The illustrations provided in the book along with the information provide readers with some of the differences between dolphins and fish. Dolphins breath air and raise their babies for a year while fish do not breathe air and lay independent eggs. This book is full of information that is easy to read and will provide a lot of knowledge to the young reader.
I like how this book describes the differences between fish and dolphins. It uses simple words that young children would understand and could read themselves. The photos it uses also show the differences between fish and dolphins. At the end of the book it gives greater detail on each dolphin pictured in the book. I would use this book to teach students about ocean life and the differences between fish and dolphins.
A Dolphin is Not a Fish/Un delfin no es un pez is a comparison book that compares dolphins to fish and gives children to observe differences in animals that live in the ocean. It is an excellent book for our preschool science center with the simple text (my copy is bilingual English/Spanish) and opens discussions about both fish and dolphins for the children.
