It takes well laid plans to build a lasting relationship. Jameson (J.D.) Reid has years of experience designing tall buildings and even restoring majestic structures. She's worked to lay a solid foundation to her burgeoning relationship with Senator Candace Fletcher. But, love and architecture require different materials and tools. The landscape of Washington politics coupled with the opinions and intrusions of family are proving to be a bit rockier than most of the ground Jameson has had to navigate in the past. Can Jameson draft the right plans? Will the senator she has fallen so deeply in love with help her build on their still tentative foundation? Love is the main ingredient, but Jameson and Candace are finding their relationship is still UNDER CONSTRUCTION.
First was good second even better. Had me giggling from word one and I'm not normally a giggler (is that an actual word? lol). Having your kids listening to your private moments has to be embarrassing. But the author had me in hysterics. I think there was actual tears. Keep the laughs coming i'm really looking forward to book three.
Candace and Jameson have found each other and are madly in love. But there are some questions to be ask, what do they want from the future, from each other? And what are the political ambitions of the senator?
Beside the questions, there is the first family gathering on 4th of july. Will their friends and families fit together? What are Candace’s children thinking of her mother with her much younger lover?
The romance is still fresh and sweet and they can’t get their hands off each other. There are some fun parts in this books. Especially with the family members. Armstrong is very good on one-to-one talking in her books and the small daily moments. These moments and dialogues makes you smile and sometimes laughing, they are witty and heartwarming.
I love this series and I will continue to read. My rating 4,25 stars.
Continues to be great. I love the introduction of their family members. I also think it's great that this series can have them laughing about sex, whether it's the kids poking fun at Candace, or Emerson's parents poking fun at her. It's such a healthy approach that is rarely shown.
I am really liking the Candace and Jameson romance. For me book two was better than one. Book one sorta was too quick for me. Book two has been a better pace. I will continue reading.
This book is in the series By Design by Armstrong. I like her books. They are light and smooth in their presentation. I would recommend this series to anyone who likes romance.
Second in the By Design novella series. Now a few months into their relationship the couple decides to host a Fourth of July holiday weekend with members from both families included. Some conflict brought on by Candace's kids leads to series discussions about the future. Also a very steamy scene made me laugh as you get the other household reactions to the noise created. The humor and family interaction moved this higher in my ratings than the first book.
Huh. I'm kind of surprised. After the first story in this series, I'm surprised by how much I loved this story here. I always seem to get smacked by family stories. Family gathering stories, I mean. Not really sure what that's about. If well written, I seem to end up loving them. Which is weird, because I don't think I actually like family gatherings.
Right. So. J.D. and Candy have their families over for a July 4th celebration. Meanwhile both are working really hard at work, while at the same time adjusting to being in a loving relationship with each other.
Meanwhile Candy's kids are adjusting to having J.D. in the family. Well, mostly Marianne, the oldest.
re: J.D. - I tend to try to use the names as used in stories/series. For a while there I thought it was going to be J.D. so I used that. I'm not sure anyone called her J.D. in this one. mmphs. hehe. Everyone was calling her Jameson. Ah well, I got stuck using J.D. so . . ..
Candace, Jameson and the family and friends that surround them are a fun and caring bunch. This is a fun read of two people working to find love and happiness. In particular, I like how they care about each other and consider each others' feelings. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.
It's getting better and better. Brilliant how this story developed. I'm very curious to see where this all leads. There is still plenty to build and therefore I can't wait for the release of part 3. Chapeau for another amazing part.
It is really fun. I feel good in my heart and spirit after reading this book. It is very enjoyable, has fun scenes and the family connection is really put out there in a way that I find very captivating.
This second installment of the well written tale of Candace and Jameson's love story continues building their well developed characters and detailing their engrossing relationship. Outside pressure from family members and colleagues abound. The couple are forced to face questions they previously haven't considered, at least seriously. Will work and familial pressures cause positive reflection or drive the first wedge between them? This book should be added to your must-read list. (This second installment doesn't end with a cliff-hanger.)
In this sequel to By Design , we follow Candace and Jameson as they embark on the blissful honeymoon phase that comes with a new relationship.
I really enjoy the fact that the author manages to walk the fine line between keeping the sub-plots interesting enough to follow, and yet keeping the growing romance between our two lovebirds in the spotlight.
Much like the first one, I really adore the interactions between Candace and Jameson. It's just the perfect mix between straight dripping with fluff and easy banter.
Really recommended to any who needs a quick pick-me-up read, because this series so far really succeeds with making me smile like a maniac and laugh like a fool.
Plot: This is the second installment in a long boring series. In this “book” Candace and Jameson meet each other’s families. The author never really introduces Jameson’s family because Jameson is barely a developed character. Candace’s daughter is selfish and causes a quick argument but in the end everyone gets along. The end.
Characterization: Candace is still basically perfect plus a bit guarded.
Jameson likes climbing tall stuff.
Writing: This was written in third person perspective. This was lazily written. There were lots of typos and this whole thing barely counts as a book.
The relationship between Jameson and Candace continues to grow in the second By Design novel. I really love good series that develop the characters and their relationships and this one does not disappoint. Is everything rainbows and sunshine in all the relationships? No. That is what makes it real. The growing as a family is what this series seems to be about and it makes it awesome.
This was an amazing continuation of the story and journey of Candace and Jameson. This is a wonderfully written series and fantastic story about life, love and family and endless possibilities.
Fantastic character development is really the hallmark of J.A. Armstrong's stories. The way she builds the story and gets you invested in the characters is wonderful.
More of the Fletcher-Reid clan. The amazing relationship between the MCs and the loveable family members we meet along the way. JA Armstrong does a fabulous job with this cast of characters that you can't get enough of. Can't wait for more.
Under Construction, the second installment in the By Design universe, is an enjoyable relationship development story. Love JD, Candace, and all the secondary characters. Cannot help but fall in love with the main characters who are great together.
4 stars. Much better than the first book. I really enjoyed this one a lot. I just adore Candace and J.D. so much and I feel like their romance really flourished here and I’m all in with it and this series now. I’m glad that I continued on because so far this series is light and quick reads.
