She cares deeply about human rights, animals, the planet and most of all, her friends at Rosewood. But sometimes caring so much about other people means the one person you should care about most—yourself—gets overlooked. Now that her former boyfriend Dave is with her roommate Brooklyn, Emmie tries to move forward, but it’s hard because maybe she wasn’t completely over Dave and perhaps she isn’t completely okay with him and Brooklyn dating. Or maybe the worst part is being left behind.

To add to Emmie’s troubles, in a moment of panic, she’s made an accusation against a member of the community—a troubled boy with a mysterious past—and now she must face the consequences of her split-second decision. Consequences she never could have seen coming. Consequences that will change both of their lives forever.

And then there’s Rob, Brooklyn’s older brother and the new handyman working on campus at Rosewood. He’s gorgeous and funny and shares Emmie’s love for movies. Sort of. What at first seemed like a fun way to pass time starts to turn into more than either of them bargained for. And when the Christmas holidays arrive, Emmie has to say goodbye to her friends and Rob to face the holidays on her own.

This Point Forward is the fifth book in The Rosewoods, an exciting new Young Adult series for readers who love fun, flirty love stories.

Sweet

This is another pause from the Brooklyn story, in stead we follow Emmie and get to know two of her love interests. Emmie have a heart of gold and surely there's a boy - or almost man - out there for her. I'm hooked on Rosewoods and think you will be too.

I was very excited to get a book revolving around Emmie. She's one of the characters I was most excited to see a book about. With the drama of Brooklyn leaving and not being able to tell anyone the real reason, Emmie is left floundering. I found her relationship with Rob interesting, but agreed with her friends that it probably wasn't for the best. Then in comes Danny and I have to admit I was hesitant at first, but after reading more of the book, I found I agreed him to be a good fit for Emmie.

I'm still very eager to find out what's going on with Brooklyn and if she will be returning to Rosewood. These books are very addicting and I am definitely going to continue with the series!

The Rosewoods #5 focuses on Emmie (FYI, probably the girl I didn’t care to much for)
This story revolves around her issues with her ex Dave and her blossoming friendship/romance with Robert, Brooklyn’s brother (who has been hired by the dean to do maintenance around the campus).
Throw in a chance meeting with Danny, a tattooed hot ex felon and her continuing issues with her parents and one lonely Christmas holiday we’re love blooms and you get the picture.
While at times I found Emmaline’s to be pushy, nosey and a tad annoying, I’m glad I stayed until the end

This was such a great part of this series! I believe it was also the most mature installment in terms of emotions. I loved reading this and I have found my new favourite fictional character to be Emmeline Somerville.

It's after Thanksgiving, during junior year at Rosewoods Academy. Brooklyn left suddenly for London and Emmie is now alone again in her room. This, of course, is difficult for her because of her separation anxiety issues. Chelly steps in as best she can to be a good friend and the two girls grow closer and do a lot more together during the last few weeks of the semester.
But Emmie is still lonely and it's not helping that she's still trying to avoid Dave. But Brooklyn's brother, Rob, is still on campus in all his hotness. And Emmie and Rob get a little more involved than they probably should.
But along comes a new hot stranger who has a definite dangerous vibe. Could Danny be that "bad-boy" Emmie's been looking for? Or is he even too bad for her?
This was a fun book to read, but definitely emotional. There were a lot of deeper issues brought up in this book too. More so than the previous books.

My Review: While I was really disappointed that this book didn't continue with Brooklyn, I really got over it. Emmie's story was filled with emotion and connections. I loved her spunk but also her timid insecurities. I love how she is so concerned about everyone else and while she throws money at these issues she does it with love and caring. I really enjoyed Danny and his story, that got very emotional. I loved how the connect between them developed, though it was seemed a little quick at times. This is a great YA romance series that manages to remain clean.

Hmm. Where to start?!

This series is now officially one of my favourites and this is by far my favourite Rosewood book yet. Although the start was a bit slow for me (might have been because I was in the middle of another series), and the change of point of view a bit unusual and made me feel a bit weird, once I started really really reading, I quickly adapted to Emmie's point of view, as it had been a while since I read I'll Never Forget, and couldn't let the book down! And I have to say that I really loved the change, which kind of leaves me dreading changing back to Brooklyn's POV, but I'm sure I'll love the next book anyway!
Anyway, I love Emmie, I love her story and her way of telling it. This book was so different from the others and made me smile and cry at the same time! The storyline was unpredictable and I seriously wasn't expecting the book to finish when it did as I was so into it!
I really enjoyed reading what was going through Emmie's mind as it sure is different from B's and the misunderstandings are hilarious! Can't wait for more Emmie!

Ps: still rooting for Brady, wish he made an appearance! <3

Really enjoyed this book. So far I have loved the change of point of views that Katrina has done in the various books and this one did not disappoint! This particular book was told from Emmie's point of view. The one thing that this book had that the others didn't was the inclusion of the bad boy - loved him and this story! Such a great pairing! I am totally ready for Book 6 to come out.

One for the road..

I liked this book, I read it every chance I got. The banter between Rob and Emmie was quite amusing.

I kind of guessed a few things along the way and was rewarded when my suspicions were correct. onto the next one!

I'm glad that Emmie has finally got her man! He's perfect for her and they will become a power couple for charity and helping others. They both feel so much and it's a good fit!

Lots of compassion, but too sensitive too, like crybaby sensitive.
Danny being her anchor. Cute.
