This is a western contemporary romance, 2nd edition, rewritten and revised.
Christy McKinley, successful attorney in Boston, has her routine life interrupted when unexpected events force her to take a leave of absence from work and fly to Colorado to find her two years old stepbrother, Matthew. Jared Reed, a rugged rancher finds himself in charge of a failing ranch and a two years old nephew when his brother and sister-in-law die in a car accident. Two more different people as Christy and Jared could not be and they seem to disagree in everything except their love for little Mathew and the determination to save the ranch as his inheritance. As weeks go by and the two get to know each other better, the attraction grows and the old saying that opposites attract comes true.
Vivian Sinclair always enjoyed dreaming up stories. When she had time in her busy life, she used to disappear with her laptop to write. Her family often found her in her office immersed in the world of fiction. And because a good dream should be a happy one, all her books have happy-endings. She was a pioneer of e-publishing. Her first book, a contemporary romance, was e-published in 1997 under a different pen name. She has written several other contemporary romances. In the last few years, she also started writing women’s fiction. After years of moving from the East Coast to the Midwest and then to the Pacific Northwest, after traveling all over the United States, Vivian settled in the Seattle area, where she lives with her husband and her daughter.
I enjoyed the story of Jared, Christy and Matt. It was a sweet entertaining read about love and family, The only thing I didn't like was the cover the cowboy on the cover looks to be in his fifties and Jared was 38, just saying you can't judge a book by it's cover
I loved it! I go looking on Amazon for Kindle books every so often, and this one jumped out at me because not only was it my favorite type of book (romance), but there's a cowboy on the front, and I definitely have a soft spot for a cute cowboy. This book was everything I had hoped it would be! Great story, interesting characters, and I book that I wished could just keep going. Great book!
The story is okay, you pretty much can predict how the scenes will be. Found that a lot of this writer's phrasing was very stilted and awkward, the characters were one dimensional and not very well developed, the story line was very superficial and lacked depth. I also found the characters seemed to lack real emotion, what there was seemed forced and unreal. I found it very hard to get involved and stay involved with the story line though I struggled I did finish but doubt I will read any more from this author.
Darn awful. Couldnt carry on. Heroine's mom has has died and she and the hero are checking each other out. He was so mean and nasty. I couldn't stand how the housekeeper kept reminding the hero that the heroine was a proper lady from Boston. Arghh. Not for me. No sirree!
