Lane Foster was supposed to be a potential client—nothing more than the quiet, sinfully attractive co-owner of a Montana distillery. An account big enough to put my brand-new marketing company on Denver’s radar. A simple meeting for a make-or-break pitch.

Instead, it was one night. One explosive kiss. One promise to see him again.

Then I ghosted him.

So imagine my surprise when I return home for my father’s funeral and learn Dad’s final I will inherit my childhood home. But only if I marry Lane Foster first.

Fine. I’ll marry the man. One month. One simple house sale. One emotionless divorce.

Except then he fixes up my father’s old truck without being asked. He makes space for me to work—and for my rapidly growing flock of chickens. He talks to me, touches me, makes me feel things way too much.

To make it worse, the tiny, judgmental town I ran from is welcoming me home.

I’m starting to wonder if my husband really wants a divorce. Or if I do either. What began as a whiskey proposal feels way too neat. But in my experience, that means it’s time to settle up because everything’s about to go sour.

I have absolutely loved this series & this was no different!! Laneee! The best book boyfriend & a MMC green flag. He was so patient & understanding. Emerson is our strong willed, resilient FMC & I was here for every second of their story.

The push and pull, absolute tension between these two was so good. It made for some delicious spice when it hit & had me swooning over these two!

This was a sweet- heartfelt read mixed with some emotional aspects and so much character growth! Watching Emerson handle her baggage & the challenges it brought with her opening up, just gave this so much emotional depth.

I definitely recommend this book if you love a book full of banter, chemistry, angst, & emotion!! Thank you Walker Rose & team for tthe early copy!!

Walker Rose outdid herself in the newest book of the Foster House series because I cried through half and laughed my way through the other. Marriage of convenience has to be one of my favourite tropes, and it’s such a cliche but there’s something so swoon worthy of an mmc who spends the entire length of their “marriage time” convincing her not to divorce after. Emerson was the sweetest contradiction, she’s got such a bright and funny personality but hides so much beneath. Her hilarious chicken schemes to try to drive off Lane were adorable and I loved how Lane just accepted it and loved her despite all her quirks. One line that stood out to me was “looking into glass castles” meaning always feeling like you’re looking in and being separated, instead of being apart of something. Her feelings of always being abandoned and not loved for who she was really spoke to me making her easily my favourite character. Because despite all her insecurities and everything in her life, she does everything out of love for her brother and niece. Lane Foster is also my favourite of the Foster brothers because he’s the perfect devoted mmc. The way he showed up time and time again and proved to Emerson that he was staying for good (which was a very difficult task) had me falling deeply in love with him. He’s got this saviour complex and need to take care of everyone but he’s willing to put it aside to just care for Emerson. The plot was great and very emotion focused which I loved. The ending love confession had tears swarming down my cheeks because they’re so beautiful. Walker Rose really outdid herself with this one and I give it a 5/5

Emerson is returning to the town that caused her childhood trauma . The teasing and the mom & dad that did not want her. She can get on and out in an hour . But her father has other ideas. To get her house she has to marry otherwise she will not he the house or land .

Her brother and his daughter really need this house for them. She can do anything for a few months right?
She did not count on Lane. He does sweet things and thinks of her first. But he will leave too right?

A cute story of him falling first and waiting patiently for her to catch up.

🥃 He Kept Making Room Until She Believed Him 🥃
⭐ 5 Stars | 🌶️🌶️🌶️ 3 Chili Peppers

Whiskey Proposal had me laughing over chickens one minute and getting completely emotional over Emerson the next. Marriage of convenience is already one of my favorite tropes, but give me a husband who spends the entire fake marriage basically saying, Actually, I'd really prefer if you never divorced me, and I'm done. 😂❤️ Lane and Emerson gave me humor, spice, found family, emotional healing, and a romance built around one man proving over and over again that he's staying.

Emerson Langley never planned to return to Huckleberry Springs. She left at fourteen carrying memories of being teased, feeling unwanted, and growing up with parents who made her believe she was someone people could leave behind. She's built a successful marketing company and a life in Denver, far away from the town that hurt her.

Then her father dies, and his will brings her straight back.

Emerson can inherit her childhood home and land, something she desperately wants to give her brother Brooks and his daughter, but there's one completely ridiculous condition. She has to marry Lane Foster first.

Yes, the same Lane she shared one seriously hot kiss with in Denver before promptly ghosting him. 😬😂

Their solution is supposed to be simple. Get married, stay together long enough to satisfy the terms of the will, sell the property, and divorce. Emerson is completely committed to that plan.

Lane? Not so much. 🤭

Lane Foster was everything I wanted from a he-falls-first marriage-of-convenience hero. He's quiet, devoted, hardworking, and the kind of man who shows how much he cares through what he does. He fixes up Emerson's father's old truck without being asked because he understands what it means to her. He makes room for her business and her life. He shows up when she needs him. And when Emerson starts filling his home with increasingly ridiculous chicken decor in what might be the cutest attempt ever to make a husband regret marrying you, Lane basically accepts that apparently he lives in a chicken-themed house now. 🐓😂

The chickens were HILARIOUS. Emerson's schemes and Lane's refusal to be bothered by any of them gave me some of my favorite lighter moments, especially because underneath all that silliness is this man quietly communicating, You aren't going to scare me away.

And that means everything when it comes to Emerson.

Her story really got to me. Emerson has this bright, funny personality, but she hides so much hurt underneath it. She has spent her life waiting for people to leave and never quite believing she belongs anywhere. The idea of always looking into glass castles, watching other people have the love, family, and belonging you want while feeling separated from it yourself, captured Emerson so perfectly.

She wants to believe Lane, but every experience she's had tells her that eventually he'll leave too. There were definitely moments when I wanted to reach into the book and tell her, Emerson, LOOK AT THIS MAN! 😂 But I also understood why trusting him was so difficult for her.

And Lane doesn't simply tell her she's wrong. He proves it.

Again.

And again.

And again. 🥹

I loved that distinction. Lane can't erase Emerson's childhood or magically fix her abandonment issues. What he can do is remain consistent enough that eventually she starts believing she doesn't have to stand outside looking in anymore.

The found-family side of the story made that even sweeter. Emerson returns expecting Huckleberry Springs to still be the place that rejected her, only to discover the Foster and Hennessy families, new friendships, and people ready to welcome her exactly as she is. I especially loved her relationship with her niece and how much of Emerson's decision-making comes from wanting Brooks and his daughter to have the security and home she never felt she had.

And the chemistry between Lane and Emerson? 🔥🔥🔥 Calling this an emotionless marriage was optimistic at best. 😂 Their attraction is already there before the wedding, and forced proximity certainly doesn't make it disappear.

By the time I reached the final part of their story, these two had taken me through just about every emotion. That love confession hit HARD. 🥹❤️

Whiskey Proposal was funny, emotional, spicy, romantic, and filled with so much heart. Emerson spends her life believing love and belonging are things other people get to have. Lane never demands that she believe otherwise. He simply keeps showing up, keeps choosing her, and keeps making room for every part of her until she finally realizes she doesn't have to look through the glass anymore.

She gets to belong too. ❤️

TW: past child neglect mentioned

This is my second Walker Rose book and despite not reading the previous books in this series I didn’t feel lost. This can be read as a stand alone but I do think you’d appreciate the side characters more if you read the other books!

First off… love the small town feel! Now to get into..
FMC Emerson returns to her hometown due to the easing of her father’s will.
(Backstory- she had a rough childhood, was teased and practically neglected.. her mother left them and her dad was not a great dad to her or her brother Brooks)
Emerson is shocked to learn she not only has to marry to get the house and land so she can sell it to her brother but she has to Mary Lane.. the same man who shared a recent steamy makeout sesh with.

MMC Lane Foster is absolutely the greenest green flag!!!!💚💚💚💚💚💚 aside from going along with her dad of agreeing to marry her but he felt he was protecting her. He helped her dad for years and listen to him tell stories of Emerson so he felt like he’d known for her ages.
This man!! He is so down bad for her! Like what do you mean he fixed her dad old truck just for her?? Or sends a their plane to get her after only being away 10hrs?!
I loved this man!! He is constantly showing her how much he cares and how he wants the marriage to be real.

Their chemistry was amazing! The spicy scenes were hot!! 🔥🥵🔥perfect balance of spice and plot!

Loved the chickens and the cockturé I was cracking up!

Loved the relationship between Emerson and her niece.

I also really enjoyed the found family trope with the Foster and Hennessy Crew along with the girl gang in town. Emerson really needed that with her past hurt.

My only issue for me was I felt Emerson dwelled on her past hurts and trust issues with abandonment and kept projecting that onto her and Lane’s building relationship despite Lane throughout the whole plot showing up for her. I felt like I sort of checked out with her at times. She didn’t really accept and trust Lane till the very end. I would have like to seen more growth between them maybe more dates. Again that’s just personal preference, I still really enjoyed this book.

I would recommend this to anyone who loves small town romances with an MMC who would do anything to keep his wife of convenience! Even let her put a “Give Your Cock A Rest” pillow in his bed 🐓😂

Thank you so much to The Author Agency and Author Walker Rose for the advance copy of Whiskey Proposal in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

ARC Review of Whiskey Proposal Book 4 in the Foster House Series by Walker Rose. This book is part of an interconnected series but can be read as a standalone. This book is a 5 star read for me. I love this series and loved this book. This book gave me all the feels it was so good, I couldn’t put it down. I love marriage of convenience its one of my favorite tropes and this one did not disappoint. This is a slow burn, spicy, one night kiss, marriage of convenience, strangers to lovers, he falls first, found family, cowboy/distiller mmc, marketing exec fmc, forced proximity, small town romance. This is Emerson and Lane's story. I am so excited to finally have Lane’s story I love Lane he is such a good man, he loves his family and he works hard for what he has. I love Emerson she is insecure from her past but she is also strong, stubborn, smart, and a hard worker. Both Lane and Emerson had tough childhoods and had to deal with parents who had addiction issues. My heart breaks for them and what they’ve been through but I love how they are thrown together and get there HEA. Emerson has been hurt in the past and doesn’t trust easily but I love that Lane doesn’t give up even when she pushes him away and that he slowly breaks through her walls, takes care of her, and love her like she deserves. Lane Foster is a rancher and co-owner of Foster House Gold Distillery in the small town of Huckleberry Springs, Montana. Emerson Langley has her own marketing company in Denver. She grew up in Huckleberry Springs but left when she was fourteen and hasn’t been back since. Emerson doesn’t have a good relationship with her father and hasn’t spoken to him since she left, but when he passes she has to come back to Huckleberry Springs to deal with his will. Emerson is surprised to see Lane at the will reading. Emerson and Lane met in Denver for work a month ago and shared a passionate kiss but then she ghosted him. Lane is Emerson’s dads neighbor and helped him out with his ranch over the last few years. In the will Emerson’s dad made a stipulation that for her to get the house and land she has to marry Lane, then she can sell the property and get a divorce. Staying with Lane has Emerson confronting her feelings and memories from her past. Lane has already fallen for Emerson the first time he met her and the more she’s around him it’s harder for her to deny her growing feelings. I love watching Emerson and Lane’s relationship grow and change from strangers to married to lovers. I love watching Emerson accept Huckleberry Springs as her home again and love the found family she’s found there. I love Emerson and Labe together so much and love their HEA. I definitely recommend this book.

Lane Foster wants Emerson Langley. They shared one kiss that he’s never forgotten. So he agrees to a fake marriage stipulated in her father’s will so she can inherit her father’s house and sell it to her brother so her brother and her niece can have a home in Huckleberry Springs. Emerson hates the idea of returning to her hometown even temporarily. Too many awful childhood memories. Remembering all the people who made fun of her, ignored her or flat out left her. And a fake marriage to Lane Foster? Ridiculous. No one will believe he’d marry her.

Emerson has so many insecurities. She trusts no one. She is always looking for people to let her down. Emerson will break your heart more than once. She’s just so sad. You’ll have to be patient with her because she really puts Lane thru it in this book and it is heartbreaking.

“𝘐’𝘮 𝘪𝘯 𝘏𝘶𝘤𝘬𝘭𝘦𝘣𝘦𝘳𝘳𝘺 𝘚𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴, 𝘪𝘯 𝘢 𝘮𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘪𝘢𝘨𝘦 𝘐 𝘥𝘪𝘥𝘯’𝘵 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘯 𝘰𝘳 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘨𝘶𝘺 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘣𝘭𝘶𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘵𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘧𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭.”

Emerson doesn’t believe Lane could really care about her and does everything she can to push him away. The chickens are one example. So many chicken decorations now adorne Lane’s home. As a pillow. Wall hangings. Salt and pepper shakers. This was a favorite part of the story for me. Chickens everywhere! But Lane is stubborn. He feels the heat between them. The yearning. The chemistry. It’s all there. This marriage is anything but fake to him. He falls first and hard and knows he has to wait for Emerson to catch up. He’ll indulge her in her little stunts. He’ll be patient. And he certainly has an uphill battle of convincing Emerson to trust him; to believe in him; to give them a real chance.

“𝘐 𝘮𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵’𝘷𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘢 𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘵𝘭𝘦 𝘰𝘣𝘴𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘥 𝘢𝘧𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘐 𝘴𝘢𝘸 𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘱𝘩𝘰𝘵𝘰, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘴 𝘮𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘢 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘰𝘯. 𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘺 𝘣𝘦𝘵𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘶𝘴? 𝘐𝘵 𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘴𝘯’𝘵 𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘯 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘥𝘢𝘺.”

Lane is all the green flags. He’s always helping out everyone, friends and family alike, and he even secretly fixes up Emerson’s dad’s truck for her, something that holds a few of the good memories from her childhood. Talk about swoon worthy, that would be Lane Foster.

Emerson does not make it easy for Lane but he’s persistent. He gets her. He understands her mistrust and her insecurities. Lane has been thru his own difficult childhood. If anyone can convince Emerson that she’s wanted, loved, it’s Lane Foster. And when her walls finally come down, well, she gets her well deserved HEA. As does Lane.

You’ll love this book if you want to see a very insecure, feeling unwanted, lonely woman return home and find the man who never gives up showing her she’s worthy of being loved.

⭐️⭐️⭐️️⭐️/ ️🌶️🌶️🌶️

If you have read the Foster House series by Walker Rose, I hope you have been as excited for Lane’s story as I have been. Whiskey Proposal is book 5 in this series and what a book this was. The tension and yearning are absolutely perfect throughout the entire story. Walker has given readers a guarded FMC, a total green flag MMC, a chicken obsession, and one of the best romances in this series. Throw in a good coming home storyline and you have my attention!

Emerson is coming back home to attend her father’s funeral. Having a somewhat complicated past with both her father and her hometown, she left with no desire of coming back when she was younger. Yet here she is and learning her father is still “controlling” her from the afterlife. In order to gain her inheritance she has to get married to the man stipulated by her late father. Emerson begins closed off and guarded, understandably, but slowly begins to realize maybe, just maybe, her father really did know what she needed. As she begins to fall back in love with her hometown, she realizes she is also falling for her chosen husband.

Lane has a history with Emerson’s dad, not knowing who she was when they first met. The chemistry is definitely there between them, but he understands the complicated emotions Emerson has returned with. While he may have known who she was when they first met, he didn’t disclose that, so he also doesn’t blame her for being surprised when he is named as the man she must marry. He shows up for her though in every way she needs and even ways she didn't realize she needed or wanted. Having gone through his own trauma in his life, he patiently loves her, waiting for her to finally realize he isn’t going anywhere and their relationship isn’t just a contract to him.

What ends up developing between Emerson and Lane is absolutely perfect. Heartwarming, full of passion, yet both of them provide their own emotional storylines that I couldn’t get enough of. Walker is an auto buy and must read author of mine and her stories never disappoint. Foster House has been filled with beautiful romance, deep love, and passionate emotion that truly has you falling for every character. I am excited to see what Walker will give her readers next, but whatever is, I know it will be amazing.

I’ve been so excited to hear Lane’s story and this book was incredible! Lane Foster is one of three brothers who had a rough childhood. Lane is part-owner with his brothers of Foster House Gold distillery in Huckleberry Springs, Montana. Lane also ranches and does automotive repairs in his spare time. He’s a workaholic who takes care of everyone else but not himself. He is the town’s most eligible bachelor getting close to 40.

Lane helped his elderly, alcoholic neighbor, Hutch Langley, for several years until he died in a fire at his property. Hutch had regrets for driving his children away years ago and made a shocking stipulation in his will involving Lane.

Emerson Langley left town at age 14, saved by her older brother Brooks. Their mother left and neither her mom nor her dad wanted Emerson. She was bullied by the other kids in town and was considered dirty and odd. She never wanted to come back to the town that holds so many painful memories. When the will is read, Emerson learns that Hutch’s final wish was for her to marry Lane before she can inherit his home.

Emerson agrees to do this only because she wants to sell the home to Brooks, so he has a safe place to raise her 11-year-old niece, Hillary. They want to get out of Denver where Hillary is also being bullied. Emerson has a fledgling marketing company that is struggling and she feels betrayed by Lane who didn’t reveal he knew who she was when she made a business pitch to him a few weeks ago.

Lane has secretly wanted Emerson ever since he used to talk to Hutch about her. He entered this arranged marriage wanting to make it work forever. Emerson has deep-rooted issues about being left behind and for not being enough. She does not trust Lane no matter how hard he tries to prove to her otherwise. It’s a wonderful journey seeing these two figure out they are perfect for each other!

This is book #4 in the Foster House series and it’s so fun to see appearances from the other characters in previous books. At the end of the book, Walker Rose tees up the next book in the series that will cover Brooks and Clementine’s story – Whiskey Tease!

Walker Rose really saved one of the best Foster brothers for last because Lane? Absolutely swoon-worthy.

I loved this book. The marriage of convenience, forced proximity, small-town setting, cowboy vibes, and all the family chaos made this such a fun and heartfelt read. But honestly, Lane was the highlight for me. He is the definition of a green-flag MMC. Patient, caring, protective, understanding, and completely gone for Emerson. The way he continuously showed up for her, even when she struggled to let him in, had me falling for him right along with her.

Emerson’s story brought a lot more emotional depth than I expected. She had so much hurt and insecurity from her childhood, and watching her slowly learn that she was worthy of being loved, chosen, and put first really pulled at my heart. I loved seeing her walls come down little by little and watching her relationship with Lane evolve from something that was supposed to be temporary into something neither of them wanted to walk away from.

And can we talk about the chickens? Because the chickens absolutely deserve their own review. I was not expecting them to become such a memorable part of the story, but they brought so much humor and personality to the book.

I also really loved the found-family aspect and getting to see the other characters from the series again. There is just something about this family that makes me want to stay in their little corner of the world forever.

*Whiskey Proposal* gave me everything I want in a small-town romance: chemistry, banter, emotion, spice, a swoony hero, a heroine with some healing to do, and a love story that made me smile. Lane and Emerson completely stole my heart, and I am already impatient for the next Foster story.

A huge thank you to Walker Rose for the opportunity to read this as part of your Content Team, and to The Author Agency for providing me with a copy of the ARC. I am so grateful to have been able to experience Lane and Emerson’s story early and share my honest thoughts!

What stayed with me most after finishing Whiskey Proposal was how much heart this story had. Yes, it's a marriage of convenience romance, but it's also a story about overcoming old wounds and learning to let people in.

Emerson returns to the hometown she never wanted to see again after her father's death, only to find herself caught in an unexpected condition in his will, marry Lane Foster to inherit the family ranch. What follows is a touching and emotional journey that felt both believable and rewarding.
Emerson was a character I really felt for. Having spent most of her life feeling unwanted and abandoned, she struggles to trust anyone, especially when it comes to love. Her fears and insecurities made sense, and I found myself cheering for her as she slowly began to face her past and open her heart. She isn't perfect, but that's what made her feel real.

Lane Foster was the kind of hero that's impossible not to love. He's patient, thoughtful, and always looking out for the people he cares about. Instead of grand gestures, he wins Emerson over through small, everyday acts of kindness. He never gives up on her, even when she makes it difficult, and his unwavering support made their relationship feel genuine and heartfelt.

The romance develops at a steady pace, with plenty of chemistry, banter, and emotional moments along the way. I especially enjoyed the small-town atmosphere and the strong sense of family throughout the book. The story balances heavier themes with humor and sweetness, making it an enjoyable and easy read.

Overall, Whiskey Proposal is a charming romance with lovable characters, meaningful character growth, and a relationship worth rooting for. If you enjoy stories about healing, found family, and a hero who proves his love through actions rather than words, this book is definitely worth picking up.

Thank you Walker Rose and The Author Agency for the ARC copy!!

Spice: 3🌶️
FMC: Emerson Langley
MMC: Lane Foster

Lane Foster is such a book boyfriend. He is such a sweetheart and always understanding what Emerson needed. He was patient with her while she was figuring out what she wanted and what she was feeling throughout the book.

I loved the banter between them and how Lane was head over heels for her from the start. He is slow with her because he doesn’t want her to run. He wants to build a life with her and make her happy. He knows she has stuff to get through and that she has been hurt before, but every single day, he shows her that he isn’t going anywhere.

Emerson is a strong character but a bit stubborn at times. She is really fighting her feelings, and because of this, it became a bit of a slow burn. It’s a push and pull, but then when the tension between them is finally getting too much, the fireworks burst off the pages.

It was beautiful to see how Emerson opened up and started to love the town again. The way she starts to realise that she deserves love and a beautiful home is so heartwarming. And then, with Lane by her side, it all made it even more perfect.

Thank you, Walker Rose, for giving me an opportunity to read and review their beautiful story early. I really appreciated it.

Huckleberry Springs, Montana is not a place Emerson Langley wants to return to; her memories of her hometown are filled with mixed emotions. But that is where she finds herself after her father dies, and face to face with a man that she can’t forget. Lane Foster. Emerson has a lot of feelings that she has not really addressed from her childhood and to be fair she has been let down a lot by those that were supposed to love her unconditionally.
Lane Foster is a natural care taker and thrives when he is taking care of others. Like the way he took his elderly neighbor under his wing, cared for and befriended him. I liked how he learned about Emerson through her father, and is intuitive to her. I really love how Lane was all in from the start! I mean he was obsessed with his wife- which we all love! He just knew that Emerson was the person for him. I appreciated how he pushed her a little but then backed off and let her see him. Lane is steady, consistent, patient, but most of all he sees Emerson. He sees the girl that has so much love to give but she also has to learn how to accept the love that is offered. Emerson learned from a young age that love and trust can be taken and broken in an instant. My heart really hurt for her and for the little girl that should have been shown love. As she opened her heart to not only Lane but the town of Huckleberry Springs she learned to love and trust again.
I thoroughly enjoyed this series, and I love how Clementine’s book is teased in this book and I cannot wait for what is next. If you enjoy a small town with an amazing group of strong women who support one another, men that are obsessed with their wives, some amazing cocktails with a fair amount of spice, this series and book is most definitely for you!

Whiskey Proposal by Walker Rose

"If Lane Foster puts on a cowboy hat, I might spontaneously impregnate." - Emerson

"But it'd be nice if she quit avoiding me. It's like living with a ghost that I want to f**k." - Lane

Y'all, these two are perfect for each other!!! Their banter and chemistry are amazing throughout the whole book. Both Lane and Emerson had rough childhoods. Lane has adjusted a bit better due to his family. But Emerson is kind of a hot mess in the relationship department. She expects everyone to leave. Therefore, she never lets anyone but her brother and niece close to her. When Emerson is forced back to her hometown for the reading of her estranged father's estate wishes, she discovers that her dad had a plan. A plan to bring his kids home. It involves her marrying Lane in order to inherit the house that she plans to "give" to her brother and niece. She doesn't do relationships. She won't let her heart get involved. What's a couple of months married to a man who makes her think she really could have it all?

I felt so sad for Emerson. She truly will break your heart. But Lane sees her for who she really is and is so patient with her. He teaches her what love really is. Plus, she finally finds a friend group that she can truly be herself with. There are very strong found family vibes throughout the story and a ton of humor. Not to mention the spiciness between Lane and Emerson, and really all of the couples.

This was my first time reading anything by Walker Rose, but it won't be my last. I loved every minute of this one. I received an ARC of this book, but these opinions are my own. I would like to thank the author, Walker Rose, and The Author Agency for allowing me the privilege of reading her work.

I LOVED THIS BOOK SO MUCH!! 😭❤️ Walker Rose seriously never misses, and Lane Foster completely stole my heart.

I went into this expecting a fun marriage of convenience romance, but I got so much more. The chemistry between Lane and Wren was there from the very beginning, and every chapter just made me fall more in love with them. The tension, the banter, the little moments… it was everything.

Lane is officially one of my favorite book boyfriends. He’s quiet, dependable, patient, and just SHOWS UP. The way he fixed her dad’s truck without making a big deal about it, supported her business, accepted her crazy chicken obsession, and just quietly loved her… ugh my heart couldn’t handle it. Green flags everywhere. 🥹

I also really loved Emerson. She’d been through so much and seeing her slowly open herself up again and realize she deserved love and a place to call home was so emotional. Watching her reconnect with the town she couldn’t wait to leave was such a beautiful part of the story too.

The marriage of convenience trope was done so well because it never felt forced. It was funny, emotional, sweet, and had me kicking my feet one minute and tearing up the next. I kept telling myself “just one more chapter” and suddenly I’d finished the whole book.

The Foster family is everything, and every time they’re all together I don’t want to leave. This series just keeps getting better and I already can’t wait for the next one.

If you love small-town romance, marriage of convenience, a quiet, swoony hero who falls HARD, found family, and all the cozy feelings, you NEED to read this. Absolutely adored every second of it.

This is the first read from Walker Rose and I found this story absolutely adorable.

Emerson, our FMC, has returned to her childhood home after the death of her father. She was looking to escape the memories of the past, but they come smacking her in the face when she's forced to stay there in the best interest of her brother due to their father's will. In order to achieve this, she has to be married... and her dad chose her suitor. Lane, the attractive businessman she met when she went into a marketing proposal to promote his business.

Lane has lived next door to Emerson's dad and has helped not only take care of him, but also the animals and the farmland in general. He, unfortunately, is the one who found her father when he died. He brings his own childhood trauma, but when he found his way with a new family as he grew up, he was able to work through the past and move forward with his head held high. The only thing that doesn't allow me to say he's the definition of a green flag is because of his sneaky way of meeting Emerson, knowing she'd have to marry him.

Their chemistry was off the charts, even when Emerson didn't want to admit it... the more she pushed him, showed her witty side and finally expressed herself, she was able to slowly heal and redefine her life from what it was.

I'm so excited to go back and read the other stories in this series and I look forward to more from Walker.

Oh how I LOVED this book! Confession…I’ve only read Whiskey Bargain in the Foster House series, but was introduced to Cruz and Lane in Bourbon Lullaby. After reading that book and finding out Lane was getting a book I ran so fast to sign up for this ARC!!

In Whiskey Proposal we are introduced to Lane Foster and Emerson Langley. Emerson is returning to Huckleberry Springs to go over her Fathers will and trust after he passed. She is already anxious returning to this town after experiencing some trauma and trying to escape it. When she arrives to her childhood home to meet the lawyer and her brother Brooks, she’s met with a surprise…Lane Foster! How does she know Lane Foster??? She almost had a one night stand with him the week before in Denver!

She is shocked to say the least and wants to know what he is doing at her dad’s house! Lane is his neighbor and the person that has been helping Hutch up until he died. The lawyer reviewing the will with the family makes Emerson informed Lane is a part of the will and trust. Hutch has left his house to Emerson with one stipulation…she has to marry Lane!

There have been some arranged marriage tropes that made me cringe, but this one just made me melt. Lane is the green flag MMC we all love, he is patient and kind, exactly the man Emerson needs in his life. He stops at nothing to prove to her he will not run off like she has experienced in her past, he is going to stay. Emerson is the stubborn FMC, you want to scream at her to stop and just see him, see how he’s trying to love her and give her what she wants.

While I have not read the others in the series, I’m comfortable saying this is my favorite so far.

3.5🌟

This was my first by this author and the writing style was enjoyable. She brings the characters to life and the plot flows well. It’s part of a series that can be read as stand alones but I did feel at times like I should have read the previous books first because Lane’s family plays a large role in the book and previous characters are still a big part of this story line.

I liked Lane a lot and felt like he was a strong and emotionally intelligent MMC. He was aware, patient to a fault, and understanding. He came from a traumatic background that was shared but didn’t overtake his whole personality.

Our FMC however I felt focused way too much on her trauma to the point it was getting a little tiring and I was zoning out. She had a niece, that I’m not sure if she was a neurodivergent, but she was 11 and she acted like she was a lot younger than her age. I felt like the niece and the FMC were designed to be close but at the same time their chemistry wasn’t really there. So much focus was poured into her own unhealed journey. I think I would have liked to see more character growth from her.

The plot was cute enough but unfortunately I’ve read the “dad put it in his will you have to get married to get something” a lot lately so that also could have played a part in my disconnect as I am a mood reader. If you haven’t read that trope in a while though and enjoy small town romances I think you could still really enjoy this story as the writing was still well done and the little moments that Lane provides are so sweet.

I appreciate the opportunity to read this arc!

Lane and Emerson - I’ve been waiting for his story ever since we first met him way back in the Bourbon Canyon series!

Lane is a quiet, steady man who has spent his whole life being responsible, strong and reliable for everyone else, and marrying Emerson is just another thing he thinks he has to do to help.

But the moment he meets Emerson, he knows this is exactly what he was meant to do. He is instantly smitten and moves heaven and earth to make sure she’s looked after, cared for and cherished!!

Emerson has worked hard to make sure she’s not the girl who had to leave the town she loved so much when she was younger. She keeps a mask firmly in place, determined that no one will see how she really feels.

But Lane sees straight through that mask, and slowly but surely, they begin to open up to each other. Emerson is not easy to get to and she has put up so many walls. Even when she lets one down for a moment, it’s back up in the blink of an eye.

I loved that Lane never gave up on her. He gave Emerson the space she needed, but stayed close enough for her to know he was there and that she could rely on him. He never tried to force his way through those walls; he simply kept showing up and showing Emerson that she didn’t have to face everything alone.

And watching Emerson slowly learn to trust him and finally allow herself to be loved was just beautiful. Lane and Emerson’s story was absolutely worth the wait.

Thank you to the author & team for allowing me read this arc - grateful, as always💕

Whiskey Proposal is book 4 in the Foster House series. These Foster brothers... are everything!!! They are all such green flags.
This is Emerson and Lane's story with a marriage of convenience plot. Emerson is attending her father's will reading and is shocked to see that Lane is in attendance. She learns that he lives next door and used to help her father out with the ranch. What she also learns is that there is a stipulation in the will that in order to get the property her father has left her, she has to marry. Lane agrees to marry her for her to gain access to the property, and the she will sell it and they will divorce. But during their little marriage of convenience, a bond begins to form between them. They both find comfort in sharing a traumatic past with both of them having a parent that struggled with addiction.
This whole series has been amazing. I think the characters are so well developed and detailed. They're mature and feel like realistic real life people you could possibly know. I also love when characters from previous books pop up here and there. I get so excited because I've read all of the books and know all of their stories. The chemistry between Lane and Emerson is amazing and I am so happy to finally have Lane's story. It was well deserved because he is a great guy and I think Lane is perfect for him.
This is a really great series. I highly recommend giving it a read. They're all standalone so you don't have to read them in order. But they are definitely worth a read.

3.5 ⭐️ Emerson’s father has passed away, and in order to inherit her house she has to marry Lane Foster. Emerson was estranged from her father, and had a rough childhood. The marriage for Lane is real though and he sets out to prove it to Emerson.

The book was decent, but I’ll admit I spent a good portion of it annoyed with Emerson. I honestly don’t know if that’s fair of me since she definitely had trauma from her childhood. She let that influence everything she did in her life, yet she never sought professional help. So much of Emerson’s thoughts were negative and worrying about people not liking her. It got a bit repetitive and frustrating at times. I also felt Lane could have been more forward in telling Emerson he liked her rather than just assume she could tell by his actions.

We really didn’t get a lot of relationship development between Emerson and Lane. It was more that Lane already had feelings, and Emerson doubting them the whole time. What I did like was the end of the book and what could have turned into an assumption on Lane’s part thus leading to a breakup, didn’t end up happening. They actually talked it out and I love when that happens.

I’ve read all the other books in the series so far, and I feel the earlier ones were better. I want to thank The Author Agency for the copy of this book, I voluntarily chose to leave a review.

I just love this series. Lane was just a dream come true. He fell for Emerson before he even met her and when he met her he wanted her forever. Her father, Lane’s neighbor, writes a will in which he wants Emerson to return to the ranch, he wants her to marry so Lane asks that he be the groom, there is no way he wants some loser marrying her and it would give them the opportunity to learn more about each other, he knows she feels their spark after their first meeting and he can convince her to stay married.

Emerson is not thrilled about returning to the ranch, it holds some good memories but also a lot of bad ones that she can’t get past that have caused self doubt and trust issues. Lane has his work cut out for him.

It was a fun book as he tries to win her and she finds ways to push him to his limits but he rolls with them. Add in his family and friends, a cranky brother in law and an adorable animal loving niece, it’s a fun journey.

What is not to love about Lane! He was patient, understanding, loving, fun, sensitive and incredibly sexy. Emerson was adorable, even though sometimes I wanted to scream at her, but given her past you understand how hard it was to trust everyone around her. It was a journey in which you cheered her on when she had her breakthroughs.

I highly recommend this book and am grateful for the opportunity to read it. Thank you Walker Rose and The Author Agency. I can’t wait for Clem and Brooks next!

- Small town romance
- Marriage of convenience
- Close proximity
- He falls first
- Coming home

Oh, my heart! Lane is the sweetest of the Foster group, in my opinion, and I was so happy to finally get his story!

Emerson is the character who I think grew the most, possibly in the series. She is also the one I related to the most. It's not easy for her to return home after the childhood she had. Her mother left her, choosing to live with another family. Her father wasn't the most supportive. And when she left town, her father said some pretty unkind things to her....

But, after her father passes, she has to come home for the reading of the will. She doesn't want nor expect anything, but hopes her older brother, who is a single father, benefits in some way. Imagine her surprise to find out there were some unexpected caveats in the will. If she wants her brother to get anything, she has to marry her father's neighbor Lane....

She and Lane had met before and had ALL of the chemistry, but Emerson talked herself out of going forward with any interactions. At that time, she didn't know the plans, nor did she know Lane knew exactly who she was.

Lane was so into Emerson, but realizes she is slow to trust. He is ready to put in the work he needs to show her that he can be her forever....

My heart was so happy with this book. The found family. The supportive relationships. The crochet club...

I am now patiently waiting for Brooks to get his story..

"Whiskey Proposal" is what small town romances are made of! This was my second book that I've read in this series and I really enjoy this town and these characters and the way they support and champion each other. I will admit, while I don't necessarily think you NEED to read the previous books to follow the story of the FMC & MMC, there are so many other characters with significant backstories, and that was a little hard for me to keep straight. HOWEVER, because I'm curious about everyone else's story and relationships, I very much want to go back and read the previous books in this series and in the Bourbon Canyon series - so, job well done Walker Rose! :)

But back to Lane and Emerson - I loved their back and forth dynamic and their banter was wonderful (as was their chemistry and tension!). There was a lot of charm and emotion in this book too, and the humor was so well done. I appreciate when an author finds a balance between romance, an emotional journey (honestly for so many of these characters), humor and spice. And since all of these characters have emotional and/or traumatic pasts, it's just a reminder that we all have scars and in a small town romance, that makes the characters a little more real and lot more relatable.

Thank you to The Author Agency for the chance to read this book early - I cannot wait for Whiskey Tease (I am dying to see how Brooks and Campbell's relationship develops!!!)

Every book in this series (and the Bourbon Canyon series) has been heartfelt and unique in it's telling, which is why I appreciate this author so dang much.

Whiskey Proposal is book 4 in the Foster House series and we get Emerson Langley and Lane Foster. Also introduced is Em's brother, Brooks, and his daughter, Hillary. You may remember their father from previous books, Hutch Langley. He is the piece that glues Emerson and Lane together, though it may have been from a little gentle prodding by Lane. You'll see.

Well now, what we have here is a nice marriage of convenience story, which is so much fun to read in my opinion. When the two lovebirds both have some serious baggage but are willing to take a leap of faith in each other? Magic happens.

Walker Rose does an amazing job at writing a woman who is used to being abandoned. There were some dark moments that I completely related with and I was stopped in my tracks a few times. Lane has his fair share of childhood trauma, but Em had the key to my heart with her feeling all of the feelings (except the big one right in front of her).

Now tropes:
* marriage of convenience
* found family
* cowboy/rancher
* he falls first
* childhood trauma (both MMC and FMC)
* small town
* western romance
* banter
* forced proximity
* emotional healing

Thank you to Walker Rose for the opportunity to read/review Whiskey Proposal prior to publication.

Obsessed is too mild a word, for how much I love this couple 🤭😏 Their chemistry is insane from the get go, and their banter 😚 Chef's kiss! Thank you so much, Walker, for this ARC 😏💙

Emerson Langley 😩 She's so frickin adorable, sassy, independant, feisty and incredible 🥹 This woman is one of my most favorite fmc's ever! I couldn't stop cackling everytime she bantered with and made Lane run circles around her 😏 She's literal sunshine and I adore how much that side of her comes out around Lane 🥹 I felt for her reading about her childhood, and understood a lot of the decisions she's made 😩 She deserves the world, and I am so frickin glad she has her hea with her cowboy husband 🥹 She is equally shy and kinky 😏 and I smirked watching her find her self 😚

Lane Foster 😩 This hawt cowboy had me giggling and blushing since page one 😌 If I thought Walker Rose's previous mmc's had me in love, then Lane has me 🧎‍♀️ He's an intense and banterful, golden retriever around her. Green flag all around 😎 Pair that with his filthy mouth and kinky self, and you have a cowboy husband that's so obsessed with his wife 🤭 Lane's had his own share of a childhood, and all I wanted was to hug him 😭 He deserved his happiness and to always obsess over his dream woman 🥹🤭 He'll do anything for her and everything to show her how much he loves her 💙

The spice had me gasping and blushing intensely 🤭 The writing is incredible and had me hooked on every page 😌 I need Brooks book next 🥵😈 That teaser 😩

I recieved an advanced reader’s copy and this is my honest review.

Emerson comes back to her childhood town where memories were not the greatest and she wanted to leave it behind. The news of her father’s death brings her back to learn that she will inherit her childhood home with a stipulation. She needs to marry Lane in order to get it, a man she’s ghosted before. Lane is determined to keep Emerson in his life. There are more secrets she doesn’t know about. Emerson doesn’t want to but she has her brother, Brooks, and her niece Hillary to look out for. So she stays for a little while hoping to divorce at the end of it.

Emerson’s childhood background was so sad. The way she grew up and having the parents she did. I could totally see why she is the way it is. Walker did a great job at describing Emerson and why she is the way she is.

Lane has childhood baggage of his own. He views things differently though because his experience was similar but also the opposite. I love that he was completely obsessed with her from the beginning and went along the plan that her father brought up.

The spicy scenes were good! Really loved it when Emerson finally broke down and gave into her feelings!

I cannot wait for the next book. Really hoped for her story next and so excited to see its coming!

I absolutely loved this one! 🥹❤️ Whiskey Proposal was such a fun, sweet, and emotional addition to the Foster family series, and Lane Foster completely stole my heart.

Lane is EVERYTHING. Quiet, patient, dependable, protective, and such a massive green flag. 🥹 The way he supported Emerson, gave her the space she needed, and slowly showed her that she could trust him had me absolutely swooning. And the chemistry between these two?? 🔥 The tension, banter, and push & pull were SO good!

Emerson was such a strong FMC. She had so much baggage from her past, and watching her slowly open up, find her confidence, and realize that she deserved love and a place to call home was honestly one of my favorite parts of the story. ❤️

The marriage of convenience + forced proximity worked so well, and I loved watching these two go from strangers to something so much more. Add in the small-town setting, family drama, found family, a little spice, and plenty of chicken chaos 😂🐔 and you have such an entertaining read!

The Foster family continues to have my whole heart, and I already can’t wait for the next book. 🥹

If you love small-town romance, marriage of convenience, forced proximity, a quiet green-flag MMC, strong FMCs, found family, banter, and ALL the feels, definitely add this one to your TBR!

Thank you to Walker Rose and the author team for the early copy! 🥰📖
