Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and with these portraits, Howard Bjornson has uncovered the natural beauty that persists right in our own backyards. Sixty-four stunning photographic portraits of common dandelion, evening primrose, sunflower, and many other "unwanted" plants herald the grace and loveliness of nature's most resilient, free-spirited creatures. Accompanied by both their common and Latin names, as well as inspirational quotes on rich vellum pages, these sumptuous photos are the perfect gift for the gardener who has everything.
Wonderful photos that show that weeds, too, have beauty if we but give them a chance. I really liked the thin paper pages with the quotes on them. The fact that there were no page numbers in the book made the 'index' less helpful. I understand why there were no page numbers though - so they didn't take away from the photos. I do macro photography myself, so I probably wouldn't buy it again. However, if you are a Nature lover, but aren't a photographer, you will love this book.
I had no information on what this book was when I received of it. I assumed it was a book about weeds and so was both disappointed and absolutely thrilled when I openned it. Bjornson presents full page photos of parts of weeds, stems, leaves, seed pods, flowers, and creates beauty where other people scorn. He is an absolutely fabulous photographer and the colors and warmth of each photo are incredible. I can imagine hanging these beauties throughout your house. It is time everyone in this country relook at what we call weeds and cut their dependence use of herbicides!
