4 - "I don't want to become a regret for you." Stars!
Four brothers, two legitimate, two illegitimate… and the reading of a will that is going to cause a few fireworks are what gives us the story of Ryder Ford and Addison Wells. Some Mistletoe, an unplanned kiss and three months worth of sexual frustration find this couple in a storage closet sexing, sorry I meant seeing out a storm!
Work place romances are always a good read in my book, and this quick and sexy novella had everything I needed for an hour of reading enjoyment, and it set up the new Tule Publishing; Whiskey River series really well. Ryder was sweet and sexy, Addison strong, sassy, and a little reluctant, it made Ryder’s pursuance of her even sweeter.
”Lie to yourself if you want but I’m not going to.”
The will has been read, the terms laid out, and the Kelly and Blue brothers are now set up to have their stories told. Trey Kelly is up first in One Night with the Cowboy if it’s as good as Where There’s a Will then this series is going to be a keeper!
I enjoyed the idea of the plot for Where There's a Will but I found there was a lack of actually executing the story. Since it's #1 in a series, I wasn't expecting it do be so short! I felt like everything about the plot, characters, and romance was rushed. There was no building up to the chemistry between them. I liked the part when they were confined in a small space together (trying to be vague here), I felt like this was the most readers got to really see of Addison. I really liked Ryder and Addison, I just wish we actually got to learn more about them.
Meet the Kellys of Whiskey River, Texas, men who have always gone through life, and women, with their father’s legendary charm.
This is the story of Ryder Ford, the attorney who sets in motion the future stories of aforementioned Kellys ...
Ryder Ford is the sexy attorney for Whiskey River. Addison Wells is his secretary. BOTH hot for each other. NEITHER willing to make the first move. Until Mother Nature does it for them ....
The is was a quick and sexy office romance that no one should miss. It was fun and easy to read. It's a prequel of sorts to the Whiskey River series but written in a way that is not short or unsatisfying. Great characters withe enthusiastic chemistry!

This story was a fast forward, rapid fire romance. It went from zero to one hundred in two seconds flat. I liked where it was headed, but I would have appreciated more. By the time I got to the end, I definitely wanted to know more about this cast of characters.
Where There's a Will straddles the line for me of both good and bad. The book started off slow for me, in fact, I had to check three times that I was reading the correct book and that the right one was sent. It's not horribly written but when it gets down to the nitty gritty, this novella is laying the ground work for Ryder's cousin's books. That's made very clear in the first and last chapters.
The actual characters, Ryder and Addison. I felt more of a connection to Addison, where Ryder for me was lacking. Even though he was doing everything right, it just felt off. Lets not even go into every single time I read Ryder, I think of the Disney movie Tangled and I see the swoon face.
Don't tell me you didn't see that coming. It just basically killed it for me, because Ryder -is- sweet. To quote Addison about him, and I do have to agree.
"There was nothing about Ryder that wasn't solid and real. And trustworthy."
He's a pretty stand up guy and you really do get that a majority of the time. I can still probably blame Disney for this.
Addison on the other hand has her head on straight. She's in school and she's drug herself up by her fingernails to get where she is. This girl came from the "wrong side of the tracks", and fought for what she wants. She's what I would call resilient. Throughout most the book, she goes into an inner monologue of why these two can be together. She even gets snarky about it to Ryder.
Eventually, they both stop fighting it and pair up... at which point, it accelerates quickly. Given the fact that Addison works for Ryder, it's not like they are clueless about each other. The attraction has been there, on the back burner, just simmering.
All in all, it's a good short read. It would make a great commuter book for sure. One that you don't need to devote a lot of attention too and I'd for sure read it if you were planning to read the other books in the series.

Where There’s a Will by Katherine Garbera and Eve Gaddy is a prequel novella to a new series they are collaborating on – The Whiskey River Series. This was a great novella and really sets up what you can expect for the new series to come. This novella made me excited to read the new series.
Where There’s a Will is about attorney, Ryder Ford, and his law student secretary, Addison Wells. You can feel the sparks flying while they are locked in a closet seeking shelter from tornado warnings. Is this true love or just lust?
This novella is a really quick read and fairly light. The only complaint that I have, as I do most stand alone novellas, is that the storyline doesn’t have a chance to really in depth and the characters don’t really get a chance to get developed fully. Regardless, this was a fun read.
I received an ARC through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This was a novella to introduce The Whiskey River Texas Hill Country series. Loved this sweet fun heartwarming read. Ryder Ford has been thinking about kissing his law student assistant Addison Wells since she kissed him under the mistletoe at the Christmas party. The heat between them has them both thinking about a repeat performance. But Addison Wells is in her last semester of law school and after she passes the bar she has planned to move on to a new job in a different town, so when an unexpected storm is headed their way and they have to seek shelter together Ryder and Addison decide to take full advantage of this alone time. But what happens after Addison goes for her interview? Will Ryder and Allison find their HEA? Loved the flirty banter and the sweet heartwarming fun in this story. Can't wait to read more.
Where There's A Will may be a short novella, but it's sweet and sexy and does a great job of laying the foundations to another series from Tule Publishing that I'm no doubt going to love.
A Christmas kiss, a couple of months of both skirting around the other wishing for more, and a tornado sees attorney Ryder Ford and attorney-to-be Addison Wells holed up in a closet waiting for the storm to pass. He woo's, she resists and I spent an hour happy. Their romance opens the Whiskey River series nicely and introduces us to the Four Brothers, two legitimate, two illegitimate and you can just tell it's not going to be a walk in the park.
Looking forward to seeing where Eve Gaddy and Katherine Garbera take this series.
I enjoyed this novella it was a quick read and I really liked Ryder, "irked, he kissed her. When she would have spoken he kissed her again. “Honey, if you’re trying to frustrate me you’re doing a good job of it." I found it funny when he got mad it was so sexy, "Ryder ground his teeth. “You didn’t hurt my feelings. You pi**ed me off royally."
Two of my favorite authors came together to create a series that I will be following until the very end. With Where There's a Will each author gives their best. The finished product ends up being a heartwarming story that is fun, emotional and romantic. Received this book for an honest review.
A very quick intense romance novella. Too much sex too fast for my liking before much charecter build up, part of a series Whiskey River. Hot Hot cover, love the colorfulness of it!
Don't like the ending standings are good but I don't like you that they don't in you got to get to another book before you can read it and find out how it ends and then worst of it is you can't find them in this stupid dang I've got the Android so I mean it's like cooking dinner and smiling and smells good
I don't like the way she leaves the ending hanging out there so that you've got to read another book to do it and get out the books are not expensive but I just assumed get it all at one time so I don't have to dig through the Android it look for the other half to the book it's very irritating it's like cooking dinner looking forward to it sitting down and there's no food. What in the heck is the purpose of that except to get you to buy another book by just complete payone time Joan
2 set of brothers find out that they are all brothers as adults (during the reading of the father's will) Father was a well off businessman and well known as a playboy always chasing the next woman. All the brothers are nerous about their heritage as men - can they settled down. In this first book all four brothers find each other and learn they must live together for a year from their cousin the lawyer. Ryder had been unable to tell them since the desceaed had demanded confidentiality. In the mean time a tornado threatens that force Ryder to deal with his assistant and love interest. HEA
I enjoyed reading Texas Heirs(Whiskey River Series Book 1)!!! All about Addison Wells she’s a legal secretary in her mid-twenties & Ryder Ford is an attorney in his early thirties. Addison has worked in his law office for the three attorneys for several years, as she try’s to obtain her law degree. Read about Addison & Ryder as they learn more about each other when they are stuck in the closet during a Tornado watch. Lots of emotion and some toe curling does occur. Deficiency Read!!!
3 stars. A very quick prelude to the Whiskey River series. This tells of the lawyer of Boots Kelly's will and sets up the premise off the future books. This was a workplace romance set during a tornado watch. It was a little too quick of a read that didn't quite manage to round the the characters off, but was the perfect prelude to the future books of four brothers who have to come together to satisfy the will in order to get their inheritance. An OK read .
Texas Heirs is the start to the Whiskey River series. It’s the story of Addison and Ryder. It also sets the stage for what’s going to happen with Boots Kelly’s sons, legitimate and illegitimate. I can’t wait to read all the books. Grab your copy and see how Ryder and Addison survived the tornado.
Ryder was going to have to read his uncle's will for his cousin's and he had some shocks for them. Addison has been the legal secretary while going to law school and is going to look for a full time position after graduation. She & Ryder have been dancing around each other until the town gets hit with a tornado and they are in a closet together.
Ryder Ford , an attorney, will need to unravel a will to his cousins. (more series to come regarding these cousins.) His job runs smoothly due to his secretary Addison overseeing all the schedules. When he is trapped in same building with Addison, their attractions explode. Addison will be finishing her law degree and she was ready to move to Austin. But will Ryder let Addison go? This book feels more like novella and introduction to rest of the series. Insta love between Ryder and Addison. It was quick and easy read. Thanks to Netgalley and Tule publishing for copy and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

the Whiskey River series! One Night With The Cowboy
Where There’s A Will is a short, fast, sexy and entertaining prequel to the new series Whiskey River. Ryder Ford is an established attorney, one who will soon have to gather four brothers together for the reading of a will that he really doesn’t want to do. Addison Wells is Ryder’s secretary, a law student herself who will soon leave Whiskey River in the dust as she heads out of town for her own career as a lawyer.
The problem for both of them is their shared and ignored attraction to each other. One kiss was enough to convince each that they should stay far away from the other. One kiss that neither could forget and would very much like to repeat.
When storm sirens sound Ryder and Addison take shelter together – and then the fun really starts.
Since this story is short and a prequel, I don’t want to chance spoiling any of it for you. So I’ll stop here.
I love to start new series, and the first novel or novella in a new series usually sets the tone for the coming books. I often decided whether I’ll continue a series based on the first one, how well it pulls me in to wanting to know more. Sadly, not every first book does that. With Where There’s A Will, I (and you) got lucky because this is a story that draws you in enough to want to know more about this town and the people who live there.
I enjoyed Ryder and Addison’s story. They are a couple who belong together, but each one is fighting the attraction for their own reasons. I finished this novella in about an hour, so it doesn’t take up much time – but it does deliver a very good story and a strong start to the Whisky River series.
I recommend this one for those that love struggling lovers, a bit of a mystery and the fun of simply falling in love. Pick this one up, I believe you’ll find yourself a new series to follow.
*I received an e-ARC of Where There’s A Will from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. That does not change what I think of this novel.*
~What you, the reader, always must remember is this simple truth. Any review is just one person’s opinion. You might feel the same or totally different. The only way to know for certain if any novel is right for you – is for you to read it. This was my opinion of this particular book.~
Where There's a Will, by Katherine Garbera, and Eve Gaddy, was a fun, sweet, romantic novella. This was my first time reading a book by these authors. I am very impressed by the number of books that they have written, and I'm happy that I discovered them through my NetGalley search.
This is a very short read. I read it in about an hour and I had a huge smile on my face by the end of it! If a book is short, the most important thing to me is the chemistry between the characters. It does not matter if the book I read has 50 pages or 500, if I can't connect to the main characters there is a big chance I won't enjoy my reading journey. These authors did a great job with this novella. Addison and Ryder are two lovable characters that caught my attention from the very beginning. Their chemistry is hot and their romantic journey was believable.
Where There's a Will introduces us to the Whiskey River Series. If I go by the information that we got in this novella, this series will have four other books. The authors wrote a novella about Addison Wells and Ryder Ford, but they also introduced us to the cast of characters that will be key players for the rest of this series. Addison feels an attraction to her boss since the moment that they first meet. Her ''no office romance'' rule is in full effect until one stormy night gets them both locked up in a closet. Those few hours spent together makes them reveal the feelings they have towards each other. Will Addison's plan to move away to start her new career mix up Ryder's plans to win her heart?
Like I mentioned before, my connection with Addison and Ryder was instant. I really liked them both and how honest they were about their feelings. I loved Ryder's determination to make Addison stay. I don't usually like stories with insta-love, but I really liked this one. If you are a fan of office romance and are looking for a really quick read, this novella will deliver! I won't get into details about what is written in the will, but what I will tell you is that after Ryder read the will I was left wanting more!!!
I give Where There's a Will, by Katherine Garbera, and Eve Gaddy, 3.5 sweet, romantic, enjoyable stars!
*I received an ARC of Where There’s a Will from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.*
Seasoned attorney Ryder Ford wants what he can’t have—his secretary. Addison Wells is set on becoming an attorney and leaving Whiskey River behind. But a kiss shared between boss and secretary sparks flames in both they can no longer deny. Ryder will need to convince Addison she has a reason to stay in town, and Addison will have to decide if being in love with Ryder is the same as being dependent on him.
Where There’s a Will is a novella that introduces the characters for the Whiskey River series. This short story features Ryder and Addison, who work together at Ryder’s law firm, and it also brings in four brothers who will need to play nice on their family’s ranch for the next year. The problem I had was that the introduction of the brothers felt disjointed from the rest of the plot. At the beginning of the story, we’re told that Ryder will need to read his uncle’s will, but there is practically no other information on that until the very end.
I had trouble getting invested in the relationship between the main characters because they both were too back-and-forth about their feelings. Ryder was lusting after Addison, but then he thought it wouldn’t be a good idea to get involved because they work together, and shortly after that he wanted to make love to her and asked her out on a date. Addison knew it wasn’t a good idea to start anything because she was planning to leave town, then she slept with him—twice—and right afterward she told him it was a nice distraction. My head was spinning. I didn’t know what to believe from this couple.
The story was decently written and had a good idea for the plot. I just thought it could have been executed better.
2.5 stars. This short, swift novella is a brief intro to one of those secret families coming out after the will is read series. Before that family drama kicks off, however, we meet Ryder the lawyer in charge of the explosive news, who also happens to be a cousin to the men involved. But that’s not all that important here, because this story is about Ryder and his secretary Addison and the red hot chemistry between them.
I was a little disappointed by this story, if I’m honest. It didn’t really catch me. Addison’s fear of the storm was understandable and yet I think I was expecting more from her story as to why she was so scared. Then there was the constant flip-flopping of feelings from both characters. Considering how short a time they spend together in that cupboard an awful lot goes on, both mentally and physically, and it was just too much, too soon and felt too rushed for me.
As for everything that happened afterwards… meh. Ryder was a hopeless case and to be honest I just wasn’t that interested in how things turned out. Even the reading of the will felt like a bit of a letdown. As an introduction to this new series it’s okay and I’m still curious enough to want to know more, but on its own it’s just a little too rushed for me.

Note: This ARC was provided by Tule Publishing in exchange for an honest review.
Where There’s a Will is the prequel novella by authors Katherine Garbera and Eve Gaddy and sets the stage for the rest of the Whiskey River series, which I shall assume is about the sons of Boots Kelly, Trey and Wyatt Kelly and Nicholas and Xander Blue (but, of course, I could be wrong). This was very short but sweet novella and this was a love story about two people who were already developing feelings for one another early on but never acted upon them until the Christmas party and again while the tornado hit.
Addison was a strong female lead character, one who had a difficult childhood and wanted to secure a much better future for herself as a lawyer. Ryder was a male lead character who believed in being open and honest and who definitely went after what he wanted once he set his mind to it. Their story was fun to read and showed that even the best laid plans can be changed when the right motivation comes along. Where There’s a Will has made me curious about the series and I look forward to reading it. Four stars! ♥
I was introduced to Katherine Garbera when I won an anthology of her novellas from Goodreads. The heroines were smart and capable, the storylines were more complex then your usual short story, I was glad to have been introduced to a new author and have since picked up other writings by her -- all enjoyed.
When I saw this, I thought, "Great! I can be introduced to the start of a new series!" Then I found out this is really a #0.5 and not really a #1 in a series. I thought, "Those tend to be a bit weaker in quality, maybe I'll be surprised." Then I found out the story roughly consists of 34 pages. My expectations further lowered, meaning I expected to not really get caught up in the characters. Then I noticed it's partnered story with another author. Hmmm... could be good, could be not so good.
While I am unfamiliar with Eve Gaddy's writing, the story certainly doesn't feel or read like Katherine Garbera's other books. It lacks the same tension and sophistication and seems dulled. I'll be interested to learn if fans of Eve Gaddy's thinks this collaboration is better or about the same.
I won't likely try to find and read this new series.
