Another angsty, emotional, and heartbreaking omegaverse from this author! This one is the opposite from the first two books, where the heroine finds her scent matches, but they already have an omega and don't want her to ruin their pack dynamic. They agree to take her in and help her find a new pack, but their current omega is not welcoming at all to her. This one heavily focuses on the intimate relationship between the heroine and another character, and I wasn't sure if I really liked that character or felt anything beyond the physical connection between the two. But that just added to the complexity of the heroine's situation as she's falling for her scent matches and desperately wants to stay with them, but they are sworn to protect their current omega and cannot touch her. Tensions are so high in this book and that ending!? This series creates such heartbreaking situations with flawed characters and I am dying to see how this ends for our heroine!

Stray Omega is the third instalment in the Tormented Omega series by Mary Magdalyn.
Oh boy, here we go. I have so many thoughts about this book, and I'm not sure whether I can articulate all of them in a way that will make sense.
I was fully invested in this, and it brought up a lot of the same feelings I had when reading Tormented Omega, up until around 70% in and I was completely lost. The angst and the emotional turmoil was so rich and heavy, and the plot just derails itself as soon as Miles conveniently no longer sees Lily as a threat. Mind you, the first time we meet Miles he physically and verbally attacks Lily, and unfortunately I knew I would never like him and that feeling hasn't changed upon finishing the book.
Lily is a doormat and I wish she would have followed through when she ran away and wasn't so forgiving. Miles is awful and he gets no sympathy from me. Gabriel is a loser and I wish him the worst. Garrett and Cyrus are just... there. Jeremy and his pack are cowards. Brennan is insane and the sooner he is dealt with the better. Am I missing anyone?
I don't want Lily to end up with the Santos pack, and I don't really care if she's their scent match. I don't want Lily to end up with Jeremy and his pack. I certainly don't want Lily staying with Brennan and his pack. I don't really know what I want for Lily at this point, and I don't think any amount of grovelling with be able to change my mind in the second book.
I will read the second book when it eventually comes out because I'm intrigued to see how this story ends, but based on my disappointment in Claimed Omega, I don't have high hopes.

I disliked this book intensely compared to the first two in the series. It was completely off-putting having the main male characters being the abusers, not sure how anyone could find men who were intentionally cruel and abusive attractive. I'm okay with dark or bully tropes but there's a way to write them that doesn't turn you completely against the male characters. This book did not achieve that.
The male omega and pack leader were detestable, there was a constant cycle of tearing her apart with viscous insults then feeling bad enough to give a backhanded apology, only to be even worse the next time. They drew her in, gave her hope, then utterly crushed and rejected her multiple times.
All completely excusable behaviour in their minds because the male omega had been abused by a former pack, the irony and hypocrisy of their own behaviour was brushed off. The male omega got off on demeaning and controlling her and was physically abusive more than once.
The two of the pack that didn't abuse her did nothing to stop it, their characters were written as very shallow stereotypes of golden retriever and strong silent type. All this while trying to portray the pack as kind and protective men.
The author is great at writing angst which made me keep with it but I should have finished at the 60% mark where I had lost any desire to see her stay with them, this book was terrible compared to the first two.

Honestly, most of the attention was on the male omega. This is a frequent thing I noticed which is annoying tf outta me. If you are gonna write an omegaverse book which has a male omega, just keep it as that. Do not include a female character just for her to be some sort of side character. FMC is a complete doormat. The entire pack does not deserve her. I hope in the 2nd book has a lot of grovelling ( but I have a feeling it won’t). The whole pack is just irredeemable.

I’m so obsessed with this author’s writing and have devoured 3 books from her in the last few days. Like obsessed as in staying up all night finishing each book and couldn’t get enough of! If you want emotional, angsty omegaverse…this author does that so well!

So things are getting desperate and her life is literally hanging by a thread for her to find a pack. She ends up finally finding her scent match, and then he rejects her because he’s already made promises to an omega in his pack. Ahhhhh the hurt, the trauma, I couldn’t put this book down because I had to know what was going to happen next for Lily. Tensions are soooo high when she ends up moving into their home and the dynamic in the house is rough to read, but also had me so hooked. And the ending?! Excuse meeeee I need the next book asap cause what is even going to happen next?!

Maybe I should have waited to write this review because I am NOT okay. My feelings are hurt and it's all Mary's fault. So here we are.
This book... This f*cking book has destroyed me.
There is something about the way that Mary writes that makes you feel everything Lily (FMC) is going through. I’m not speaking figuratively when I say I cried non-stop for hours reading this while feeling like my chest was caving in.
For the record: NOBODY in this book is good enough for Lily, she deserves so much more than the sh!t she was put through.
This was messy, devastating, and I'm not going to be okay until I read the next book.

I received an ARC copy of this book so I’ve had a chance to sit on my feelings for a while and contemplate things.
I think this was interesting and needed for the universe. I’d love for the author to expand a little more on how this world works as a whole. I get that that isn’t why we’re “here” exactly like most people don’t come to OV for extensive world building - but also these books aren’t what I would consider to be spice heavy so if you enjoy them you likely enjoy them for the emotional content. Some of this would make a little more sense to me if I could understand more fully the context of the world these omegas live in. Is there ever a scenario where they could hold their own rights as adults? Why are they treated like children?
This revealed to me in some ways the bias of readers. In Vees book we would’ve loved this one track devotion to their chosen omega but because we knew lily first and care about her it does immediately feel different. You learn very early on that she is also ill and needs contact from alphas in general but especially from her scent matched alphas would be particularly beneficial. Completely denying her this is gross. I understand and do respect their (mostly honestly Gabriel’s) devotion to Miles, but these adults allowing this very traumatized man version of a junk yard dog to call quite literally all the shots is… a choice 🤣 he honestly could have taken a little bit of a page out of Ragons book if this is the f*cked up world they live in.
I love this series because I love angst and relationship dynamics. I kind of missed the single person POV and having the rest of peoples mindset be a mystery. This isn’t a series to pick up if you’re wanting copious spice or a battle strong FMC. But if you love psychology and anthropology and have ever asked yourself “why my god, why did she stay? Why didn’t she just LEAVE?!” Then you should pick up Mary’s books. Because the answer is: it’s never that easy. Whether it’s in this fictional world or our very real world, there are systems in place that make it very difficult for women to walk away without fearing for their lives or their safety for themselves or people they care about. It’s not always simple. And love muddies the waters and makes you hope for an ending that isn’t always possible. The dynamic between miles and lily becomes so toxic and twisted and heartbreaking.
This has a very different vibe and feel from tormented omega but that’s a good thing. Everyone’s story is different. Vee was in a toxic relationship for years but didn’t know it. Lilys story is different and the tone and shape of this story reflects that. This story is less of an emotional gut punch but still impactful.
At the end of tormented omega I knew without a shadow of a doubt what I wanted to happen. This one is harder. May the grovel commence!

Tl:dr; Everybody here sucks. These people are the worst including the FMC for being such an absolute door mat. You’re a disappointment to women.
For a general sort of overview to my review. The book was good, not nearly as good as the start to her other duology in the series but still a very strong start. There are touches of lots of other incredible OV series in here, a bit of Pack Darling, a bit of tortured omega, a bit of some others. If the second book holds up (which if you read claimed omega you know isn’t a guarantee) this will be one of the gold standards in the RH genre as a whole.
Now for the nitty and the gritty. I don’t know of I could force myself to be okay with any HEA this author and her robot friend come up with. All these men suck and are terrible. Starting at the top. The Alpha pack lead is a wet sock, reads so much like the pack lead from the first book, for a leader he does no leading, just following and being an absolute shit. The OM Miles is “broken” but by broken I mean mean, cruel, unmanaged. His trauma is the answer to everything and everything just gets excused because oh he’s my omega. Instead he just seems to delight in crushing the FMC for no real reason? In fact after about the 40% mark nobody has any reason to keep torturing themselves and others. The other two pack are bland a barely actual characters. The FMC is an absolute door mat. Supposedly she has a mom who loves her, a support system that she just never uses??? Instead she just rolls over like she loves it when people treat her like dirt.
Now to the real elephant in the room; I am loathe to accuse any one of utilizing AI (but there are too many clues to ignore.) The AI is better hidden here, but if you get even an inkling it’s there it’s pretty hard to ignore, characters essentially reset after every few chapters, we end up walking the same roads and having the same internal monologues over and over. It’s not as obvious as book two likely because the author took a ton of heat for it last time but it does take away from the reading experience.
Overall it was worth the time to read and while I have a lot of feelings over this book I will almost certainly read number 4 and be happy about it. Take that as you will.

Will I read the next one? Yes. But this was so disappointing. I really enjoyed the first part of Tormented Omega, and I was really looking forward to this duet. But soooo many things just didn’t fit for me, and I don’t think there’s any groveling that can make me change my mind about the guys trying to get her back. Continually choosing someone else over her - idk if they’ll be able to come back from that. The only reason she is now with Brennan is because for the hundredth time they chose their omega over her. And going so far as to cause her so much physical agony, and to not have any doctors step in like they did in Tormented - pissed me off. ALSO, how tf are all these “upstanding packs” so evil? Like, they run a charity for orphans and everyone’s all “oh you don’t know, they’re good guys!” Meanwhile the lead alpha calls her attention seeking because of her migraines that HE IS CAUSING.

Amazing … until about 70% in
The beginning was so good, and this FMC Lily goes through a lot of tough-ish situations.
But … Lily is a TSTL doormat. Her scent-matched alpha pack lead Gabriel (who imprinted on her at first scent/look) keeps being needlessly cruel, and their “chosen” Omega Miles orders her around like a servant, and she just takes it. It was brutal in the best way until about 70% in, and then was jumbled to the end. It was really pathetic how Lily just kept forgiving all the bad behavior (of everyone in the pack) of her scent-matched alphas putting another (unclaimed) omega ahead of her.
Brennan, the villain, has been repressing her chances at a mate for 6 years but was supposedly her scent match, but then he took another mate who died, and Santos Pack (Gabriel, Garret, Cyrus) are her second-chance mates? It was a bit of a mishmash of plot points thrown together at the end there. Jeremy (who she was dating) was so good, but then became a coward after being blackmailed by Brennan? Lily ends up with Brennan and his pack because she did not take the time to read what she was signing. Sigh. Lily is TSTL, but she was written as painfully naive, sheltered, and does not even have a phone (what?!?!), so that tracks. I really ended up disliking Gabriel by the end (ridiculous alpha pack lead), and even Garrett and Cyrus for not ever saying anything at all to stop things.
I will, of course, keep reading these by MM, bec the beginnings seem to be good. This one just did not resonate with me the way Tormented Omega did as a Book 1 (that is an excellent debut OV novel). This one is a bit of a fizzle for me, similar to Claimed Omega. Glad these are only two book series, so I will read Book 2.

This didn’t hit as well as the first book did. The Santos pack doesn’t deserve Lily and frankly, neither do the other packs. Jeremy’s a coward and Brennan needs psychological help or something.

Hate the Male Omega he seriously sucks and no amount of trauma or insecurity allows him to treat the female omega. He controls everything, which fine is ok with alphas - but it’s disgusting how he gets complete autonomy over what happens with her. She literally has no power there. Even if they accept her to the pack, at least not with the current dynamics. The alphas need permissions to do anything with her, including checking on wounds, which were a result of HIS ATTACK.
He wants her gone, then when she tries he gets angry and punishes her.
The alphas claim their first priority is the MO, but then acknowledge the importance of her and still let her be treated like cr@p.
Honestly, they should have let her go, they were willing to let her die to make their MO feel better. The doctors literally tell them this and they reply, “we can’t upset MO please lie about what’s going on with your body and the simplest way to fix it is by literally touching you”. Even if it looks cruel in the beginning, it would have been best for her because they are nightmare.
Also annoyed with how the FO just does whatever the MO wants and allows him to punish her, but I guess that’s her trauma.
Lastly it’s ironic how they say that they’re doing all this to protect the MO from all the trauma he faced with his previous scent matched pack. While simultaneously, all 4 do those very same things to her.

oh yay
So we have a dying omega, let’s give her to an abusive pack. Then let’s throw her away, then change your mind, then abuse her more, and throw her away again. In the words of a husband who does reviews on the books his wife reads “That’s not romance. That’s a felony”. I’m sickened that the author is going to twist this mess for a poor girl who is the epitome of TSTL and a doormat into thinking these morons are worth it. She deserves better than what the author is doing. She’s basically saying “who cares that you’re physically and mentally abused, they’re your scent matches and your stuck with them for a future of more abuse.” So now we have an author who not only writes about violence against women, she then makes them want it.
For me to read the next book, Miles needs to die or leave. And Lily should be able to reject these wastes of space for a better pack. I wanted to DNF for the whole book, but I kept waiting for a smidge of redeeming qualities in this group. I probably won’t read this author again and I just decided that I definitely won’t be reading the next book. The more I think of this book, the more disgusted I get.

I’m sickened that the author is going to twist this mess for a poor girl who is the epitome of TSTL and a doormat into thinking these morons are worth it. She deserves better than what the author is doing. She’s basically saying “who cares that you’re physically and mentally abused, they’re your scent matches and your stuck with them for a future of more abuse.” So now we have an author who not only writes about violence against women, she then makes them want it.
For me to read the next book, Miles needs to die or leave. And Lily should be able to reject these wastes of space for a better pack. I wanted to DNF for the whole book, but I kept waiting for a smidge of redeeming qualities in this group. I probably won’t read this author again and I just decided that I definitely won’t be reading the next book. The more I think of this book, the more disgusted I get.

Honestly, I really hope Lily ends up with a completely different pack in book two.
Miles sucks, Gabriel sucks, Garret and Cyrus are basically decorative lawn ornaments, Jeremy's pack are spineless trust fund turds who can eat sht, and obviously Brennan and his pack need to be put down.
At the end of the day, I couldn't care less about Mile's 11th hour "Come to Jesus" moment. Why isn't this asshole in therapy? The past trauma defense only goes so far and then you're just a toxic POS.
The writing itself was ok. It felt incredibly stilted as it got further in - very short sentences that became difficult to read without skipping through, the tedious and robotic cadence lacking a more organic flow. A lot of really similar descriptors, a lot of repetition of interactions and sentiments.
Will I read the next one? Yeah. Will I enjoy it? Probably not - especially if our little doormat of an fmc ends up with the Santos pack, because eff those abusive knobs. It’s been awhile since I read a book where the characters pissed me off so much. The FMC Lilly deserves a hug, a cigarette and a GD break. I get a migraine and I’m done. Can you imagine having a migraine so bad you’re physically ill and having to deal with someone like Miles with this pain? No ma’am.

This book was an absolute chefskiss for me! All the stars. I finished it last night and I was not able to stop reading. So so good.
Lily needs to be loved and protected at all costs, and so does Miles. I don’t blame him anything, it’s not his fault. He’s just a traumatized baby.
That cliffhanger is gonna stay with me for a while. I need the next book asap 👀

Well, this was depressing as hell. Even if there's a happy ending with this pack in the next book, I'll probably still feel sick to my stomach over it. Screw this pack. All the packs. This is my fault tbh.
I had absolutely no business reading the third book in this series after hating the first two. At this point, I wasn’t even giving it another chance; I was staying for the morbid curiosity of watching a train wreck.
I want to preface two things. The first is that I did not review the first two books. However, a lot of my criticisms of this book do extend to the first two. And the second is that this review will be long but also comprehensive. Originally, I was not going to leave a review, but I walked away frustrated enough that I feel the need to leave my opinion on it.

I did walk into the book a little blindly because I had completely forgotten I had read the first two books in the series, and upon reading the description on KU, it is technically a standalone story disconnected from the characters in the first two books, so I was not able to put two and two together. I also did not read any reviews on it since oftentimes I’ve passed on reading potentially good books because of the reviews, so I did not actually know what people were saying about it until midway through the book when I decided to look.
I am not trying to be mean, but I will be blunt. I was incredibly surprised at the reviews for the book. Even the reviews rating the plot line poorly praised the writing.
I genuinely cannot put this any other way. In my opinion, it was all bad. The actual technical writing, the plot, the characters.
I cannot prove AI was used, nor do I really care (I know, I know - tomato, tomato, tomato). But my AI sensors were blaring throughout this entire book.
As it stands, AI’s writing capabilities for books as a whole are very poor, and its memory is limited. And this creates certain patterns that I noticed in abundance throughout this book. But like I said, I don’t know for certain. Perhaps the author truly does write like this.
So regardless of whether or not it was AI or human writing, the result was the same: poor writing.
To be more specific, the prose constantly swings between these overly descriptive, superficially deep passages and the flattest, most staccato dialogue imaginable.
The pseudo-poetic prose is definitely a style that can be used very successfully. However, in this book, it was used so often and during moments that didn’t really seem to fit that tone that it lost all effectiveness. It really is a context issue as well, because if I pasted these chunks here as examples, they wouldn’t seem wrong and, in fact, might even seem good. However, when in the context of the entire chapter and whichever situation is going on, you can really see through the holes.
These issues, if not an AI issue, definitely feel like they stem from a template issue. This is especially obvious at the ends of chapters. Once you notice it, you cannot stop noticing it. I mean, I literally screenshotted the ends of different chapters throughout the book, and it’s the same thing over and over:
“But tonight, I can just be sad. Tonight I can grieve for the pack that was supposed to save me. Tonight I can be broken. I cry until I’m empty. Finally, I sleep.”
“But for the first time in my life, I’m home.
Nobody’s said it out loud yet, but my body knows.
I’m home.”
“Nobody says it out loud. But I think we all feel it. This works.
Maybe that’s what scares me.”
“Maybe. One day. But not today.
Today I am the stray.
And nobody wants a stray.”
Every chapter is trying to end on this devastating, profound emotional note, except they all use the exact same cadence and “template.” So it stops feeling actually meaningful and impactful and turns very cookie-cutter.
Next, there’s the dialogue. Again, it’s all to do with these repetitive “patterns.” Take the conversations between the Carr pack and Lily; every single group conversation follows the same format.
One person says something.
Another person denies it.
A third person corrects them.
A fourth person adds one more joke.
Everyone laughs.
Someone says something “deep.”
Scene over.
I mean it when I say that is literally every conversation Jeremy’s pack has. Every single one.
“‘He’s going to set it on fire,’ Michael says to me.
‘I’m not going to set it on fire,’ Leo shoots back.
‘He always sets them on fire.’
‘I burned it once—’
‘Twice,’ Theo says.
‘Okay, twice, but—’
‘Three times,’ Jeremy adds.
Leo points the spatula at him. ‘You’re all going to eat these amazing melted chocolate S’mores and apologize to me.’
I laugh from deep in my chest.
All of them look at me when I do, and their faces just… soften, like they were waiting for it.
‘There she is,’ Jeremy says, quiet, just for me.”
I meaaann… like, it cannot be just me. Don’t get me wrong, this quippy format can definitely work from time to time, but it’s all the time in this book, and it obviously has a direct effect on character development and, as such, the storyline.
And unfortunately for me, the actual story was somehow worse.
The entire plot is:
Lily is sad.
Crisis.
Abuse.
Lily is getting smaller.
Crisis.
Abuse.
Lily is sad tm.
Lily has a headache.
Abuse.
Lily cries alone in her room.
Rinse and repeat.
That is the entire book.
And let us not forget this is only book one of Lily’s story (aka book three within the series), which genuinely made me want to slap past me for ever continuing through the first book of the series.
The FMC is in an abusive, toxic relationship with a pack that repeatedly makes it clear they do not want her, and she stays for some ungodly reason even when better opportunities are practically presented to her.
And no, I do not mean Brennan’s cartoon evil pack. I mean Jeremy’s pack.
They offer her stability, kindness, respect, actual care, and basic human fucking decency.
Meanwhile, the pack she chooses to stay with is actively killing her.
They do not want her. They tell her they do not want her. They treat her like they do not want her. She is legitimately deteriorating in front of them.
And she still stays!
At a certain point, I stopped feeling sorry for her. Not because traumatized people always make logical choices. Obviously, they don’t. But because the book does not actually explore that in any meaningful way. It just keeps forcing her back into the same situation so more suffering can be manufactured.
This is not a nuanced story about being biologically drawn to people you cannot socially or emotionally be with. Or even a nuanced story of abusive and toxic relationships.
This is a story of the most elaborate situationship known to man.
She is being used, rejected, emotionally and even physically abused, and the narrative keeps presenting that as romance adjacent tension.
Don’t even get me started on the “but she wants to be dominated, which is why she can’t go to the ‘soft Carr pack’” argument.
You can be in a power-exchange relationship and still be respected and cared for.
You can want control, pain, submission, dominance, rules, structure, whatever, and still have a partner who treats you like a human being.
What is happening with Miles is not healthy power exchange. It is not some profound meeting of needs. It is plain old abuse dressed up in a kink costume. And the whole thing is honestly an insult.
And implying that Lily cannot be with the respectful pack because she, too, is “damaged” and needs someone harsher is so deeply ignorant.
She could literally go to Jeremy’s pack and say, “Hey, I’m interested in power exchange and I need that in a relationship,” and given that this is an omegaverse book, I promise you at least one of those men would happily oblige without treating her like literal garbage or clawing her face off.
The romance also completely fails because these people are so clearly incompatible.
I did not want them to work things out. I wanted them separated. I wanted Miles in intensive therapy. I wanted Lily somewhere safe. I wanted Gabriel to stop enabling and disabling everything. I wanted the registry to have a clan of therapists on speed dial because none of this would be happening if even one person in this city had access to professional help.
Miles clearly cannot handle Lily being there unless he is belittling her and controlling every part of her. That is not romance. Period. That is toxic codependency, severe trauma, and abuse.
And the ending? No words.
After rejecting the only genuinely decent option available to her (under pretences of a happily ever after with the Santos pack), Lily gets kicked out and then dragged back into the Brennan nonsense anyway. So after an entire book of going in circles, we end exactly where we started.
And before anyone says this is showing the cyclical nature of abuse: no. There is absolutely a way to write that story. This book is not doing that. It is using repeated abuse as a substitute and the backbone of the plot.
The lore is also inconsistent as hell.
At the beginning of the book, Miles claims he can feel how much the others want Lily through the bond when he is not even bonded. Then Jeremy says the Brennan pack was Lily’s scent match first after we have been told repeatedly that scent matches are incredibly rare and you only get one. Then the book tries to patch it with “second-chance scent matches.” In the same fictional city? Bffr Jeremy.
Ultimately, this book was just a deeply frustrating and disappointing read. The writing was hard to get through, the plot never actually developed , and the characters made choices that became increasingly impossible to care about.
And honestly, like I said part of this is on me. I had already read the first two books and I did not like this series. That being said, I do think the first two books at least had slightly more to stand on. Their central relationship had more of an actual foundation, and the FMC had stronger ties to the situation she was trapped in. Here, Lily has almost no meaningful connection to these people beyond the scent match, is repeatedly offered a better option, and still chooses to remain in a situation that is actively killing her.

August 7, 2026OH MY GOODNESS THIS IS SO HORRIBLE 😭 it was the messiest omegaverse i ever read! But i just can’t stop reading! 🫠 that is such a legit great writing of a tragedy story😢at this point i don’t even know if i hate it or love it due to the horrible emotion it manage to bring out of me…. Which makes it really hard to rate. Mary just have a wonderful talent of writing a very sad and tragic omegaverse story 😭
Honestly when I realized this is out, I quickly pick it up thinking it is a continues from the previous book because we were left with a freaking cliffhanger and i am desperate for the next book to be out. But i was left quite confused when i realized all the names are different…. Then i check again… and i realize it is a new book centering a new pack/character but in the same series 🤯 —— kinda pissed at first because here i am hoping for the next book but we get a new pack ????? I mean can we finish the first pack first before dive into a new one 🫠
But oh well i continue on reading not knowing anything —— and BOOM! I get hit with another heartbreaking read with a horrible Alpha treating the FMC 💔 but my review for the first book in the series hit me legit in the face —— i did mention if the role is reversed in the first book, we would have pitying the other omega too ….. and the author slap me with this book which is the role reverse plot that i just mentioned 🙂↔️ i feel exposed with pain 😭😭 Now we are sad for a whole new reason🫠🫠 Not forgetting that we again left with a freaking cliffhanger…. At this point i think the author is testing my sanity with her story and cliffhanger 😶
Now focusing review about the story…. I don’t even know how to write about it, it was just so unexpected and very very messy. My heart legit went out for Lily fate in this book…. I keep on wishing to see her grow a backbone to just walk out from the pack… The way they treat her is horrible, all the words and action she have to endure in the sick state she in is torture to me.. it straight out feel like they abuse her mentally and emotionally —— even with the so call “good intentions”.
The part where Lily and Miles relationship started… make me anxious of the outcome because of how unpredictable Miles is —— the whole pack and even Lily are doing things and reacting depending on Miles emotion and moods which is extremely unfair, i get that he is soo traumatize before and how awful his previous pack are etc but you can’t keep using that as an excuse for all your horrible behavior 😡. At one point i straight up feel like Miles is dominating the whole pack and everyone are just listening to all his demand and needs, always prioritizing him even after the “finally accepting Lily” moment —— reading that… even when Lily did feel slightly happy and better, make me feel enraged because i am witnessing everyone still walking on eggshells and Lily monitoring all Miles emotion not wanting to upsets Miles in anyway because she know that everything depends on Miles state of moods 😭 it hard seeing her going through all that, its like she getting crumbs of pack bond but still in standby fear mood of doing anything wrong due to how uncertain the whole things are.
And that ending broke me, my mind and heart is broke and can’t be mend…. He doesn’t answer. He won’t even look at me.
I hug him anyway. Wrap my arms around him, press my face into his neck, breathe him in. Burnt sugar and iron gone bitter. The scent I’ll forget as soon as Jeremy marks me. Hopefully.

Honestly when I realized this is out, I quickly pick it up thinking it is a continues from the previous book because we were left with a freaking cliffhanger and i am desperate for the next book to be out. But i was left quite confused when i realized all the names are different…. Then i check again… and i realize it is a new book centering a new pack/character but in the same series 🤯 —— kinda pissed at first because here i am hoping for the next book but we get a new pack ????? I mean can we finish the first pack first before dive into a new one 🫠
But oh well i continue on reading not knowing anything —— and BOOM! I get hit with another heartbreaking read with a horrible Alpha treating the FMC 💔 but my review for the first book in the series hit me legit in the face —— i did mention if the role is reversed in the first book, we would have pitying the other omega too ….. and the author slap me with this book which is the role reverse plot that i just mentioned 🙂↔️ i feel exposed with pain 😭😭 Now we are sad for a whole new reason🫠🫠 Not forgetting that we again left with a freaking cliffhanger…. At this point i think the author is testing my sanity with her story and cliffhanger 😶
Now focusing review about the story…. I don’t even know how to write about it, it was just so unexpected and very very messy. My heart legit went out for Lily fate in this book…. I keep on wishing to see her grow a backbone to just walk out from the pack… The way they treat her is horrible, all the words and action she have to endure in the sick state she in is torture to me.. it straight out feel like they abuse her mentally and emotionally —— even with the so call “good intentions”.
The part where Lily and Miles relationship started… make me anxious of the outcome because of how unpredictable Miles is —— the whole pack and even Lily are doing things and reacting depending on Miles emotion and moods which is extremely unfair, i get that he is soo traumatize before and how awful his previous pack are etc but you can’t keep using that as an excuse for all your horrible behavior 😡. At one point i straight up feel like Miles is dominating the whole pack and everyone are just listening to all his demand and needs, always prioritizing him even after the “finally accepting Lily” moment —— reading that… even when Lily did feel slightly happy and better, make me feel enraged because i am witnessing everyone still walking on eggshells and Lily monitoring all Miles emotion not wanting to upsets Miles in anyway because she know that everything depends on Miles state of moods 😭 it hard seeing her going through all that, its like she getting crumbs of pack bond but still in standby fear mood of doing anything wrong due to how uncertain the whole things are.

First, I would like to say Thank you very much Mary Magdalyn!!! for an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review!
4.5 Stars!
I want to start off by saying that I think Mary has put herself in a very unique and challenging spot with this new book. (And spoiler alert, she succeeded. This was amazing.)
On one hand, she was extremely successful in introducing a fresh new take the dual omega situation with Tormented Omega, that was both heart wrenching and completely emotionally satisfying (in my opinion). On the other hand, pretty much whenever I read any omegaverse, I will forever be thinking of the book that got me into this genre in the first place, and perhaps my favorite book ever, Pack Darling: Part One. And especially, when we get stories with packs with two omegas.
In this book, we have story of Lily and her pack, and on its face, the set up is much like in Pack Darling. Her scent matched pack already has a male Omega in the pack, who is not their scent match, but is their chosen omega. I don't want to spoil anything but I will say the relationship between Lily and Santos pack's male omega, Miles, is EVERYTHING , and their relationship is very different to Lilah and Orion's in Pack darling. So, similar set up, but everything you know will be turned on its head with a very Mary Magdalyn twist to it.
Now this is where the comparison to Tormented omega comes in. In this book we are very much getting that feral territorial cat energy as the omegas try to navigate cohabitating in the same pack and the emotions are BIG and STRONG, and the outbursts are DRAMATIC. The story is fast paced and punchy and you'll again be tempted to skip work to down this in one go, and we are left again on a brutal cliffie (that is honestly leaving me pretty desperate).
So at the end of the day, while this book may not be as unique in the setting and context as Tormented omega, it is definitely a fresh new take on the dynamic that feels like it is authentically coming from Mary's voice. One thing that this book helped me realize about her writing is that I love the way she uses sex scenes. Sex in these books is never just about the smut and never just about the filler (there's definitely a time and a place for that but its not here). Sex in these books is almost purely used as a way for the characters to express their emotions to one another, and as a way for them to understand each other more deeply. This is so different and unique in the romance genre in general, and I really love how these scenes work in the story as a physical extension of the characters emotional growth, and the growth of their bond with one another.
So...about the missing .5 star...
My only "issues" with this book arise purely by way of comparing it to Tormented Omega.
There are definitely some things that are similar timing and structure wise, between the development of Lily's relationship with her pack, and Vee's relationship with her old pack headed by Ragon. but I honestly don't mind the similarities, except for the fact that it actually made it really hard for me to warm up to the Santos pack .
This is because if I were comparing the two books, the Santos pack is essentially playing the role of Ragon's pack, and we all know how that went. It was really hard having just seen a similar scenario play out (although granted, with the Alphas making very different mistakes) from Vee's (who would be played by Miles in this case) perspective, and seeing how much it destroyed her. In fact, I'm still not sure I really "like" anyone in the Santos pack but Miles, but I'm confident Mary can turn this around for me in book 2.
I'll also say, I think getting Miles POV (I won't say more for spoilers) and seeing their relationship develop from her perspective made things feel different and better for him, for lack of a better way to put it.
My second and last complaint is that I really didn't like that we didn't really know who Lily was . From the beginning mainly what we know about her is: she has a mom who loves her very much, and a sister with a happy pack, and she's in a pretty shitty situation with her health, but we don't know about her as a person.
To be honest, I feel like this problem also existed a bit with Vee, but it was a bit better as when we first met Vee, we knew about the fact that she liked to stress bake at the very least, and we got to see her interact with her pack which showed us a bit of who she was and how she felt. In this book, I felt Lily was a bit one dimensional until we got to see about midway through.
By the end, this problem was nonexistent, and honestly the high tension plot was making up for this lack of character development in the beginning, so it wasn't entirely noticeable. It was more frustrating than anything, and I just really found myself wishing I knew who Lily was earlier on.
Anyways, TL;DR:
The standard of quality has been upheld, and if you liked Tormented Omega, you'll sure as hell like this one.

I enjoyed the last duet, but cant see any redeeeming features in this one and probably dont care enough to read it.
Lily a 22 year old omega has been at the registry for years waiting for a pack. Packs have come and gone and the one pack that has shown clear interest gives her the ick. But Lily's health is seriously at risk, years of heat suppressants and being touch starved are causing her very serious issues. The Registry basically make her attend a charity gala to try and met new alphas.
Its there she sees and detects her scent matches, but the Santos pack already has a male omega, the deeply traumatised and unstable Miles, who although isnt scent matched to them, is very precious. And Gabriel the pack lead promised Miles he would never be replaced.
When Gabriel hears the deeply unsavoury Foster pack are pressuring Lily, he offers a temporary solution, he will take her home and try and match her with a suitable pack. But he wont give up Miles or bond with Lily. And Miles is going to go nuclear when Lily moves in.
On the face of it a decent premise, similar to the first duology of the pull of scent matches vs bonding through love and affection. This time its the reverse scenario. But this book annoyed me on so many levels. Miles the male omega is suck a dick, he is so nasty, spiteful and deranged.
The alphas just let him do what he likes. Gabriel is trying to do the best for everyone but failing miserably. He's cold towwards Lily and pretty awful on occasion. Garrett is nice but weak, Cyrus has the personality of a table.
Its the FMC who lets this down though. I dont think any female author has any business writing such a pathetic, docile, subjugated character. Lily infuriated me so much, she was so weak. I need to feel invested in and to root for a FMC and quite frankly I didnt for Lily.
She didnt have my respect nor any for herself. I know omegas are traditionally submissive but Vee's character in the Tormented Omega was feisty and sassy. Lily was a doormat with no personality. She let herself be treated like crap, especially by Miles.
I got mad, read the end chapters just see what happens. Lily, as boring as she is deserves to find a brand new pack, not the Santos, Foster or Carr pack. I hope she gives them a big FU and sails off into the sunset.

Okay this book…. Was definitely something. The book was written well but… where is the romance in this? They abuse her and let their disgusting omega do whatever he needs because he is in pain. Boo Hoo.

But for an Omega to act like Miles did for pretty much all of the book? Unbelievable and definitely unredeemable. He physically and emotional abused the female omega to a degree he has no worth. And the alphas? Those who run charities and help save children and wounded omegas? They allow it. They are so worried he will break a nail to realize what a monster he is in reality. He didn’t get to act that way just because of the impossible situation. She was dying about to be forced into a pack the was nightmarish. You know what I would love to see in books like this? Where the alphas chose and omega then find their scent match? I would love to see the scent match thrown down that her fated mates didn’t wait for her. That they were always hers and the squatter didn’t have a right to be angry when they knew what they were getting into. Miles is sitting in lily’s seat at the table and she feels sorry for him and allows his grotesque behavior because she like everyone else is beaten down by his over the top pain. Sorry but not sorry. She wasn’t y’all’s mate she was your victim.
The main alpha, Gabriel, the man with so much goodness and compassion to help others did not care she was dying. That their touch, her mates would literally save her life. He told her to lie about it so it wouldn’t hurt his chosen dick of a mate. Yep. Let that sink in.
This pack is worse than any MMC’s I have read before. These men act like the villains who justify abuse and cruelty because of their promise to another. A promise that was a lie because without a mate mark or a scented match how could they hold 100% true to it?
Please have mercy on this girl and give her a pack she actually deserves someone who will chose her from the beginning and see her worth. Not ones who treat her like she’s nothing but a dog.

Full disclosure I am a ACR for this book as I truly love this writer's books. Stray Omega is a set in the same Omegaverse universe as her other duet Tormented Omega/Claimed Omega and this book is part 1 or 2 as a duet. So it does end on a cliffhanger. Like this other's other books the first book in the duet is often filled with the hard stuff that makes me cry and feel the pain of the main character. This author has a way of not just telling you what is happening but writing it in such a way that you feel it fully along with the characters. This book is different from her other first of a duet as it has multiple view points which really helps this book even more.
While Tormented/Claimed Omega duet is primarily focused on the Pack Omega's experience when her Alpha's bring home their Scent Match and the slow destruction of Vee; this book is from almost the opposite perspective. Stray Omega is the Scent Match who is brought into the home of her Scent Matched Alphas who already have an Omega and do not want her. This story is focuses on how they break her down, give her hope and then break her again. Though the structure is somewhat similar to the Vee's story in Tormented it really feels like an entire other experience and you become as invested in Lily as you did Vee. I can not recommend this book more to anyone who likes Omegaverse books that have hard edges, rejection and pain. As with her other books I trust the second part of this duet will repair and heal those of us that read it. Trust me you will not regret reading this!
