But Jack and Chandler have more to deal with than each other. When a blackmail scheme turns into a terrorist plot, it will take their combined efforts to save the city.

Unless they die trying.

Joe Konrath has written over twenty novels in the Lt. Jacqueline "Jack" Daniels thriller series. They do not have to be read chronologically to be enjoyed, but the order is: Whiskey Sour, Bloody Mary, Rusty Nail, Dirty Martini, Shot of Tequila, Fuzzy Navel, Cherry Bomb, Dead On My Feet, Serial Killers Uncut (with Blake Crouch), Shaken, Stirred (with Blake Crouch), Dying Breath, Everybody Dies, Rum Runner, Last Call, White Russian, Shot Girl, Chaser, Old Fashioned, Bite Force, and Witch Brew. More coming soon.

Wow, that's a lot of Jack.

If you like your thrillers on the dark side, check out the Konrath Dark Thriller Collective, which includes the books The List, Origin, Afraid, Trapped, Endurance, Haunted House, Webcam, Disturb, What Happened To Lori, The Nine, Second Coming, and Close Your Eyes.

Joe also wrote the Stop A Murder mystery puzzle series, where you become the sleuth and solve brain teasers to try and catch a killer.

He also wrote the sci-fi trilogy, Timecaster, Timecaster Supersymmetry, and Timecaster Steampunk. Even if you don't think you like sci-fi, give them a try. They feature Joe's well-known characters from his other series, and are insane.

With Ann Voss Peterson he wrote the Codename: Chandler thrillers, including Flee, Spree, Three, Hit, Exposed, Naughty, Fix (with F. Paul Wilson), Rescue, and Free.

And, finally, he writes erotica under the pen name Melinda DuChamp, also with Ann Voss Peterson. Those books are probably too spicy for you, so only the brave and bold should seek them out.

Joe writes a lot. You should probably read everything.

Jack and His Female Counterpart

The three authors collaborate on a Kindle Worlds story where Repairman Jack crosses paths with the female assassin Chandler.

Each wrote their sections apart with a basic plot, then marrying the tale and coming together for the finish.

Jack meets his match in this tale as first they clash in the park, then run into each other at Abe's while picking up new weapons.

The third time is on a job where they come together to save the city from a terrorist incident.

Liked it.

I want MORE! Loved this novella. Two of my favorite characters in one story. Repairman Jack and Chandler fans should each love it. I would love to see another story involving this two characters. Maybe this time Jack could drop by Chicago and look Chandler up to work on a case together.

This story was short and sweet and hit all the right buttons (reference to the two main characters) for me. Even if you only know ONE of these characters, you will begin to like the other. For me, a fan of them both, this was good reading.

Thoroughly enjoyable

This is my first Repairman Jack novel, but I've read all the Codename: Chandler series. This was an enjoyable read and I liked the kinder, more intimate Chandler side that we saw in this story.

This was a very nicely done collaboration. Chandler is Jack's kind of girl. The story was great, and the dialogue got hilarious at times. More a novella than a novel, it won't take you long to read. The movie references were excellent. Enjoy!

Worth reading

Love repair man jack. This book did him justice. Chandler was an effective counterpoint to Jack's point. Worth the 3 hours of reading

Great quick read

I liked this because the story had a great pace, and it was an interesting original plot. Well-written and satisfying ending. Would read more in the series.

This could have made a great movie. I'm really enjoying these shorter "in universe" books.

No, Jack did not work for me.
And this is another story before Flee so a bit pointless. Adds nothing to Chandler.

Two years after Chandler blew up Plum Island someone actually survived & has a little bit of something. Chandler is tasked with finding and eliminating the threat and retrieving the package. Along the way she meets Jack (not Daniels as in previous adventures) Jack is a fixer and tangles with Chandler in an evenly fought bout and find they have a lot in common which leads to some nights of passion and play. Chandler won't let anyone stop her from completing her task though. Loads of action and humor.

This is a fun quick read for fans of both characters (Repairman Jack and Chandler). The problem with these kinds of prequel stories is the outcome is never in doubt, so it is hard to get any kind of real suspense going. Still, a great collaboration by three authors firing on all cylinders and just having fun with their creations. 4 stars.

This short story combines two strong characters in a mish-mash of deception and mis-direction. While they are busy trying not to work together, their distinct clients keep crossing their paths. There is some amusement, and several strong scenes.

I liked the first Chandler story, and this is motivation to get back into that series.

I miss Repairman Jack, and I'm quite happy to get the odd addition to the series, even if that involves arguably gimmicky crossovers. I haven't read Codename Chandler, but she seems like an character I wouldn't mind getting to know. All in all this story is a joy, certainly for RJ fans, and probably for Chandler fans too.
A highly enjoyable short thriller.

This fast-paced thriller delivers action, espionage, and high-stakes tension in a gritty urban setting. With a mix of covert operations, unexpected alliances, and a looming terrorist threat, the story keeps the momentum going. While the plot leans on familiar tropes, the blend of spycraft and street-level justice offers an entertaining ride for fans of action-packed suspense.

Most excellent!!

I love it when an author goes back and starts filling in the gaps in one of my favorite character's back story, and then to team up with Chandler is like manna from Heaven.

I'd love to see it happen again, but it probably wouldn't be the same.

Plus, I think Gia might not like Chandler 😊..
