Fairytale Mafia

Before I eviscerate this book, let me just say that the writing was really good and the plot wasn’t half bad. Honestly, it’s probably just me, as I’ve been on vacation and read it a lot slower than I normally would.

This is one of those stories that one guy dumped a girl, because he thought her butt was getting too wide for his perfect self. Then she is approached by the brother of her ex who wanted her back at the family business. And so yes, it was instant love. There is excitement passion, danger and a strong woman. What it doesn’t have is anything realistic and unique. This is a three star spicy romantic suspense-ish.

I am conflicted. I absolutely loved this one, until they went to New Orleans. Then I kind of got a little agitated.

Julian - He is your typical Pakhan MMC. Possessive. Controlling. Older. Overall very dark grey flag. And very delicious. He has been away for a few years taking care of the Bratva side of things overseas but now he's back to claim his throne...and apparently Lyra as well.

Lyra - She was dating his brother 👀 who cheated on her with her best friend. The brother fires her from the family business and Julian hires her back on, decides he wants her, tries to keep it professional, fails, and then the rest is history. I will say she is the smartest FMC from KC in a while. She actually uses her head.

It was the continuity errors, incorrect location details, and lack of chemistry that caused the lower stars. I'll be honest and say that I'm normally not one to pay attention to exact locations. However, when it comes to my hometown, it stood out like a sore thumb. To start with it says that she grew up in the Gentilly area in New Orleans. Omg I know EXACTLY where that is. This is perfect. No. They then proceed to say her parent's houss is on Piety Street in the Bywater. Which ok someone can be from Gentilly and live in the Bywater now. Like that's fine but they make it seem like her parents have been in that house her whole life....it's fine. Moving on.They walk by the Frenchman Street Market which to my knowledge is only open at night...but it's early morning so that can't be right. And then all of a sudden they are at Lafayette Cemetery #1 which is in the Garden Distric. While I have walked a ton in the city, that's just a decent little walk alllllllll the way over there and back. So like I hope they got an Uber or something. Idk. The entire thing threw me off at that point.

Not to mention Julian is called a Don. He is not a Don. He is Pakhan. Don is Italian. Pakhan is Russian. I feel like someone who has written so many of these books should know this like without thinking. Julian's aunt and mother's names get mixed up. When they visit the orphanage they state he personally made repairs himself last year. My dude was out of the country, but ok...

Maybe it's just me being picky. The story flows quickly and while I didn't feel as much of a spark between the two, they did have some decent dialog moments I will give them that.

DNF middle of the second chapter. Nope, nope nope nope. This is what happens when I don't leave notes. I knew I had tried another K.C. Crowne book at some point and had some vague impression of not liking it, but I thought maybe it was a mood thing and might not be so bad.

Yeeeeah, no.

Let me be clear so I don't make the mistake in the future. Melodramatic, ridiculously cliche, total delusional revenge fantasy that takes itself WAY too seriously. If it leaned into its own ridiculousness I could maybe get behind it, but when the FMC is making cringe worthy speeches that are supposed to be inspiring, I'm out.

I loved the public revenge, family loyalty, and found-family moments mixed with the high-stakes mafia drama. The chemistry was intense, though a few plot points felt predictable, keeping it from being a five-star read. I’m giggling writing this bc it’s literally called silver fox daddies. Talk about a classic, stick to the script, mafia romance. Truthfully I never tire of the same plot written over and over again. Julian is a grown ass man, I think Lyra is in her 20s but I could’ve made that up. In case you are wondering, Julian’s eyes are “gunmetal grey”, as mentioned at least once a chapter. Anyways this was fun as hell and I feel no shame in the joy I experienced reading it.

This book felt unnecessarily long. It was an ok story, but 400 pages was a lot. Also, there are some details and number issues that could use a proof read. The bratva meeting is 12 days a way, but 3 weeks later it's still 3 days away? Julian says he's waited 48 years to take him mom's ring out of the vault. She died when he was 10. So, is he supposed to be 58? The story doesn't make a lot of sense if he's that old. The author never says how old anyone is, but it would make more sense if Julian was in his late 30's to early 40's. It does say he was an adult when Alexander was 9-10, but an adult could be in their 20's. Alex being older than early 30's also wouldn't make sense because it would make Laura too old for other cues in the story. Alex could definitely be younger than that though. Anya is "college age" so he could be closer in age to her. Laura didn't need to come back at the very end. That was a wasted storyline.

This book also does that thing where it tries to soften the ganster/mafia boss. It always feels inconsistent in my head. He's mushy and lovely and then beats people to death. He'd be a terrible don. The insta love is also odd. I don't think Julian had met Lyra before, but he immediately starts pursuing her and acting like he's been in love with her for years and it getting his shot. She kind of does it too, but there's no explanation or introspective recognition from the characters.

The author alludes to horrible things Alex and Sophia did to Lyra and public embarrassment, but doesn't give any previous examples. Why would Lyra apply to the foundation under her mother's maiden name to prevent the appearance of cronyism if Sophia got her the job and she wasn't dating Alex yet? What was the old debt Julian settled with Mr. Yang by giving him Sophia and Alex to put in a super-max prison? Why didn't Lyra's dad take off his Saints hat during her black tie wedding? Seriously, he couldn't take off his hat? Why bother introducing Ethan and Anya as a couple if you aren't going to do anything with it? If it's for a sequel, you could always allude to it at the end like a hint/mini cliffhanger/foreshadowing. The author makes it sound so dramatic with Ethan saying he's found the love of his life but he can't have her. Then 2 sentences later Anya walks in and they hold each other and walk out as a couple. Um...ok, nothing burger, until the second epilogue.

They keep changing the family last name between Volkova and Volkov. I don't know if this is a conjugation thing, but it's odd without an explanation.

Finally, does Lyra have 0 friends? Sophia is the only person mentioned in the whole story. How does she not have any friends at all, not even passingly mentioned?

Lyra is an events planning genius. She works for a company with known affiliations to the Bratva but loves her job. Plus there is the extra stress of helping out her parents due to a condition her father has. So when she gets fired because her ex-fiancé has decided to play house with her ex bff she has to figure out what to do to keep her head above the proverbial waters.

Julian had never met Lyra before the gala, but since she walked into the ballroom he can’t look away. His brother was a fool to leave this woman. Now as he returns to regain control of their father’s empire after being gone for 3 years, he has decided he not only wants the CEO/Bratva crown he also wants Lyra.

KC has done it again! I love these books. Lyra has body issues which I think most women struggle with and having a man like Julian to tell you that everything you’d been told before was a lie and you are beautiful exactly as you are is amazing. I wanted to cry when she went to cover herself because I’ve been there. That feeling is Awful but also more common than you’d think.

I loved the banter between these two, as well as how united they were from the get go. Even when they both tried fighting it and walking away. Which never ends well for either party. Some people are just meant to be together. And these two are those people.

If you love dark/mafa romances then dive into the world of KC Crowne. This book is part of the Silver Fox Daddies series but can be read as a stand alone.

The sizzle was intense and the desires were strong in this hot, entertaining read with lots of twists, a bit of drama, some action and danger-filled encounters, as well as a few swoon worthy moments, that had me captivated from the beginning until the end.

The author keeps you turning the pages with all the mystery, intrigue, and danger everyone suddenly finds themselves in. Will Julian be able to keep Lyra safe, or will the perpetrators always be one step ahead?

Great story! Loved Lyra Thibodeaux. LOVED HER! I mean, Ho-lee Shamoka, what an awesome, strong character. Nothing weak about her. This story began on high speed and literally maintained that dramatic excitement to the end. I couldn’t put this one down. A few editing issues that caused me to reread various chapters to see if I missed or misunderstood something. For instance:
1. Chapter 15 gets names all mixed up. Aunt Elena becomes Irina (Julian’s mother), and vice versa. Easily figured out but slowed down reading momentum forcing me to backtrack.
2. Also Julian is Pakhan (Russian Bratva boss), not a Don (Italian Mafia Boss).
3. In chapter 16, Julian and Lyra visit Irina‘s house, “a home for every child“. There we find out that he visits the orphaned children of this home at least once a month and that he made repairs himself the previous year. How is this possible when he’s been abroad for three years and he just returned to NYC a few weeks ago?
4. Character details are weak. I love that Lyra is a curvy girl but other than that, I really have no idea what she looks like. Her hair color, etc. I would like to have known the age difference between Julian and Lyra. How old are they?

This is Lyra and Julian's story, the next in the Silver Fox Daddies series, It moves at a fast pace. Lyra is engaged to Alexander until he decides her friend is a better match. Alexander and Lyra's former friend are easy to dislike, coming across as the kind of mean-spirited bullies everyone remembers from high school. Unfortunately, neither character shows much growth throughout the story. Alexander fires Lyra from her job, ends their engagement, and publicly belittles her.

After spending several years away, Alexander's older brother, Julian, returns and immediately takes an interest in Lyra. Their romance develops quickly, although some of the events that bring them together feel a bit too convenient and clearly serve to move the plot along. The spicy scenes also become somewhat repetitive.

The book could benefit from another round of editing, as there are a few instances where character names are mixed up (Elena and Irina, Ethan and Evan). That said, the story is well paced overall and wraps everything up with a satisfying HEA.

I hate loose ends. You know those characters who were part of the story then disappear and you have to make up your own ending for them, good or bad. They nag me and can ruin a story. This story has no loose ends. We find out what happens to all characters, friends and enemies, good and bad, and it's all very satisfying.

Lyra is understandingly reluctant to get involved with her ex's half-brother. He's older, deadly and the mafia pakhan. Not the best candidate for a steady, reliable rebound. He is also reluctant, not wanting to paint a target on her back. When Julian comes to her defense from her annoyingly petty ex and his equally annoying mother and girlfriend, that reluctance begins to fade.

This book kept me up at night with its ongoing action, danger and heat. I didn't want to put it down and fall asleep. I wanted to know what was going to happen next, immediately. Lyra and Julian deserve their happy ending and there are several people who deserve an unhappy ending. This author delivered in the best possible way.

Steamy, suspenseful, and packed with drama, this was another addictive read from K.C. Crowne. Julian and Lyra fought hard for their happy ending, and I enjoyed every chaotic moment of their journey.

As a huge KC Crowne fan, this was another 5-star read for me! Julian is exactly the kind of silver fox mafia hero I love. He's powerful, protective, morally gray, and completely obsessed once he decides the heroine belongs with him. I loved the way he stepped in after her world fell apart and never once made her question where she stood with him.

The chemistry between them was amazing, but I also appreciated that the story had plenty of suspense and emotional moments mixed in. Watching the heroine rebuild her confidence after everything she went through made it easy to root for her, and Julian's fierce loyalty made him impossible not to love. The mafia politics, family drama, and action kept the story moving, and I honestly didn't want to put it down. If you enjoy dark mafia romance with a possessive silver fox hero, age gap, lots of tension, and a well-earned HEA, I definitely recommend this one. ❤️🔥.

This is Lyra and Julian's story. It flows quickly. Lyra was engaged to Alexander until he decided her friend was better. Those two are easily the unlikeable mean bullies that everyone knew in high school. They fired Lyra from her job, broke the engagement and tried to belittle her. Julian is the head of the house. He's Alexander's older half-brother. He immediately takes a liking to Lyra. Their relationship of quick & she does do the push pull thing which drives me nuts. That's one of the reasons it didn't get a five. The others, Julian is the head, just because he's been out of the country doesn't mean Alexander is suddenly the head. Adding more jealousy or deviousness rather than whiny little brat would have helped. Aside from the story was paced well and tied up things in a way that the reader felt satisfied. This was an absolute page-turner! I was hooked from the very first chapter and finished it in less than 24 hours because I simply couldn't put it down.

The chemistry between the FMC and MMC was undeniable from the start, making it impossible not to root for them. I absolutely despised the MMC's stepmother, half-brother, and the FMC's former best friend. They were manipulative, greedy, power-hungry bullies, which made it all the more satisfying that the MMC stood up for and defended the FMC every chance he got.

The story is packed with unexpected twists, nonstop suspense, and constant assassination attempts that kept me on the edge of my seat. If you enjoy fast-paced romantic suspense with strong character chemistry and plenty of action, this is definitely a book worth reading.

K.C. definitely knows how to get you invested in her stories right from the get go, and Feral King was no exception. I loved Lyra and Julian’s story. Despite being the best at what she does on behalf of Volkov Industries Lyra, has been let go without so much as a second thought. Julian Volkov has recently returned to reclaim his rightful spot as CEO of Volkov Industries, much to the anger and jealousy of his younger half brother, and Lyra’s Ex. There was danger, drama, and back room deals all while the romance between Lyra and Julian was becoming all consuming. I loved how strong Lyra was as she met every hit head on. Julian was all alpha and would stop at nothing to keep Lyra safe, even taking on his own family in this page turning read. Once I started reading this book I literally couldn't put it down! Julian and Lyra are written so well that I fell in love with them! Julian is definitely a bit morally grey but the way he loves and respects Lyra was really nice to read. Lyra is a take charge kind of woman that knows what she wants and I love that about her.

This book will definitely keep you on your toes in some parts and the spice will make you sweat a bit. I wish we had a universal spice chart to consult because we all have our own opinions but I would give Julian and Lyra a solid 🌶🌶🌶. KC knows how to write a good sexy scene where I am usually like "You go girlfriend with your bad self!" I actually hate that I read this book so fast because that's how I roll but I hate that it's over.

Wow, I couldn’t put this down! I was grabbed from the very beginning. Julian is a Bratva leader and Lyra is an event planner who organized a charity event honoring his late mother’s charity. It’s instant attraction when he sees Lyra at the event. He is a fascinating mix of violence and extreme tenderness and protection for those he loves. He is a complex character and K.C Crowne created him with such depth. Lyra has been demeaned by her ex-fiancée Alex, who is Julian’s younger half-brother. Julian’s acceptance and adoration of her allows her to blossom.

Ferel King is filled with mystery, treachery, and love. As Julian and Lyra’s relationship deepens, so does the intrigue and violence. It is a story of family, jealousy, and redemption. This was a good read and the characters worked good together. He was the heir to the empire, both legal and illegal, and he returned to take over and set eyes on an instant attraction to his half brothers ex-girlfriend. She was working for the company, but was then fired because her ex. Couldn’t keep it in his pants and cheated with her best friend.
When they met the fire between them was fire and they both tried to ignore it, but it burned hot and fierce. Julian and Lyra are both put in the middle of an internal struggle for power, and they both would protect each other as their bond grows.
They survive betrayal, unexpected alliances, and the forming of their family. They survived and are stronger then ever and continues to grow both as a couple, as parents, and as the head of the Bratva.

Lyra got dumped by her fiancé for her best friend at an event that she (Lyra) coordinated. She was also publicly fired and humiliated. But she was quickly rehired and promoted by her ex’s much older and mysterious brother Julian.

These two have lots of chemistry and an immediate connection. Lyra needs money to help with her dad’s health problems. She’s also ambitious and passionate. She’s comfortable in her skin and doesn’t allow anyone to make her feel less than.

Julian is perfect for her. He’s protective, just as passionate and has a lot of confidence in his decisions. Hes completely committed to her and the family they’re building. They sizzle together.

There’s no real 3rd act breakup. The villains are obvious. The plot is tight and there are no surprises.

In this book we meet Lyra Thibodeaux & Julian Volkov. When this book opens we find Lyra at a gallery opening. What we learn is that this woman is the ex-fiance of another Volkov brother. We learn tht Lyra has gone through a lot with this family and is just looking to close the door after this one last even. Julian personally invited Lyra to this gallery opening not to date her but to try and win her back to working on the charity she has just recently been ltet go from. What neither of them expected was the feelings they would have starting that very first night. Can these two find a HEA or will others make sure that never happens?

Another amazing story by this author. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Now Julian who is Alexander's older half-brother has an attraction for Lyra. Now Julian is a man who would want on your side, all alpha and brooding. While Alexander is jealous, whinny, small minded child man. Who believes he is in charge when Julian is away.
Now even though Julian is older, and the mafia Pakhan, deadly would Lyra see him as a rebound…But when he steps in when is brother and now girlfriend , cause her problems he steps in. Changing how she sees him.
Drama, angst, danger. Hot chemistry.

She was engaged to his brother who humiliated her ruined her career and had been secretly cheating on her. The last thing she expects is the older brother to step in, hire her back and claim her. He is a hot silver fox who has all of the alpha energy. This one is definitely a story about family drama mixed in with the Bratva drama and power struggles. The romance is the secondary arc, but it still steps up with some steamy scenes. I personally like a little more relationship building, and it felt like they were bonding more over the drama in the mutual enemies, then focusing on the chemistry between them. You definitely get your winner take all moments and happily ever after.

Julian Volkov - first born and therefore raised to take over as head of the NYC Bratva - returns to NYC after spending three years in Asia to secure the cooperation of the Triad for their enterprise.
His half brother Alexander was left in charge in the meantime, however, Julian is not happy about how he ran the show.
Lyra - Alexander’s former girl friend - who was kicked out of her job of event planner for the Volkov charities by Alexander, is reinstated by Julian which sets off a load of bad blood between the two men.
This story is full of family feuds, back stabbing Bratva dons on the one had and scorching feelings between Julian and Lyra who lean they are a hell of a team the rest has to deal with.
I had a great time with this interesting mix of characters 👏🏼

This made man was so hot, and he really was absolutely feral about the FMC! It completely delivers on the dark Russian mafia romance dynamic with a perfect mix of dangerous tension and steamy heat. The chemistry between the characters is fantastic, providing that ideal blend of high-heat romance and gripping emotional depth. I absolutely loved diving into this installment of the Silver Fox Daddies series and seeing just how intensely protective and obsessed the hero could be. KC Crowne does a fantastic job of keeping you hooked from the very first page.

If you are looking for a fast-paced, action-packed mafia romance with a fiercely devoted lead and an engaging plot, I highly recommend checking this one out!

This is another gripping and engaging addition to the series and I loved following Julian and Lyra to their fab and steamy HEA. She's the event planner for the company and Julian's half brother's ex. She caught her fiancé cheating on her, so yeah, she's left that behind...but not really with them all working at the same place. Julian had been abroad setting up new business for their mafia but now he's back to run their company and settle back in to being the Pakhan. Well, lets just say that there's a lot of drama, in this read, and plenty of action. There's also a ton of chemistry and steam. Needless to say, I was thrilled that their journey ended in the best place ;) Definitely a page turner and I'm looking forward to the next book. Good fun!
