War Room Bible Study Book includes 5 scriptural lessons and inspiring movie clips found in the new Kendrick Brothers’ movie War Room. This short series provides a variety of heart-felt and/or humorous movie scenes and Bible study sessions that can be used in a corporate church message series or a small group Bible study setting.
Session topics include: Dealing with Spiritual Lukewarmness, Christian Accountability, Grasping Grace and the Gospel, Engaging in Spiritual Warfare, and Trusting God in Prayer.
Stephen Kendrick (born June 10, 1974) is an American film writer and producer, co-writer of the book The Love Dare with brother Alex Kendrick, and former senior associate pastor at Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, Georgia. Stephen, Shannon and Alex Kendrick comprise Kendrick Brothers Productions.
Compelling. Challenges the amount of faith you have in God and questions how much charge of your life you allow Him to take. War Room is readable in whatever situation you find yourself in, be it depression, misery, abundance etc. Gives you a solution to all your problems: Prayer. It may sound ideal, but read through how Elizabeth and Tony implement that in their marriage and individual careers and social lives. You will fall in love with God anew!
I thoroughly enjoyed doing this Bible study with my church. It's based on the movie War Room. All the women commented on how thought-provoking the personal questions were. We had good discussions from them.
Topics include lukewarm faith, accountability, church fellowship, grace, forgiveness, and spiritual warfare.
My favorite quote was a C. S. Lewis one, from "Screwtape Letters," where a demon said, "It is funny how mortals always picture us as putting things into their minds; in reality our best work is by keeping things out."
I love this movie I had seen this movie before the book I love this movie it's amazing and my dad had told me that if you don't feed your soul the devil can mess with you in life and in your dreams the demons will make you have nightmares
An excellent Bible Study to go along with the movie, War Room. I now am keeping a prayer journal, although I don't have room for a war room in my house. Maybe someday
I loved the movie, War Room! It was a fantastic film about the power of prayer. So, when some friends and I wanted to do a Bible study about prayer, I figured anything the Kendrick brothers produced had to be good. And it was a decent study; however, it was less about prayer and more about getting your heart right with God, so you can pray effectively.
Referencing five clips from the movie (which I found out are available via YouTube online), this book is set up for five weekly sessions, each designed to take about an hour to 90 minutes for discussion. The topics are: 1) "Honest Evaluation"--to help you take your spiritual temperature; 2) "Real Accountability"--about allowing a trusted friend to speak into your life; 3) "Living the Gospel"--learning to extend the same grace and forgiveness God gave us to others; 4) "Victory Accomplished"--regarding how to submit to God and resist the devil; and 5) "Impacted by Grace"--about the transforming power of prayer in our lives and the lives of others. Along with each weekly session designed for group discussion, there are three follow-up home studies to accompany each lesson. To give a bit more instruction about the actual topic of prayer, I wrote my own supplemental study based on the Lord's Prayer and the Sermon on the Mount.
If you are looking for a book to tell you how to pray, then you may want to consider one by Dutch Sheets, Derek Prince or some other author. However, if you would like to study a book that will get your heart ready to meet the Lord and pray with a heart right toward Him, then this is a great start.
A companion piece to the movie "War Room," this book is nothing short of an eye-opener. It eloquently conveys the concept of our potency in the spiritual realm, especially for those who possess the discernment to grasp the gravity of the danger.
The book instils the vision of a united Body of Christ that will rise fearlessly, unshaken by the forces of evil, and wage a strategic spiritual battle so formidable that darkness itself quakes at the mere presence of its warriors.
If you aspire to be a part of this exceptional group of spiritual warriors, I strongly recommend getting your hands on this book. It serves as a vital reminder that our spiritual armor is impervious, for it is woven from the divine nature of Jesus himself. Just as Jesus remains unbreakable, it is we who, in moments of weakness, sometimes shed essential pieces of our spiritual armor, only to mistakenly attribute the consequences to our Savior.
I quickly grabbed this book after watching the movie War Room. This is a five week study session book. This is a group study session book but I completed the book by myself. I believe you have to see the movie to throughly understand this study but it is possible to complete this book without the study.
(3.5-4 stars) A group Bible study follow up to the powerful film, The War Room, that includes five weeks of exploring core faith topics through movie clips, quotes, discussion questions, and Bible verses. It’s worth noting this study is aimed at new believers and those exploring faith. To get the most out of it, group setting is recommended—even if only two or three people.
I thought it was well done. I love looking up scripture and answering questions about it so this fit right with that. The homework was made mostly for beginners so usually didn’t take long to finish from day to day. Our group watched the movie afterwards and loved it!
The Movie with Bonus Scenes ! This book is word for word the movie that I have watched a dozen times and loved more every time I watch. The book has scenes added that weren't in the movie but other than that it's word form of the encouraging movie !
I really liked this devotional book. Very challenging, but also reasonable. There are three lessons a week to complete, which is doable, and they aren't too long!
My church blended a seniors Sunday school class with an 30-40 something adult Sunday school class to examine the War Room video bible study, and we had great dialog and came away with a deep desire to strengthen our prayer lives. This book brought out strong points of taking an honest evaluation of your spiritual life and developing true accountability to God. The movie clips were funny and serious and helped jump start good discussion points. For our group it was very interesting to hear the point of view from younger adults, who were often still maturing in their prayer walk and faith, and the point of view of mature elders who face trials, but have the full assurance of God's love toward them. I recommend watching the full length movie in advance of the bible study to lay the groundwork for the lessons and discussion.
This study gives practical ways of battling the evil that surrounds us on a daily basis. We can go through life defeated by our circumstances, or we can take on the battle with God's help. He can handle what we cannot.
