I glanced up into the bar mirror, realizing I had a clear shot of a handsome guy sitting behind me. Wow…tall, wide shoulders, black hair and dark eyes, clean-shaven, his face missing the trendy line of stubble. He was studying my back, and as I watched, I caught a small smile curve his full lips as his eyes shifted, running down my exposed legs. He moved his index finger over his lips, back and forth, like a metronome keeping time. His eyes pulled away from my legs and traveled up the curve of my back again. My new dress has a large cutout, showing my spine and dipping to my waist. His glance seemed to enjoy the exposed view. He twisted in his seat, adjusting himself. I smiled…
“Something amusing you?” a deep baritone voice hissed in my ear, making me jump. I turned and there was my handsome stranger, too close. So near my face, I fell into his eyes, his irises a ring of brown around the mysterious black. His brows trimmed and dark, arched, waiting for my reply…
What the hell was the question? I was having trouble swallowing and breathing, let alone thinking of words.
He ran his large, warm hand down my back, then inside the slit of my dress and I shivered…
“I’ve been wanting to do that since you came in,” he said, grinning into my surprised face…
“I’m Jackie,” I announced, not that he asked.
“I’m Jax,” he replied.
Before I can think of anything else to say, Jax wrapped his fist into my long blonde hair and tugged.
“I like your hair. It’s just the right length,” he growled.
“For what?” I asked, trying to puzzle out his meaning.
“Holding on to,” he replied, moving his thumb around a curl.
Characters from MISSING, A Dempsey Brother’s Story continue on in the book. Friends Ryan, Chad, and Jax meet a new woman, Jackie. Her friends Grace and Kathy are introduced and all will play parts in book three. A little dominance, romance, love, sex, and just a touch of mafia are sprinkled into the twists and turns of this novel. No cliffhangers, DECEIT, Jackie & Jax is a standalone full length romance.

Jackie and Jax.
Although this is the second book in the Ace's High series, Deceit, can still be read as a standalone. Jackie is a beautiful, independent, wealthy, happy, strong 22yr old woman, where as Jax is 30, arrogant and a man-slut. In all honesty all the men in this book (and a billionaire's been thrown in too), are horrible, deceitful, disrespectful to the wedding vows, and even more so to women. I felt little chemistry between the leads, and for being portrayed as an intelligent young woman, i couldn't fathom the bizarre, incredulous storyline. It was written in four characters POV but mainly the two leads and finished at 84% to excerpts from book 1and 2. Considering I really liked the first book, i was disappointed with this one.
