Tired of dealing with the sexist, dominant men at her corporate job, Samantha Wilde started her own company. After hearing some life-altering news, she literally bumps into a man who knows what he wants regardless of her situation and is willing to pursue her no matter the costs.
Joshua Kelly is a successful business man. He has Samantha in his sights for not only business, but pleasure! He makes her a business proposition that she tries to refuse, then he moves in for the kill with a relationship proposal. She is almost helpless to stay away from him, because he represents the type of dominant man that she wants to avoid but his touch is addictive. Maybe this kind of dominant isn’t so bad.

This story is about the realities of sexual encounters and how to move on from what you cannot change. Based loosely on a many true stories.

This is my second book by this author and she definitely knows how to pull you into her story. I loved the fact that story was out of the box and about a subject that can be very taboo. When I discovered what the issue was I was wondering how the author was going to get a love story around this issue. I am happy to say that she managed it very well. I learned something about this issue that would not have known if I had not read this book.

The only this thing I did not enjoy about the book is that I think we can take this "I am a strong independent black women and I don't need your love or your support because I do it for myself attitude" a little too far. This is how I felt about Samantha. I thought that Joshua was a patient loving man who wanted to love Samantha and all she is concerned about is that he is taking her independence away from her.

I have been reading a few books just recently of strong women, which I love but I think a strong women should also be able to recognise when a man truly loves them and appreciate what is before them.

Although I like this author, I am finding it a little irritating that all her leading ladies have several men they can turn to who are interested in them if the going gets tough in their relationships, instead of working it out with their men. That detracts from the story for me a little. I am more interested in a couple working through their issues, why can't the women turn to a girlfriend if they need some advice why is it always another man who had designs on them!!!!

That aside a good read!

Would have been 4 stars but could not stand the female leading character. She was so immature, selfish, and unreasonable. She had several adult temper tantrums throughout the story that were off-putting. If you can ignore her, then it's a good read.

I can't say enough about Xyla Turner. I have read each of her books and have not been able to put them down once I started. I love the fact that she tackled STD awareness & coupled it with a romance so HOT that you wanted to be Samantha. Joshua was a man that knew what he wanted and stopped at nothing to get it. It was love at first sight for him and he made sure that he had her. Even thought he didn't see it, you could tell by the way Alura spoke and the nature of the things said that she was still in love with him. Samantha had the best friends and co-workers a person could ask for. They stood by her and told her when she was wrong instead of letting her have her way with things. I can't wait to read Trevor's story because we already know there's more to him then meets the eye. KUDOS, once again Xyla on a book well written!

Fantastic BWWM book

Enjoyed this story and the cast of characters. The hero is sexy as hell. Great way to educate readers on a disease that is taboo. This was a nice surprise.

boom!!!!

At first I thought the storyline of STD was going to turn me off...I almost returned the book...but a few words later...I was hooked...the story is a different look at a love story that begins with a huge bombshell...and right of the bat...the alpha male took over...Joshua did not give Samantha a easy way out....she tried..Lord knows she tried...she started getting on my last nerves with her excuses...but Joshua was relentless.....no stds,or overly independent, stubborn or scared woman was going to deter him from having her....the hot sex in this book is not for the faint of heart...he's

I was frustrated and annoyed with Samantha. She wanted a relationship, had a few men approach her and every single time, she ran. 🤦🏾‍♀️🙄

Her attitude was a turn off. I understand about her fear but it seemed to be drowned out by her childish attitude. I felt the author forgot all about her “situation” and focused on her cowardice.

WOW

I really didn't know how someone having a STD was going to work in a romance novel, but it did.....It was very realistic!!! I can't wait for Trevor's story!!!

This might have been better if the heroine didn't act so immaturely, she can throw unreasonable tantrums like no other. I loved that even though the book is about someone living with an incurable STD, this did not become the main focus of the story. I also like that I learned one or two things that I didn't know about this disease. And though STD is one of the most least sexy things, the author managed to deliver a romance novel that is still steamy.

I really loved the way the hero handled some of the heroine's tantrums, even though to some extend he sounded unrealistic and some other times sounded Christian Grey like.

I really enjoyed the banter but the heroine was so unlikable and kinda immature,
the hero carried the book , he was such an alpha and sweet .

Xyla has done it again with Bombshell. I liked the fact that the author stepped outside the box to discuss an issue that many people deal with in real life. Personally, I like books that I can relate to real life even though it is fiction. For me, it makes the book more believable and more realistic. For some individuals, the realistic aspect is not a preference, especially in a romance/IR novel. I also liked how the heroine in the book's description. It showed how not all black women are of one skin complexion, and some black women do resemble other nationalities. Personally, I do not feel it takes away from the book being BWWM genre or fact that she is still a black woman. Realistically, this is another issue that black women deal with daily. For some people, women who light-skinned or appear to be of a different race are not black enough. However, for me in the end, whether you are light, brown, or dark-skinned you are still black and beautiful.

Joshua: I love the name Joshua. Besides the biblical reason, I feel when you say the name Joshua you get a sense of a person who is strong, dominant, has a leadership type mentality. All of these things describe him, the real Alpha male in this book. I don’t know about anyone else, but I wouldn’t mind finding me a Joshua in real life. Love despite flaws and insecurities is rare and hard to find but once you do you hold on to it.

Samantha: One of the meanings of the name Samantha is the listener. I think that was the one thing that irked me about her at times she did the complete opposite and didn’t listen. This is another realistic aspect within this book. Many women and people, in general, have been so hurt by other people when someone tells them that they only want them, and other issues don’t matter they don’t listen or believe them. However, when you don’t believe it yourself and think happiness will never be yours, you become stubborn and ignore rather than listening to the signs that you can have it all. I am happy that she finally recognized just because your life is not perfect per se does not mean someone will not love, cherish and want you, just the way you are.

I will not give away too much of the story itself as this is a book that you should read. If you are looking for a book that takes you on the journey of dealing with real issues in life and learning some life lessons in the process this is the book for you. Anxiously waiting for what is next to come from the exquisite and visionary mind of Author Xyla Turner.

Wow!!

Oh my!! I don't know how to describe this book except: amazing!! A definite page turner,... You can't help it but fall in love with the characters.
Joshua is the very epitome of ALPHA MALE, and my ,did he find hid perfect match in the "nobody-controlled-me-I-am-my-own-woman", extremely beautiful ,independent, self accomplished... But together, well read it and find out. Here is a taste:

This man sang to me, I just came, so I was more than a bit emotional. I looked down at him near my thong and mouthed, “I love you.” He saw what I did and his eyes burned into mine as he ripped my thong off with his teeth. That was hot as shit. Joshua suddenly stood up, ripped off his shirt and tore off his pants and briefs. I put my finger in my mouth and started to suck on it. He moaned as he lowered his body to me and replaced my fingers with his lips. He kissed me hard and deep. I moaned on his lips. Joshua pulled away from me and said, “Mama, let me make love to you.”
Enjoy!!!

i initially read this book to fulfill a 2016 reading challenge. i had no clue how xyla turner could interweave a std into a storyline yet make it hot and sexy. well i'm so glad for the challenge (thank you a to z of IRR) and xyla being extremely talented. this was really well done as others have reviewed and i have to agree. i would give 4.5 if i could. the only issue i have is there were some things that were introduced in the relationship between samantha and joshua that i wanted to hear more of. hopefully in the story of trevor my curiosity is filled and i give the full 5 stars. but i don't think you will be disappointed when you pick up this story. it's a page turner with a hot stubborn alpha and a an equally gorgeous stubborn submissive.

When alphas collide...

When alphas collide, there's no telling what the outcome will be. Joshua and Samantha literally bump into each other twice over a year apart. There's attraction and chemistry, but only Joshua wanted to pursue anything. Being the alphas that he is, Joshua found a way to get into her life and career and space. Sam wasn't half stepping and made her intentions and standards known. Half truths, miscommunication, and a lot of misunderstanding wreck havoc on the couple as well as life endangerment. I enjoyed reading about them and to see how the couple developed throughout the book.

I commend Xyla Turner for breaching such a sensitive subject

It's not easy to read about anyone contracting a disease, especially not a sexually transmitted disease and writing about it in a love story is very brave and realistic.
The characters were well developed and the main character Samantha was no pushover, very smart business owner of colour, the fact that she had contracted the STD made her seem more real, that this could happen to anyone. Joshua was such an alpha but likable and sexy.
I enjoyed the story as I always love reading Ms Turner's characters and lol forward to reading more of her books!

This was a decent story, but man, the heroine, Samantha got on my last nerve. She's the reason why I give it 3 stars instead of my usual 4 and above stars I give for Xyla Turner's books cuz they are so damn good! Samantha is selfish and unreasonable and I got to a point where I was like, Joshua could do so much better. He was kind, understanding and loving the whole time and she kept pushing him away because of her need to be able to prove she is a badass career woman. Even after he accepted her STD situation with such care, she still had a bunch of tantrums and kept running from him. It was exhausting. I still liked the book, but man, poor Joshua lol

She know feels that no man would want her once she discloses that she has this STD but by chance meeting in walks Joshua Kelly. He is a man that does not take no for an answer and he is on the hunt for Samantha at all costs. This is a story of fate and attraction. This is a must read you will not be disappointed! The scenes is this book is so hot that you may need the fire department to hose you down!!

Wow!

This was my first read by this author but it certainly won't be my last! I was not expecting one of the main characters to have an STD. However, Ms. Turner didn't make that the main issue of this couple not getting together. Their very strong personalities and a crazy ex almost did them in. However, Ms. Turner worked that out splendidly. I loved that Joshua knew who and what he wanted and was not afraid to show Samantha. The chemistry was off the charts and the sex scenes were sizzling. I would highly recommend this book and can see myself re-reading in the future.

Great read

Never had I wanted to strangle the heroine as much as I did Samantha. Good lord was she too headstrong! Thank goodness she had Roslyn, Trevor and Elliot to keep her tail grounded. Even better was the fact that she had an domineering, alpha man that knew when to check her tail and when to give her a little wiggle room. I will love to know Trevor's story. I want to also state that I've never read a book where the heroine has a STI and actually found love. Great angle and a great way for people to live, love without limits

I loved this book. Samantha Wilde is an independent woman who has a vision for her life. She also has found out she has a personal issue she feels will prohibit her from achieving all she wants. An accidental "bump" leads her right into the arms of Joshua Kelly. An Alpha of the 1st order who has and gets whatever he wants. Samantha hands him the challenge of a lifetime.
Come along and read their journey and see how this Alpha has met his match in Samantha...Great read...

Bombshell indeed

I've never read a book on this topic before. It was an eye opener to read about the heartache and self punishment of people who suffer from Herpes Simplex. One can still live a full life and have an HEA. Joshua saw what he wanted and did not let anything or anyone stand in the way. Sam on the other hand was just too afraid of following her heart for fear of rejection. I'm glad both found their HEA with each other

You never know...

I enjoyed this read & I didn't want to stop until it was done. Xyla did a great job dealing with a sensitive subject & I actually learned some things reading it. Samantha thought she was unlovable, but Joshua proved her wrong. Joshua was a dominant alpha male & that coupled with Samantha's dominant personality sparked some fireworks.

Started out interesting and I immediately liked the hero. It went downhill from there. The heroine was so annoying with her “strength” and “sass” and the hot and cold she emoted to a man who genuinely liked her. DNF

Mixed Feelings

This is one of those books that I liked and hated at the same time. I loved Josh. I loved how he knew he wanted her from the first time he was her and he pursued her until he got her. He didn't beat around the bush he said what he wanted and meant it. There's no wondering or questioning what he wanted, loved that about him. Samantha on the other hand was a wrecking ball. I started out liking her a lot, but then she got annoying really fast. Everything was an argument with this chick. I understand being a strong independent woman, you don't have to make everything an issue. Him coming to pick her up from the airport was an argument, him calling her out about making the smallest thing a huge issue was an argument, everything! I hated her character so much by the end of this book, I almost have it a 1 star, but I loved Josh. The bombshell in this book was truly unexpected. I was so caught off guard, but happy that she explored this issue since it is something that is on the rise in the US. I also liked her friends Elliot and I forgot the name of the female friend.

I'm new to Xyla's books. I think this is the 3rd or 4th book in a row that I've read of hers. Not sure how I've not heard of her until now, but she is fantastic! I love her writing style and how she takes the time to develop her characters. She's well on her way to becoming one of my favorites. I'd highly recommend any of her books to everyone.

A Very Different Story Indeed!

Great story that touches on STDs, acceptances and disillusions. Funny, but not funny, how one is afraid of something due to lack of knowledge. When Samantha thought all was lost because she felt that she was a “diseased person” love came in, but she was not ready and ran away only for it to find her a year later, when she still was not ready but at the persistence of Joshua, he made her see the light. Oh My Goodness, Joshua was too bold to put his hands on Samantha’s face on their very first and second encounters. He soo could have gotten assaulted, not sure why she did not at the time, but she sure did later during a later encounter where he pissed her off. I loved Elliot’s character, he was a very loving a supportive friend despite his crush on her that he knew that was never be requited in a romantic way nor did he admit it to her until she asked him directly. Then there is the mysterious Trevor, he came across suspicious to me the very first time he approached Samantha. I thought that he was cool after the first awkward encounter with Samantha when they met in the hallway of their apartment to pick up their delivery orders, then I did not like him again when he was caught arguing with Joshua and learned that he had other motives going on with his friendship with Samantha, but then liked him again after she was assaulted by Joshua’s lunatic ex, he seemed to have their back. I wonder if he has his own story, hmm?
