Arc review!

"The world doesn't end when it hurts. And neither will you."

I really enjoyed this book. I thought the world and magic system was very creative and fleshed out. The characters were interesting and they each had their own personalities and it was fun getting to know them and their dynamics. I loved the banter between characters that was one of my favorite parts aside from the romance, which was great. There were a few funny moments and moments of foreshadowing that I really appreciated and overall the story kept me hooked, and it was something that I really enjoyed.
I can’t wait to see what’s next for these characters!

I just finished this and I can’t believe it’s over! It started off a little slow where we’re introduced to Kai, the Royal Ridgekeeper, tasked with bringing in any magic wielders, or Aetherborne, to the King of Elyndra, and Amalia, a barmaid at the Ash and Antlers, trading flirtatious barbs, seemingly having done so every night over the course of six months. Two Aetherborne men attack Kai and Amalia at closing time and they escape, only to realize the city is under attack by Aetherborne. Kai is already very interested in Lia and wants to escape the city with her but she won’t leave without the mysterious Anastasia. With Anastasia in tow, Kai and Lia make their way out of the city when they meet up with a fellow soldier/friend of Kai’s, Hayden. The four of them then begin Kai’s quest together to find the Olethro, which is supposed to be an object that the King wants so he can destroy all magic.

I loved the four of them together - Kai and Lia and Hayden and Ana. It was obvious from the start that Lia and Ana were hiding something and I guessed what they were hiding, just not what type. When that secret was revealed, I was surprised that Hayden stepped up, not Kai. Later, when Hayden talked about his past and his parents, that made a lot more sense, especially compared to Kai’s past and family.

The big reveal about the Olethro was crazy and I want to know how that will play out! Especially with what happened with Kai at the end and his connection with Lia - what does that mean? What exactly does the King want? Why put on such a display at the end? And Aster…that was just horrific! That gutted me. What is the King doing with the Aetherborne?!! I cannot wait for the next book! Thank you K.N. Overfield for the opportunity to read this book!

Omg wow, the ending and the last 200 pages were the most stressful I’ve been reading a book. Everything that has happened in this book was just so good. The tension, the battles, the attacks, the action, it literally had me sitting upright in my chair because I was so scared for all of the characters.

The characters first of all, I love so very much. I love Lia, Ana, Hayden, and Kai. They are such the ultimate group. Their friendship and how they are able to work together and are always there to support one another is just so sweet. Their friendship dynamic is just so great.

Kai and Lia’s relationship made my heart just melt. Here is one quote that Kai says about Lia:
“Maybe my love for her was never meant to be a gentle stream, but a restless tide: chaotic, rough-edged, forever shifting. Messy, yes, but always rising. Always growing. And as I looked at her, sitting so still, spine straight as if she carried the weight of the world, I knew I would take whatever form her love came in.” (Credits to the author).
Like isn’t that just so sweet. I loved their banter together and how they slowly began to fall for each other. It was just so adorable.

This book was also so heartbreaking, each character had such a sad backstory or a painful past, you just can’t help but feel so much for them. And even knowing they have been through so much, I hope the best in the future for all of them. I can’t wait to see how this series progresses. I truly loved my time with this book.

I absolutely LOVED The Price of Prophecy! This was one of those books that had me laughing one minute and ready to cry the next. I was completely invested in the characters and their journey across this fractured, magic-filled world.

The found family was easily my favorite part. I loved watching these characters come together and the relationships that formed between them along the way. Hayden, Ana, Kai, and Lia all found their way into my heart, but Lia was definitely my favorite. She was such an enjoyable FMC to follow. She’s strong, determined, and willing to fight for what she believes in, while still feeling incredibly human throughout everything she faces.

I also really enjoyed the romance! The reluctant allies dynamic, banter, tension, and slowly shifting feelings worked so well alongside the larger story without overshadowing the friendships and found family that made me love this book so much.

Tropes:
❦ reluctant allies to lovers
✦ found family
❦ ancient quest
✦ forbidden magic
❦ political intrigue
✦ angst & banter
❦ strong FMC
✦ prophecy
❦ magical war
✦ blurred loyalties

Thank you so much to the author for the ARC. I’m very much looking forward to continuing the Writ of Fate series and reading more of K.N. Overfield’s work!

First of all, THANK YOU to the author for allowing me to read an ARC of this book.

“But fate doesn’t just bind us. It tests us. And sometimes… it asks us to walk away.”

“The world doesn’t end when it hurts. And neither will you.”

This is a dark fantasy with romance. Reluctant allies from opposite sides of an existing war. Amalia and Kai work together in search for a prophecy whose existence is unknown.

Kai is quiet, and flirty, and gentle. He works for the king as the Ridgekeeper, and he obeys what the king commands him to. Amalia is a barsmaid. The chemistry between Kai and Amalia, and their flirting and banter is very fun to read.

Hayden? He’s my favorite. He is funny and the kind of friend you want around telling stories and drinking/eating and hanging out with at a bonfire.

Reading this book feels make me feel like I am under a warm blanket on a winter day. I really like the way the author has written her sentences, the use of words, the lyrical prologue, and how fluid it flows. This book made me giggle, anxious, and cry. (Ma’am, you know what you did. You did the thing!)

Price of Prophecy has, of course, prophecy, ancient magic, healing elixir, cinnamon and apple scented villages, tart strawberry juice, real found family. I cannot wait for the next book to come out and find out what happens next

Thank you to K.N. Overfield for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
If you love books with a strong FMC—check. Found family vibes—check. Funny banter—double check. And if enemies to lovers is your kryptonite, The Price of Prophecy is basically a two for one special in delight.
You’ll end up rooting hard for this ragtag crew as they hunt for a weapon capable of wiping out magic. It’s a brutal quest, especially since all four of them have had their lives twisted, scarred, or outright wrecked by the Aetherborne.
Hayden was a standout for me. His dynamic with Ana, Kai, and Lia adds so much texture to the story, and I’m genuinely excited to see how those relationships evolve in the next book.
My favorite quote: “I believe that the gods give us a hand and how we deal it is our choice. We can’t change what we are given, but I think we can choose how we use it.”

Wow…just, wow. I laughed, cried, and nearly threw the ebook across the floor. I was so invested in Lia, Kai, Ana, and Hayden’s journey. The backstories and associated pain are heartbreaking and real. The choices: impossible. Definitely read the trigger warnings! Nothing is overly graphic, but it’ll hit you where it hurts (in the best way). K. N. Overfeld knocked it out of the park, and I cannot wait for the next one!

Amalia is hiding out working as a barmaid at a local tavern. Kai is the Ridgekeeper working for the king she despises that drives her crazy when he visits her workplace every day. When the things she’s tried to keep hidden return, she grabs her sister, he gets his best friend, and they search for the weapon that can either save or destroy them.

There’s so much beautiful banter. The slow burn and yearning are real. They hated each other, but were drawn to one another. Forced to fight the enemy together and, with time, finding a family in the most unlikely of places. It’s a true battle within oneself. The darkness. The light. Love. Hate. Fate. So much action and adventure with sweet moments intertwined. Absolutely heartbreaking, heart-wrenching moments that brought me to tears. Finding out one’s destiny and how to move forward. You will love Lia and the other characters. A captivating read, and I’m excited for what’s to come. In fact, I wish I didn’t have to wait because it was that good. Raw, real emotions as you escape into the world of Elyndra.

Thank you K. N. Overfield for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

A prophecy from the god. A weapon against the world’s magic. A tyrannical king. Battles that’re the stuff of legend!!!!! Do you really need to hear anymore??

The Price of Prophecy delivers everything it says it will. The dual POV gives you such a deep, diverse understanding of Elyndra. The characters will leap off the page and steal your heart. Plus, the twists will have you pacing the floor.

This is a suuuuuuper slow burn, but also the beginning of a series so I know the good stuff is inbound. In a world so dark and corrupted, this love story has such a refreshing purity to it. Just go read it.

I was lucky enough to get an early copy of The Price of Prophecy, and let me just say, K. N. Overfield understood the assignment.

Amalia is such a mood. She’s this incredibly smart, fiercely capable spy trying to survive after her whole world collapses, and I was rooting for her from the beginning. But the moment Kai entered. Game over. Their forced alliance is pure perfection. The banter is sharp, but the yearning is what truly destroyed me. It is a top-tier, agonizingly slow-burn romance where every single glance and accidental brush of the hands feels like a major event. The tension is genuinely living rent-free in my mind.

This was so captivating! What a fun take on the fae/magical species fantasy romance and super interesting magic system. The unveiling of world-building and magical secrets was incredibly well-paced, and the romance between Kai and Lia (and Hayden and Ana, let me babies be happy) was delectable. I love me some yearning and boy is Kai one hell of a yearner!

I need book 2 immediately.

This is an emotional quest from enemies to lovers. There’s found family, fun banter, yearning, and a slow burn romance. There’s a weapon against magic and a prophecy too. So many twists and turns, what more could you ask for? You won’t regret picking this up

I received this book as an ARC but all thoughts in my review are my own!

I love a book where men are loyal, reassuring and steadfast. and we got THREE! & I am obsessed with powerful confident women 👏🏻 and we get TWO! Reluctant allies to lovers is low key a peak trope & I am pleased to say this one hit 💃

I am happy that this book ends on an almost (??) manageable cliffhanger but I WISH I could immediately pick up the next one.
