Out of Place #1

Little by Little

The billionaire I work for just found me asleep in his daughter’s bed at 3 in the morning.

I’m her nanny and she had a nightmare so I crawled in next to her.

She was shaking and crying, and the only thing that calmed her down was me holding her.

I must have fallen asleep because the next thing I saw was someone standing in the doorway.

He was leaning against the frame in sweatpants, arms crossed, watching us.

His daughter was curled into me with her tiny fist gripping my shirt.

I started to get up and apologize but he shook his head and whispered,

“Don’t move, she hasn’t slept like that in weeks.”

He sat down on the edge of the bed, brushed the hair from my face, and growled,

“How do you expect me to let you leave after this?”

DNF chapter 7

I briefly considered trying to finish just to see what happens with whatever her mom and step dad have planned.

But so far this about 2 people existing in a shared space. One is the absentee father and still grieving widower. The other is the nanny he hired for his daughter with selective mutism.

Somehow other charecters in this book see what isn't there, including Saoirse's bestie even though they're only seeing each other is passing.

Two charecters existing in a shared space doesn't scream romantic tension.

Little by Little

This is a hard one for me to review. On one hand I like the characters and plot but the writing style is so choppy and disjointed. It’s also so hard for me to root for the romance when you see none of the lead up. They don’t share anything until they are supposedly already in love. It’s lacking emotions.

Meh

My actual rating is 2.5 stars. The story had a lot of potential. There wasn’t any action. It was alluded to but the violence never actually occurred. The other thing that bothered me was the wording and phraseology.

Woof. I read this whole thing, and I honestly can’t tell you what anything means or what happened because the author didn’t explain anything.

2 stars only because I finished and didn’t DNF because I was hoping I would learn literally anything but alas.

Weird to read

Not realistic conversations.. the story line isnt bad. But it's kinda ruined by the way they talk to each other. It's not realistic or not how you would talk to people you were close to.. short vague replies to each other

This book was not good. I DNF around 30% and even that was too long. The writing was jumpy and there was zero emotion. It felt like one liners going back and forth between characters.

DNF @ 38%
I just couldn’t get into it.

So I went back and finished it purely just so it’s finished. I can’t say it got much better but it’s an easy read. They get their HEA but it’s not really talked about. The epilogue should have been the last chapter and then the epilogue lets us know what here they are.
