Feretti Syndicate #14

Luca: A Dark Mafia Arranged Marriage Single Mom Romance

I stole a dangerous man's car. He decided to keep me.
I'm a widow with a four-year-old, forty-one dollars, and nowhere left to run.
My husband is dead. The debts he hid from me are not.

The men who want their money found my work. My home. My face.

My daughter is next.

So I did the only thing left — I took the first unlocked car in the lot, and I drove.

It belonged to Luca.

A Sartori man. Cold. Quiet. The kind of man I've spent my whole life crossing the street to avoid.

He should have taken his keys and let me disappear.

Instead, he took us home.

Now I'm hidden inside a killer's world, with a new name and a man who watches me like I'm the first thing he's wanted in years.

He doesn't make promises.

He makes breakfast. He buys my daughter a bear. He tells me the truth when no one else will.

And every day under his protection, the safest place in my world becomes the most dangerous thing for my heart.

He swears he's been dead inside for six years.

I'm not supposed to be the one who brings him back.

"If you try to leave, I'll chase you. I'll bring you back."

Luca s the eighth book in the Sartori Syndicate series. Each book features a different couple and can be read as a standalone.

Gemma with her 4 year old Nina in on the run as her late husband left some debts to the wrong people. Until she steals Luca's car and when he finds her he decides not to let go.
Sherry Blake's books are like the old wine. As time passes her stories become better and better. I inhaled this story in just two days amidst work, kids and house chores. Well, house chores are piled up but you know how it goes.
I LOVED this book! I loved how unhinged Luca is but so soft for Gemma and Nina. Even though he claims to be dead inside for the last 6 years when it comes to them he's just so careful.
Gemma, despite all the past misadventures, tries to understand Luca and for the first time in her life she feels safe with him even though he looks exactly like the bad guys who's chasing her.
The story got quite emotional and I have to confess that there were maybe some tears running down. My heart fell for Luca and his grief that consumed him for the last six years. Sweet Gemma made the wrong decisions and that cost her a lot of things and almost hers and her daughter's life.
Nina is the sweetest kid, wary as a kid would be in that position, perceptive of people and her surroundings but when she sees the good, she doesn't let go.
I loved how their relationship expanded. It could be categorized as insta love but it's more than that as it has the emotional depth to feel their connection and root for them. And the moment of the betrayal? It was devastating both for them and me. But then my heart was stitched and my soul rejoiced.
I received this arc and this is my honest opinion

🌶️🌶️🌶️

I liked that it was not insta-love. They both took their time to tame each other.

However, it would have been far more better without the dead ex trope…
Luca was in love before with Elena, who was pregnant and died in a fire.
Therefore, everything he does with Gemma has Elena’s ghost there for comparison or as a reminder.

Luca would think about Elena during every moment that should have defined his relationship with Gemma (on the roof, when Gemma leaves…)
For this reason, like every time with this trope, Gemma feels like second best. Luca even told her she was his second life, and that losing her would have been the second-worst day of his life…

She was basically a burden Luca had to deal with. They were both lonely, and their relationship felt forced. I just didn’t buy it. There was no real communication between them. Luca would only learn something about Gemma when other people told him. But their chemistry in bed was great.

I still like this series and will keep reading some of the books.

I received an advance reader copy of this book.

I’ve read every books in the Feretti/Sartori series, and Luca is easily one of my favorites.

I absolutely loved this story. The FMC completely stole my heart. I really connected with her past/trauma and the way she slowly healed and grew throughout the book. Watching her find herself was genuinely bittersweet.

And then there’s Luca. This man had enough trauma and baggage to fill several books all by himself! What I especially loved was that falling in love with the FMC didn’t suddenly give him a personality transplant. He didn’t wake up one morning like, “I have a woman now, guess I’m emotionally well-adjusted!” He still had his issues, his walls, and his demons, and I really appreciated that. Their relationship felt like two damaged people slowly figuring out how to heal together, rather than one person magically fixing the other.

And Luca’s relationship with her daughter was just dang precious. There was one particular scene between them that absolutely wrecked me. I was sitting there reading with actual tears in my eyes.

Obviously, I was not thrilled about Luca’s mistakes. But I really loved his apology and, more importantly, the way he explained exactly how he was going to make things right. It felt meaningful rather than just “I’m sorry, baby” followed by everyone conveniently forgetting what happened.

And somehow… I actually enjoyed the slow burn. I usually REALLY struggle with slow burns… but it worked so well here. They both had so much crap to unpack that the slower pace felt necessary and natural. Nothing felt rushed, and the pacing throughout the entire book was fantastic.

Also, the spice? Delicious. 🔥
The amount of dirty talk in this book was perfect for Luca’s character. It fit him, it fit their relationship, and I never felt like anything was missing.

I flew through this book in two days. Every time I thought, “Okay, just one more chapter,” suddenly it was an unreasonable hour and I was still reading.

After making my way through all of the Feretti and Sartori books, Luca has definitely earned a spot among my favorites. I loved the characters, the emotional growth, the relationship, the pacing, the spice, and the fact that underneath all the mafia chaos, this was ultimately a story about two deeply wounded people learning how to trust, love, and heal.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ LUCA — 5 FREAKING STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Okay Sherry… WHAT DID YOU PUT IN THIS BOOK?! 😂🔥

Luca and Gemma were absolutely AMAZING TOGETHER!!! I literally couldn't put this book down!!! I got the copy at 6am and stayed up until 2am reading it after working a 12 hr shift too! It was AMAZING!!! Gemma stole my heart with how hard she had to work with everything in her life and past trauma, watching her find herself again, and the growth throughout the whole book.

And Luca? Good lord. This man has enough baggage to fill an airport. 😂 What I loved most was that falling in love didn't magically "fix" him. He was still Luca—damaged, stubborn, guarded, and fighting his own demons. They didn't save each other; they slowly learned how to heal WITH each other, and I loved that so much.

Did Luca piss me off? ABSOLUTELY. 😂 But his apology and the way he actually took responsibility and explained how he was going to make things right? THAT is how you grovel, sir.

But Luca with her daughter?! 😭 STOP IT. One particular scene between those two absolutely wrecked me. Actual tears.

THE SPICE.... 🔥🥵

Luca's dirty mouth deserves its own five-star review. That's all I'm saying. 😂

Luca officially has a spot among my favorite Sherry Blake men—and considering the competition in this series, THAT is saying something. 😂🔥🖤

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ FIVE FREAKING STARS. I LOVED IT.

Sherry Blake. This book….Luca. It was everything! How do they get better and better??? I cried actual tears on at least two separate parts of this book.
Luca is…… complicated but an amazing man and the pain he carries…..
Gemma is an incredibly strong woman who doesn’t realise her own strength.
And Nina, well. Defo the FMC!!
Their story is amazing to read and it started from a set of stolen car keys……
Thank you again Sherry!

U need to read this book sherry have the ability to make u feel her characters i devour this book like i do with all of hers
This book was easy to read plot twists surprises it keeps the line and the style is a mafia romance not too dark but not too sweet is the perfect combination if u like twisted romance but with a sweet ending thats the best i fan describe luca and all of sherry books
Thank you for letting me arc i enjoyed so much Luca is fighting position with Lorenzo that is my favorite book of all of the sartori family i wish you write a novella or something with a full update on all of this family 😅😅

Luca
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We know luca a little bit on valentino simple make the job done and loyal but luca carries a burden a guilt he is not just muscle and bullets . He is the type on men that is going to do his job and good he will mean it. I dont want to elaborate much so i dont spoil but he is worth the read

Gemma
Gemma single mom and making everything she can to keep her daughter safe and happy i relate to gemma a lot on this
No drama no spoiled princess vibe just a mom surviving i like it because their relationship didn’t start because they have too again i dont want to spoiled nothing u simply need to go read this book

I love how this books can be standalone but if u read the firsts one u can feel the connection in the story

5⭐️ 3🌶️ ARC REVIEW: 📖 Luca 📖 by Sherry Blake✨

🖤Morally gray MMC
🖤”Mine” energy
🖤Forced proximity
🖤Protective obsession
🖤Found family
🖤Touch her and ☠️ vibes
🖤Age gap
🖤Arranged marriage

"If I kiss you the way I x want to, you'll be begging me for more in front of two hundred people."

“he never once asked me to be smaller than I am.”

“He is, objectively, the best-looking man I have ever been under.”

This is book of the Sartori syndicate series. I started this series with Valentino but didn’t feel like I was missing key info. I do want to read this rest of the because they are so good.
I knew I would love Lucas story because of the glimpses of him in Valentinos but this seriously exceeded my expectations. I laughed and a cried at a couple parts.
Both the FMC and MMC have had horrible things happen to them that shaped them into the people they are. Luca became a human weapon without feelings just working without thought. Gemma was running from ghost of the past without names. Their relationship started in a twist of fate but felt so right. They were the perfect thing the other needed to be whole. Luca may be morally gray but he would do anything for Gemma and Nina. The moments with Nina and Luca were precious. Luca and Gemma together was 🔥 and the spice was hot and dirty. The mouth on that man. I loved this book even the backstory with the Orsini family. I just really did not like the ending. It was not the closure I wanted and needed.

Thank you Sherry for the opportunity to read this arc.

I received an ARC from the author. Thank you!

This is the fourth book I’ve received from the author from this series and I’m so grateful for that because I LOVE this series. I’ve been hooked since the first book and gotten more and more invested into this family as time has gone along. I tend to like my MMC’s to have some softness to them towards the FMC. Yes even mafia men. But Luca wasn’t all that soft. I know his past left him scarred in a way that probably took that softness from him. But while you may not hear it in declarations of love, you see it in the actions of how he looks after Gemma & Nina.
I’ve always loved the found family in this series and loved seeing past characters like Bruno, Vittoria and Antonella.
Something that stood out to me (and this may just be me) was that this story felt more stoic than the others. Even little Nina seemed stronger than a 4 year old should be but when you know the backstory, you understand why each character came across the way they did. I’m so glad Luca got his happy ending after all he’s been through. Who knew I’d cry at the end regarding Cesare?
Once again, I’m so invested in this series and this world and I keep thinking about how much it’s gonna suck when it’s all over. I’m so ready for Ava’s story!

Luca by Sherry Blake

Yet another great read in the Sartori family series from Sherry Blake!

Sherry’s writing flows effortlessly, making this a quick, engaging and emotional read. I absolutely loved the MCs, Gemma and Luca, and it was lovely watching their love grow despite the individual trauma they both carry.

Gemma is a survivor, and watching her grow in confidence throughout the book and slowly take back control of her life was so heartwarming. Her journey was beautifully written, and I really loved seeing her find her strength again.

Luca was such a sad, broken man, carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders. Watching Gemma bring light, happiness and hope back into his life was just so good.

I also loved watching Luca’s connection with Nina, Gemma’s daughter, develop throughout the story. Those moments added another lovely layer to their relationship and made Luca even more endearing.

I really do love the Sartori family books. It’s always so nice getting little glimpses of the family throughout each book and seeing how everyone is doing.

As always, I really enjoyed this ARC. Thank you, Sherry, for another fantastic read!

This is my honest review.

I received an ARC from the writer,
Thanks a lot Sherry..

Luka survived a great tragedy, and managed to get out of that hell by becoming a robot, no feelings, work, sleep, repeat..
Who has read the previous book, knows that he has been wounded and barely survived, he rests on orders. And then his routine is interrupted by a woman with a little girl who steals his car.

The woman is Gemma, who is trying to save her little girl and herself from an unknown enemy. She buried her husband 18 months ago, and now she does everything she can to avoid the people to whom he remained indebted.

A man who's has lost everything by his mistake, has a chance to redeem himself by rescue two innocent souls.
A woman who was humble and obedient has the opportunity to show her strength next to a real man.
I really liked Luke's relationship with Nina, how despite his past, he managed to establish a relationship with her.

The book was a little shorter for me, as if Sherry had sped up the end a bit.
I was expecting a little more mafia action.
If you haven't read the previous books in the series, a great recommendation from me.
And Bruno is still my favorite 🖤🔥..

Luca and Gemma (and Nina too) are what happens when a bunch of damage gets put together and somehow fix each other.

As always, Sherry Blake KNOWS how to write badass women who just happen to be down on their luck. Gemma felt real. If we haven't BEEN her, then we definitely know someone who has/is. On the surface level, she's a single mom to 4 year old Nina, she's working her tail off just trying to get through the day, making friends and connections where she can to figure out her next steps. Past the surface level, she is hiding from some dangerous men for things she barely understands and doesn't have anything to do with.

I saw this in another review but absolutely, fully agree (and probably couldn't word it any better) that what made Luca stand out the most is that yes, he falls in love with Gemma relatively quickly, but he doesn't immediately get an entire personality transplant. He does not suddenly become a useless, lovesick fool (as we've seen in other books for sure). Luca maintains his stoic, silent, broody, grumpy, quiet, and hard self throughout the vast majority of his story. He only softens the smallest fraction with Nina and that's simply because I think his brain shuts down, self-destructs, and buffers all at the same time around her due to his own hidden trauma.

ARC reader and all that. Definitely recommend.

I received an eARC of this book.

Just like the other 13 books I couldn't put this book down.

This is #14 in the Feretti Syndicate series. It is about Luca and Gemma. Gemma's abusive and snake if a husband died 18 months ago. But Gemma had no clue he owed a lot of bad people a lot of money. One night she was at work and her 4 year old daughter Nina was sitting at an empty booth while Gemma worked. There was a guy sitting outside the diner watching Gemma. So she went and told Nina they were leaving and they went out the back door if the diner.

Luca was inside a local Walgreens and he left his car unlocked and running and Gemma got in a stole it. Her and Nina went to a scrappy motel for the night and Luca ended up finding them. He asked her for his keys and she tossed them to him. Just in time for a guy from her husband's past puts a gun to Lucas head.....

I can't wait for the next book

Sherry Blake did it again!! This book was so so good and completely unputdownable! I devoured this one!

Definitely another 5 star read from Sherry!

And Luca!! What a MMC! Fighting his own demons and carrying a pain no one should have to do! I love that he was kind and showed affection and love towards both Gemma and her kid Nina. The pancake scene will forever live rent free in my head. It was absolutely adorable!

And Gemma such an amazing strong FMC! Such an incredible mom and the strength she has is admirable. She also has her share of pain to carry around but was always strong in front of Nina ❤️

I have to admit I was definitely shedding a few tears along the way reading this book!!

The pace was perfect! I love the story!! And I loved that it was more plot than spice in this book. The story was more than enough to keep you captived! The writing was flawless and the ending was perfect!

Luca (40) & Gemma (28).

She steals his car while running away from some bad people and the rest is history.

I loved this book! Definitely one of my favourites of this series! It’s fast paced and kept my interest from the beginning till the end. It’s sort of a slow burn if you consider that their get together doesn’t happen immediately but as the story progresses, even if it’s in the span of a few days. It felt really smooth.

The MCs are really cool and I wish we got some more details about how Gemma got herself in the pit and couldn’t leave. Luca is hurt but gentle and so caring. The book is emotional and a little angsty and the little girl so adorable. I felt connected with all of them.

I only wish we got a slightly longer ending, it felt just a bit abrupt. But it was quite promising regarding the next instalment 😉

-Dual 1st person POV
-Spice: 🌶️🌶️.5

Overall: 4.5/5 ⭐️ for me.

I received an Adv. Readers version of this book and I have given this honest and voluntary review.

Another great read by Sherry! Every book of hers is amazing. And she releases them quickly. The MCs Luca and Gemma were meant for each other. Their relationship didn’t feel forced (even thought it is a forced marriage lol). They had amazing chemistry and complimented each other well. I love Luca and Nina’s relationship. She showed him love and acceptance. Luca is a guarded strong MMC so he needed someone who would love him and show him it’s safe to be vulnerable. The spice was amazing! It was the perfect amount. Some points of the book i was like please give me more lol The plot was easy to follow. There were little bread crumbs for Liam’s book.

You can read this book as a standalone. However, i don’t really recommend you do because there are spoilers from the previous book and you’ll understand the characters more. ANDDD the series has been amazing so it def won’t disappoint for you to binge read the series! 🖤

This is book 14 in the Feretti Syndicate series and I couldn’t put it down. Gemma, a single mom to a precocious four year old, is just trying to survive after her husband died nearly 18 months ago. Turns out he kept a lot of secrets, and those secrets are proving dangerous.
Luca, has worked for the Sartori family for a very long time, he’s loyal, keeps to himself and cannot turn his back on a woman and her daughter in trouble, much to the distress of Bruno, Don of the Sartori Family.
In the wake of bodies and bullets, there’s some interesting plot twists that have Luca and Gemma meeting at the altar. Their relationship transcends one touch at a time until it ignites. Sherry, as usual has written an emotional and entertaining story that keeps you engaged until the end. Thanks to the author for the opportunity to read and review her work as a member of her ARC team.

Another amazing book!

Luca and Gemma’s story was emotional, fast-paced, and, I would say, surprisingly mature. I really loved both of them as main characters and especially enjoyed their dynamic and the way their relationship developed throughout the story.

And then there was Nina… such a little sweetheart! Only four years old, but sometimes acting and talking like a tiny grown-up 😂 She was absolutely adorable and added so much warmth to the story. I loved every scene with her.

Overall, this was another book that kept me completely invested from beginning to end. Emotional, engaging, and full of characters I genuinely enjoyed spending time with.

And once again, I’m going to end my review with the exact same words: I can’t wait for the next book! And judging by what we’ve seen so far, I have a feeling it’s going to be really, really good 👀

Sherry did it again. This book is outstanding and I highly recommend it.

Luca and Gemma have a relationship that you just want more of. The star of the show when she is on the pages is Nina, Gemma's daughter. How she attaches to Luca should make Gemma know that he really is her guy. I love the spice level (how can there ever be enough) and you can not beat Sherry's writing style.

This is the book you start when you have the time to read as you won't want to put this book down. I read this book in a day and I loved it so much I want to read it again. I love seeing the other characters show up from prior books. Especially Bruno in his role as the head of the family. I absolutely want more and can't wait to see if Luca and Gemma show up in Ava's story.

We need to read AVA!!! Let's go Sherry!

This is the 14th book in this phenomenal series, and this is Luca and Gemma’s story.
Gemma is a single mom to her 4-years only little girl Nina, after being widowed, but she has been left with her husbands’ debts, and bad men are on her trail, leaving her no option, and she steals a dangerous man’s car. Luca catches her and takes Gemma dn Nina into his home.
This is a well written action packed, easy to read, fast paced, emotionally charged story, with found family, friendships, secrets, lies, betrayal, an arranged marriage, grumpy / sunshine, opposites attract, forced proximity, touch her and die, twists and turns, morally grey, romance, undeniable chemistry, and love, which leads to an entertaining, and unpredictable, addictive page turner.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

Redemption and second chance love

This story fills in more pieces of the Sartori family history. Luca is a made man who has been through so much! He’s built on pain. Gemma is a young widow with a four year old, who is constantly looking over her shoulder. Her dead husband owes money to the wrong people. They scare her into running, she steals a car. Not just any car. Luca’s car. He finds her and ends up saving her from someone who wants to hurt her. He takes her home because…why not. Then the truth starts coming out about who Gemma really is. He steps up and marries her to keep her safe, and for the betterment of the family. But Gemma is still being watched by multiple people. The news comes out that Gemma is more than meets the eye. Now Luca has to decide where their relationship goes. Because he is not ready to give up his second chance at love! ❤️

5 STARS for Luca by ( new for me ) author Sherry Blake ! How have I not read this author ? I will definitely be jumping in to this Sartoni Syndicate series.

The cover is a great visual of Luca - cold , ruthless but not for her. Also , the book blurb definitely got my attention

This story starts with a set of keys and a stolen car but boy what a wild ride you will find yourself on !

I love that the author wrote such a strong FMC tried and tested in the love department but not willing to give up on it add one little adorable daughter in Nina and they will just make your heart happy !

There is nothing so satisfying in a read when these morally grey men will do anything to protect the women they come to love ! Luca and Gemma’s story is perfection !

I received an ARC from the author and this is my honest review !

Luca was everything!!! Thank you Sherry Blake for the arc opportunity!! This story was so good, Luca oh my poor Luca has been through it and he had my heart from the very beginning. He meets Gemma bc she stole his car, having a tracker on it he finds her at a motel with her young daughter and goes to collect his keys. He quickly realizes that she’s got more trouble on her hands than being caught by him and he decides he’s going to protect her and her child. And from there folks you must read on, Sherry Blake wrote these characters so good, the story kept me entertained. These Sartori boys are something else, I hope this saga never ends!!! It was a bit of a slow burn for me but I was here for it ❤️

Another Sherry Blake masterpiece. I love this author!!! She writes mafia romance that is addicting. She does it by introducing characters that intricately weave into a mafia family so well that it’s hard to tell where one book ends and another one begins. Luca and Gemma are two broken characters who come together in a dramatic way. Their chemistry is palpable. Their past hurt comes through the pages. Gemma’s little girl, Nina, is so endearing. Their story has so many twists and turns but it was written so well that it was easy to keep up. We revisit past characters and events and are, once again, brought up to speed with everyone’s lives. I read this book too quickly and now wait for the next in the series. Start at the beginning of the series and enjoy! It’s worth it.

I did love Luca and Gemma’s story, and I think Nina stole the show, but once again we are left with questions and I feel like this book ended very abruptly and we leap into another story!!!!!
I feel like we have heard bits and pieces of Natalia‘s story before the Orsini have popped up before and in the last book there was an unknown POV and all of those have been yet to be answered, and there was not even a mention of the unknown POV in this book, which is very disheartening if you’re a person who has read the entire series.
I do love the individual stories. I just wish there wouldn’t be pieces left unanswered if you’re not gonna answer them in the next book, and then the last few books have ended really abruptly in my opinion.

Oh Sherry! You’ve done it again! Another couple I absolutely fell in love with and was so disappointed when their story finished. I even tried to read slower to drag out the pleasure! Ha!

Both Luca and Gemma have trauma in their past that make it hard for them to trust. I think my favorite part about this book is that even by the end of the story, they still don’t trust people and they still carry their trauma, but they do fall in love and trust each other. And Nina? I lived for her laughs. ♥️

Pretty sure I’m adding pancakes to my dinner menu this week.

Also, I can’t wait for the next book. Oh - I also can’t wait for Vico’s story. I know it’s coming eventually!

Meet Gemma and Luca. She’s trying to keep herself and her daughter safe. He was at the right place at the right time- and she stole his car! I love how protective Luca is and how his sense of duty just keeps him from living. His anguish over his past is palpable. Gemma not knowing what was going on in her life until it was too late and being ashamed that people would judge her..so realistic. Then there is Nina and the pancake scene *sigh* !What a fantastic story, I was hooked from the first line. I just love this author and how she writes with a strong sense of family and belonging with the morally gray mafia world. Spice for me was 🌶️🌶️ and stars are 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I got so attached to these characters. The FMC’s journey pulled me in, and Luca kept me invested even when he frustrated me. I loved that their romance started with a stolen car. It was such an original idea!

His bond with Gemma's daughter Nina was my favorite part. I don't cry easily but a specific scene between them had me in tears. Those moments hit harder than I expected.

The slow burn made the payoff worth it, and the spice certainly didn’t disappoint. 🔥 I finished this one feeling emotionally wrung out and very glad I’d read it. This is another fantastic book by Sherry Blake!

Another great book by Sherry Blake.

I just love the way Sherry writes. Her books are always so captivating and Luca was no different. You're drawn in almost instantly and you can't put the book down.

The chemistry between Luca and Gemma is so good, and the tension! He's a typical grumpy mafia man, who won't allow himself to open up to anyone, but Gemma wiggles her way into his heart. I loved their story and how he eventually opened up to her with his fears and why he is the way he is.

If you love a closed off mafia man who will do anything to keep his people safe, then you'll love this one!

ARC Review, thx Sherry Blake

*Luca* is the next book in the Sartori Syndicate series, and it is another wonderful success. I love the entire Sartori family.
This book deals with family secrets, trust, and betrayal—though the betrayal doesn't involve the relationship between the two protagonists.
I’m not usually a huge fan of the single-parent trope, but here it just works perfectly. Little Nina brings a lot of humor to the story.
I really enjoyed reading it, while also appreciating the quieter, emotional moments.

Luca is a powerful story about Gemma and her daughter, Nina, who need Luca's help and protection. Luca is an exciting story of two people finding love in hard, dark times. Luca and Gemma make a great couple from the start. All of Sherry Blake's Sartori Mafia men stories are hard to set down. This book does NOT disappoint. Luca will have you sitting on the edge of your seat.
