An Informative Book
I found it valuable that the author explains in simple terms how small problems in IT management can lead to significant losses without many organizations even noticing. In addition, he presents a structured method accompanied by examples, case studies, and recommendations that make it easier to understand how to implement effective changes. I also appreciated that the content is geared toward solving real-world problems and includes useful resources for assessing a company’s situation and establishing an improvement plan. In short, it is an informative, well-organized book with suggestions that can add value to any organization interested in making technology contribute more efficiently to the achievement of its goals. This makes it a useful read for both executives and IT professionals.

Just about every decent-sized company needs a functioning IT department if they are going to be competitive within their niche. Problems can arise when there are hidden costs of IT that top executives don’t realize are there. If these costs are large enough, a company can start hemorrhaging money without ever knowing why.
This book teaches CEOs, company owners, and similar industry heads what to watch out for and explains how they can streamline their IT needs. It features a diagnostic model that any company can apply to itself to see whether there’s any waste coming out of the IT department. What’s perhaps best about this book is that it’s written in easy-to-understand language, so you don’t need to be an IT expert to comprehend what is being said.

I thought this book would be much drier than it actually was. This read made me think about how often issues come from communication, unclear priorities, or disconnected processes rather than the software itself.
The writing is easy to follow, even when discussing topics that could have become overly technical. I liked that the author chose not to use jargon all the time to simplify it.
If you work closely with IT or business operations, there's plenty here to reflect on. I finished this read with many ideas in mind.

Good ideas
I liked that this book is not just about technology and, in fact, it's more about leadership and decision making.
The author gets to the point and offers a structured way to think about the problems and, more importantly, how to address them.
The writing is clear and this makes it easy to stay engaged even in the more technical sections. I think this book provides plenty of useful ideas that are worth considering long after you've finished reading.
