An entertaining book. However, it feels less like a science fiction and more like a fantasy compared with the other classics of the genre in a sense that it is driven and focused mostly by an adventure side of the story rather than the science of it - the social, philosophical or technical concepts and issues. Still, it is an entertaining, captivating and easy read, even though a bit too violent sometimes for my taste. But then again, I, personally, simply prefer a different background philosophy in science fiction. Right on point for an action piece, though.
Francis Karsak's novel "The Flight of the Earth" is one of my favorite works. Classic, fundamental, powerful and quite innovative — all this is about a book by a French writer, which I happened to read now many years ago. My father recommended this work to me. Once again, I am convinced how our book interests coincide. And this advice showed me a new fantasy world, which came out from the pen of Karsak, in which several large-scale plots are successfully combined at once. "Flight of the Earth" focuses on saving our planet and Venus, which was already a colony of people, from the dangerous Sun, which will soon destroy life in the Solar system. However, the narrative is not limited to this scenario alone. Karsak, in his relatively small novel, beautifully and appropriately shows several more storylines that, if desired, could be developed into separate works. It doesn't make sense to reveal these plots. It's better to read it yourself. However, I can say with confidence that the reader will definitely appreciate this work of the French writer. And if we compare this book with some other epic novels, then "Flight of the Earth" significantly benefits from the dynamism of the narrative, in general, the presence of various plot twists and a set of global stories of the heroes of this book. Here you will find a kind of detective story, a bit of mysticism or even magic (do not forget that "any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic" — thank you Sir Arthur C. Clarke), disaster, action and a pinch of drama. Having once read this novel again, I couldn't help but think that the potential of the work is quite great and at one time could have been well painted, becoming, probably, a whole cycle of novels that would be devoted to a certain topic or time period of this large-scale story. On the other hand, I do not lose hope that one day (preferably sooner) this novel will become the basis of a big-budget series from some famous studio. The work has everything to become a high-quality primary source for a global project on streaming platforms. "The Flight of the Earth" stands out for another significant moment. Karsak focuses mainly on the adventure component, which is so unusual for science fiction classics. Maybe that's why this book reads so easily and naturally. Yes, there are general concepts of science and an explanation of the principles of operation of certain laws of nature and mechanisms created by humans. However, the focus shifts precisely to the competent narration of the whole story, where the main thing is the adventure. Anyway, "Flight of the Earth", its scale and attraction to adventure storytelling will find its reader, they have already found it. This is a notable work by Francis Karsak, who gave the world his unique world, where the threads of many storylines are competently intertwined, the intricacies of genres are skillfully presented. This is a book that you periodically want to reread. And I like to recommend it first of all from the many I have read, when someone asks me to recommend a good fantastic story to read. 10 out of 10
So many events in this book: - Aliens like drums occupied Earth - Time traveling - Earth and Venera just go away from Sol system - Lost enemy colony - War against human eating aliens - and more = 4.5/5
