And then there were three…

It’s been two years since Johnny Mayfield’s murder rocked Amber, Alabama. His death, along with the illicit personal scandals that preceded it, created more drama than the town had ever seen. But now life is back to normal, at least for his widow, Geneva. Or so it seems.

Happily remarried, Geneva has to admit her life is better than ever. Her upscale salon is thriving, and she finally has the baby she always wanted. But when she hires nanny Morgan Whitman, she discovers the deceptively matronly woman is stirring up drama, causing Geneva to question many things—including who really killed Johnny. Add local gossip columnist Shartell Brown and tell-it-like-it-is Donetta Pierce to the mix, and soon vicious rumors, terrifying threats, and long held secrets may add up to another shocking murder—one that will rival even Johnny Mayfield’s.

Even from the grave Johnny is still keeping up bull sh*t! Two years after his murder and folks are finally settling into a comfortable normal when Johnny starts talking from the grave! His killer is paranoid because information has darkened her doorstep leading her to believe that she didn’t cover her tracks like she thought. Secrets are at risk of being exposed and Johnny’s killer is willing to do whatever is necessary to protect her freedom as well as her family.

Geneva has finally put her traumatic past behind her and is the wife and mother she’s always dreamed of. When she begins having dreams that her ex husbands murderer isn’t the same person that’s currently behind bars she sets out to find out what really happened to him and who’s responsible.

This follow up wasn’t as messy as book one but it was still entertaining. I was shocked when the real killer was revealed because where did she come from 😩?!?!?! This was also my first transgender romance experience and it was very tastefully written. This series was my first introduction to this author and her books held my interest enough to where I’d give her catalog another try in the future!

Deadly Satisfation by Trice Hickman is one entertaining romance that readers will enjoy. There's plenty to keep readers hooked such as scandals, murder, local gossip and not to mention an ex-lover. Trice Hickman's novel is brilliantly well-developed, fast-paced, and full of suspense. There is a ot going on and readers will be left guessing as the pages are turned. Genva lost her husband and got remarried. She thought all will be well until trouble heads her way. With a business, a baby and threatening threats tossed around, Genvea is going to need all her energy to survive what she thought was once solved. I found this romance susprising and absolutely intriguing. The ending will be worth the reading. I highly recommend this read to readers everywhere.

Once again, Trice Hickman has pulled me into a series that I hate to see end! The second book in The Dangerous Love Series was every bit as delicious as the first. Geneva and Samuel have been living with their new daughter for the past 2 years, peacefully and happily. That is until news hits the town of Amber, Alabama that the person accused and imprisoned for murdering Geneva's late husband, Johnny, may in fact be innocent. This sends the main characters reeling - especially Geneva and Charlene, the prominent Councilwoman who actually committed the murder. In part two, we get a closer look at my favorite character, Donetta, a sophisticated, outspoken, and edgy transgender woman who has recently completed her male to female gender reassignment surgery. Both her struggles and victories with life, love, and happiness are highlighted. Ms. Hickman is very meticulous in her account of Donetta's transition and I was impressed with the level detail and accuracy she was able to provide while still keeping the plot moving at a consistent pace. As the story unfolds, we are introduced to new characters like sexy Phillip, emotionally damaged Lauren, and cunning Leslie and revisit original favorites. We find out how small Amber really is when these characters find themselves intertwined with one another over the Thanksgiving holiday (perfect, since I am reading this a week before turkey day!). This is a book that I couldn't put down until I finished the last page. The ending was a complete and shocking surprise, and I loved that I was unable to figure it out! One will not be disappointed by this wonderfully written novel full of colorful characters, surprising plot twists, and just the right amount of drama! I wouldn't be upset at all if there was a part three to this series. Or perhaps a spin-off for Donetta...that would be amazing! As an aside, I love how characters from her other novels randomly appear in her newer works! Great job and keep up the excellent work!

At the beginning of this book there should be directions similar to what's given before take off: "At this time, make sure your seat backs and tray tables are in their full upright position and that your seat belt is correctly fastened," because Deadly Satisfaction is one heck of a ride!!!

Everything about this book is perfect from the characters, the pace, and the action. It also includes a very unexpected romance that gives a new definition to loving a person for who they truly are. If you're looking to pass a few hours with books that will keep you gasping from the entertainment and drama then I highly recommend the first book in this series, Secret Indiscretions and the follow up, Deadly Satisfaction.

That darn Trice Hickman! She has done it again! This time she didn't wait until the end to leave my mouth wide open...it happened early on in the book. How early? Chapter 4 early! My oh my...Deadly Satisfaction picks up right where Secret Indiscretions left. Well not exactly where it left because it is two years later, but the drama is still around in little oh, Amber, Alabama. Again, Trice had me scratching me head and rubbing my eyes. Trice brought all her characters to life. Nothing more refreshing than to read a novel and each character has their on personality and more importantly, their own voice. None of them sounds alike. Great job Trice! I gave his book 4.5 stars.

Deadly Satisfaction is a highly entertaining dishy tell-all of secrets, passions, hopes, dreams, and the most necessary ingredient of betrayals to build emotional intensity into a lively story. It has been two years since Johnny Mayfield’s murder scandalized Amber, Alabama and with his murderer in jail the townspeople have moved on with their lives – enjoying well-won happiness. But as all prepares for a joyous Thanksgiving holiday, a breaking news story will dredge up nightmares. Over the next couple of days individuals will find their lives upturned in unexpected ways as the storyline builds into a nail-biting page turner.
Ms. Hickman, a tantalizing storyteller, has a gift for creating dynamic suspense, captivating characters, sharp dialogue, and sultry intimacy which sweeps readers into the story. I appreciated how the author sensitively wrote about the emotional and physically journey of Donetta, a trans woman.
Overall this is a stunning tale full of heartache and hope that is constantly suspenseful and satisfying read that will please both fans and new reader.

Trice Hickman has done her thing again!!!! She has penned a novel that grabs your attention immediately, holds it throughout the entire book, and then ends in a way that pleases you yet makes you want more of this great writing style.

After the entangled web of events that occurred in Secret Indiscretions, the citizens of Amber, Alabama find themselves trying to move toward the future while being assaulted by the past.
Each family has very interesting days ahead as they attempt to celebrate the holidays.

I recommend that you purchase your copy of Deadly Satisfaction to experience a page-turner that will have you hooked until the very end! Fantastic job Trice Hickman! I really, really enjoyed it! Five stars!!!!!

My thoughts:

Everything about this book is great from the characters and the storyline.
This book is such a page turner.
As I read this book and the first part ( Secret Indiscretions) I could picture the characters as if I was watching a Lifetime movie.
You don’t want to miss out on this series.

Secret Indiscretions by Trice Hickman 320 ebook pages
Dangerous Love #2

Genre: Contemporary Romance, African-American Fiction

Featuring: Fictional Suburb of Birmingham, Alabama; Profanity, Sex - detailed but not graphic, Murder Mystery, Transgender, MTF Surgery, Medical Content, Six Degrees Trope, Tons of Drama, Media, Abortion, Miscarriage, Thanksgiving, Can't Keep Your Story Straight, Absurdity

Rating as a movie: R for sexual content, violence, and language

My rating:⭐⭐½

My thoughts: 45% - Womp womp, this is getting on my nerves. It doesn't take this long to present evidence to a judge.

I prefer wonk wonk, but womp womp is supposedly the correct term. This book was a huge let down. I thought it was a 3 star but there was a huge plot hole. If you never met a man and only stalked him online for a week why would he have a sex tape with you? I try ignore inconsistencies when the story is good but this one was so huge and unnecessary, it completely ruined the 3 star I was thinking of. This book made my lady parts hurt. The drama was mediocre and over the top. I was going to read the catalog after the last book, but 75% into this one I sent a book back and decided not to read the Unexpected Love series. Too much drama and not enough substance in my opinion.

Recommend to others?: Not really. It was doing to much and not enough at the same time for me.

This book was a slight continuation from Secret Indiscretions. It mostly focuses on Donetta and Sharlene. Still a great read. There is a huge plot twist that will leave you wanting more. I for one want a continuation of Donetta's story and Lauren. And of course, Leslie's sister is not going to let matters rest.

This one made me uncomfortable i wish when it came to the subject of transgender the love interest is a willing participant who doesn’t have to jeopardize their morals, their comfort or their well-being to be with a person.

Part one of this book was excellent - I couldn't wait for part two. However, part two was a disappointment - couldn't finish the book. That Philip guy was getting on my nerves.

Great book throughout, but the ending felt rushed. And I was left confused about Johnny's shooter. Nevertheless I would still recommend this book.

I retrieved this novel from my local community’s leave one - take one book nook. I scanned the cover and noticed this book was a sequel, but I couldn’t wait and started reading. This was so well written, one needn’t read the previous novel to dive right in!

The storylines were well written, organized, and truly engaging. I have to go back and read Secret Indiscretions now, and I have no doubt I won’t be disappointed even though I’m reading the books out of sequence.

I was expecting Part 2 to be as good as Part 1 but it really wasn't. The things that I didn't like about this story was the ending and it also was way too repetitive. Donetta's storyline was my favorite thing about the book and I was happy to see that happen. The ending wasnt too shocking for me as well. I think Trice Hickman is a good writer and I'm gonna continue reading some of her work.

Too Deadly

That ending came out of nowhere. Those twists didn't make a lot of sense to me and it seemed like the only way the author could make a happy ending. I didn't need a happy ending, just something that made sense.
The Donetta/Phillip relationship didn't seem realistic to me. Not saying it couldn't happen, but for Phillip to be so accepting overnight felt like a stretch. I was captivated by all that a trans woman goes through to become one, so I learned a lot. I don't think it was crucial to the story though.
I'm reading this series consecutively six years after it was released so everything from part one was fresh. It was annoying to read all the recaps throughout part two of what had happened previously. I almost felt like I could have just read part 2 and been fine. I guess this will always be a problem since series books have become the thing now.

This is the first time I have read any books by this author and I was kind of surprised, only because in the beginning . I wasn't really liking the book or the way in which it was written. I found the beginning of it to be really boring and it did not hold my interest.
As I continued to read the book, my interest increased and I just didn't want to put the book down, especially due to the characters Johnny & Viviana. The more I read about these disgusting people and how these people affected the others around them, I was really intrigued and began to like the book even more, although I hated how everything played out until the wonderful ending that applied to Johnny & Viviana.
So far a great read!!!

She did it again. This book was great. In this book we return to amber, Alabama. In the beginning, of the book we lawyer Leslie sachs giving an interview statehouse client Vivian is not guilty of killing womanizer Johnny. Say what? The book picks up from there. We have Geneva and her new husband Samuel dealing with the shocking interview all the while hosting thanksgiving for their family. We also have charlene city councilman dealing with family drama plus a huge secret. Then we have Donetta who as a newly trans woman has found love or has she. And just when you think you figured out the book miss Hickman threw me for a loop. Five stars all around.

Somebody got a secret, and it's juicy. The continuation of Secret Indiscretions is a must read. Trice Hickman done did it again. I feel so sorry for Geneva, she is surviving from her ex husbands past discretions, remarried and has a child an then... Vivena finds a lawyer to hear her story about some loose ends not tied up. The day that turned alot of folks out. What bothers me the most is that you know you murdered someone and you continue to walk around in life like nothing happened. Must be insane.

Fast paced, riveting, suspensful and such a adventure but you are going to get that with Trice..

I received a copy of this book from the publisher for my honest review.

Deadly Satisfaction is about whirlwind of a book centered around the murder of Johnny Mayfield. This book had many plot twists and turns. Geneva and her husband, her bestfriend Donetta, Charlene, her children and several other supporting cast. There were so many unexpected surprises. It was a good read.
