The third book in the acclaimed Jia Khan series, for me best, this is read where the quality and richness of the storytelling shine through, a read packed with heart, emotion and a powerful voice.
I love this series and it was so easy to fall back into Jias world, the opening pages draw you in, it takes you into a dark world of power and control. At times it feels like a game and your not sure who is playing who, only the stakes are very real, one thing I like about the books, this is a story and world you don’t often see depicted in crime fiction.
Slick and tightly plotted, the way the narrative builds, more than packing a punch with protagonists who stand out on the page, as characters they are well rounded, I felt as though I could picture them in my mind.
I felt a slight sea change in Jia within this book a more emotinal and thoughtful side, not withstandig she is still a strong fiercely independent woman able to move in any circles, quick thinking and sharp witted, still with a ruthless streak, a formidable opponent for anyone who wants to stand in her way, Family and loyalty is all here.
The way the story delves into the murky world of the corridoors of power, where corruption and greed go hand in hand, showing the extent to what those in power will do to remain so and how in todays social media world manipulation is only a heart beat away.
When I was reading the book, I felt an undercurrant of suspense running throughout, it had a real atmospheric feel, you could sense the tension between the various parties bubbling under the surface.
It was wonderfully paced, the way the story ebbed and flowed building up to its dramatic conclusion.
This was a read which had me gripped throughout, a highly compelling and engaging read which at times I found hard to put down.

Wow, Deliverance is a cracker of a read. Saima Mir has excelled here and I think this is the best book in the series. Jia has success and power which comes with enemies who want to bring her down. She wants to legitimise her business and is promised help from powerful people if she does as they want. Deliverance is beautifully written, Jia remains passionate for the empowerment of women and stays true to her roots. The plot is well thought out with lots of intricate threads that I love. The descriptions of the women, their customs, traditions and values is eloquently done and very heartfelt. The story shows how easily social media can be manipulated and reflects the world today. There is a lot of suspense in the writing that just made me want to know more. Jia is more insightful and thoughtful here although still able to do what is needed to protect the women (and men) in her jirga.
Overall a great read I found hard to put down. I'd recommend this although say read the previous books first to know the characters from the start.

From beginnings running drugs and prostitution in her northern hometown, Jia Khan now heads a multinational operation. First and foremost she is devoted to her family but sometimes her husband does not see that as Jia is ruthless in business and not afraid to get her hands dirty. She has mad enemies with a shadowy international group and is being courted by a government-affiliated organisation. When her young son is kidnapped, Jia calls upon her most important resources, the woman she has supported for years.
I have read many really glowing reviews about Mir's previous novels and I can see why they are so popular. There is a little grounding in the northern setting but essentially this is an international thriller. I did like the female-focussed perspective, particularly with regard to the Pakistani section of the book, and the ending was nicely done!

Saima Mir is an author who I feel should receive more acclaim and success. All of her books are so carefully written, full of wonderfully creative metaphors and descriptions. This is no exception, with a story full of emotion and elegance, it stands proud in a sea of macho thrillers as something proudly and profoundly different.
I hope this book is the catalyst for something different, both in terms of topics but more importantly with the recognition and success this series absolutely deserves.

It’s been almost five years since I first read The Khan and I become captivated with the exploits of Jia Khan. With each new book Saima Mir continues to thrill and keep the reader enthralled until the last word. So many times whilst reading this fabulous book I had to take a deep breath before I could carry on. This is definitely not a book for the faint hearted. I absolutely loved reading this book. I tried to take my time to savour it by reading it slowly but it the end this could not be done as I needed to know the ending. Many thanks to Saima Mir for writing such an amazing book.

An exciting - and moving end to the trilogy. I'll miss Jia Khan - and enjoyed reading about her developing relationships with her sons and her trip to Pakistan. Can an international criminal chief put all the violence and wrongdoing behind them? I like the end of the novel.
