Margit Sandemo was a Norwegian-Swedish historical fantasy author. She has been the best-selling author in the Nordic Countries since the 1980s, when her novel series of 47 books, The Legend of the Ice People, was published. She has also written many other book series such as Häxmästaren and Legenden om Ljusets rike.

Główną bohaterką jest Belinda. Całkowicie normalna dziewczyna, ale wychowywana w cieniu swojej siostry Singe. Jak można przypuszczać - Singe jest piękna, wspaniała, inteligentna, a Belinda to wyłącznie kłopot, gęba do wyżywienia oraz naiwne dziewuszysko. Pomimo takiej olbrzymiej dysproporcji i widocznego faworyzowania jednej kosztem drugiej, Belinda jest uprzejma oraz uczynna dla siostry. Kiedy Singe zmarła, siostra wzięła pod swoje skrzydła jej córkę. Jednak los dalej nie jest dla dziewczyny łaskawy, bo musi znowu zmierzyć się ze skandalicznym traktowaniem. Tym razem rodzina męża Signe wzięła sobie Belindę na kozła ofiarnego. W takim stanie rzeczy na scenę wkracza Viljar z Ludzi Lodu.

Można powiedzieć, że uff, kolejny całkiem niezły tom za mną. Ciekawie było obserwować jak Belinda zaczyna nabierać pewności siebie oraz jak wkroczyły początki asertywności. Początkowo książka przybiera jakie lekkie zaczątki romansu, bo dziewczyna zwraca uwagę na Viljara, on wyciąga pomocną dłoń, ona to docenia i zawiązuje się sympatia. Potem jednak wkracza wątek kryminalny, który oczywiście jest poprowadzony tak sobie, ale przy tak krótkiej książce nie jest możliwe rozwinięcie skrzydeł. Tym bardziej, że ten wątek wchodzi z mocnym opóźnieniem.

De bästa böckerna av Margit Sandemo är de där jag får följa samma person genom flera böcker, även om de inte alltid är huvudpersoner. I den här boken är Heike med, precis som i alla andra böcker sedan han först dök upp för flera böcker sedan.

Huvudpersonen är Belinda. Alla tycker att hon är dum och klumpig, inte alls lika bra som sin storasyster Signe. När Signe dör får Belinda flytta till Signes man och svärmor för att ta hand om Signes lilla barn. Där blir hon behandlad som en ren idiot. En dag möter hon enstöringen Viljar av isfolket, hon blir jätterädd, för hon vet att han är galen och hans ögon är kalla av is när han ser på henne.

En spännande bok som var svår att lägga ifrån sig.

Miałam zrobić sobie dłuższą przerwę, ale nie wytrzymałam.

„Lód i ogień” jest na podstawowym poziomie bardzo podobny do jednego z początkowych tomów, czyli „Córki hycla”, bo Belinda pod pewnymi względami bardzo przypomina Hildę – poniewierana przez rodzinę i nigdy nie brana na poważnie. Z drugiej strony przez swoje niemal ślepe oddanie i bezinteresowne uczucia kojarzyła mi się mocno z Irjią z innego tomu z początku, czyli „Tęsknotą”. I nie są to złe skojarzenia, wręcz przeciwnie, bardzo polubiłam Belindę. Podobała mi się też to, że Sandemo nie boi się po raz drugi brać na tapet podobnych motywów, bo wychodzi jej to zgrabnie i bynajmniej nie wtórnie.

Całościowo „Lód i ogień” też wypada bardzo, bardzo dobrze. Nie jest to wesoły tom, zwłaszcza w końcowych fragmentach – żegnamy się z najstarszym obecnie pokoleniem Ludzi Lodu, czyli Heikem, Vingą, a także Tulą, którzy ustępują miejsca młodym. Było to bardzo emocjonalne, tym bardziej że cała trójka, a zwłaszcza Heike, byli obecni przez naprawdę wiele tomów, czy to jako główni bohaterowie, czy jako wsparcie dla innych postaci i naprawdę bardzo się z nimi zżyłam. Poza tym po końcówce widać, że chude lata czekają na Ludzi Lodu, ale to oznacza, że kolejne tomy będą pewnie bardzo ciekawe.

Belinda is a great character which earned my sympathy. For the 3/4 of the book it's a typical for the series romance with some mysteries. Later on things take a drastic turn and get rather interesting. Generally a pretty enjoyable book.

Också en ”typisk” isfolketbok. Kommer sakna Heike som kändes så trygg, undra vem som blir släktens huvudman nu? Belinda kändes som en ovanligt platt och tråkig karaktär, dessutom lite för många svaga kvinnor som behövt räddas i de senaste böckerna för min smak..

Boken innan denna var jag inte alls förtjust i och jag läste mera för att få boken läst. Denna däremot hade spännande, och nya, karaktärer som man lätt fastnade i. Det var en spännande historia, framförallt i slutet! Jag hoppa vi kommer få följa Vildar och Belinda mer i framtida böcker, det var två karaktärer som jag verkligen gillade!

Det tråkiga var att tvp karaktärer dog, sorgligt! Det var två jag verkligen gillade! :(


Denna bok passar dig som gillar Isfolket eller vill läsa en bok som har lite övernaturligt och kärlek i sig!

Ice and Fire
Belinda was always a trouble of a family. Not very bright and empty-headed girl was hidden in a shadow of older, beautiful and talented sister, Signe. When he met Viljar of Ice People, solitary and lone, for a first time she was horrified. There were rumours that he is mad and his eyes were like ice.

Damn, who are Tula's demons?? Is she really not going to come back later in the series?

Well, either way the whole Saga is absolutely fantastic, and this book is no difference. The plot reveals many new hints to the ultimate secret of the Series - Tengel the Bad. Cannot wait to grab some more of Sandemo's awesome stories :D
