The Winchester witches are at it again, and this time the stakes are higher than ever. Go along with Bay, Thistle, Clove, Aunt Tillie and the rest of the Winchester family (and their friends, of course) as they take on human traffickers, an angry poltergeist and a murderous bank robber. You’ll finally get a chance to meet their fathers, Landon’s family, and find out if Clove will ever get lucky in love. That’s on top of the usual family hijinks, and Aunt Tillie’s irrepressible wrath – which can never fully be contained.
This omnibus includes books 4 to 6 in the Wicked Witches of the Midwest series: Witching on a Star, Something to Witch About and Witch Me Luck.
When I was a kid, I was torn between whether or not I was going to grow up and be the Incredible Hulk or Wonder Woman. I flirted with being a Jedi Knight for awhile, but I wasn't up for the intense travel associated with the gig. In my teens, I settled on being a writer -- although I had no idea the effort that would entail. Not only am I a writer now, but I'm a writer in several different mediums. I'm a longtime newspaper reporter, an avid reader and a voracious science fiction fanatic.
I go through periods where I just need a bit of fluff and these books provided me just that. At times they were laugh out loud funny but the dialogue is torturous. I’ve read six of these and instead of enjoying them more I’m getting annoyed at the repetitive dialogue. How many conversations do Bay and Landon have to have about him not leaving and her getting in trouble all the time. It’s the same thing every book. I’m starting to think Bay is just a whiner and Landon is a possessive wuss. Was going to try to read the whole series but I think I have to stop on six.
Second time around and I listened to this so I could get to the next book. The sad news is that as I listened I discovered that, while it was still fun, it wasn't very well written. She breaks the Cardinal Rule of Dialogue by using the following tag: he/she said . By the end of the book, it was very distracting. Also, some of the dialogue doesn't sound natural. I don't know if that was the audio narrator or not, but that along with dialogue that didn't progress the story and chapter endings that didn't leave me "hanging" left me flat, overall. The plot is fun and the characters, for the most part are entertaining (but could Landon be any more annoying in this book, though?). Since I have the other two in the series as party of the audio package, I may finish them, but I'm, sadly, disappointed.
The Winchester witches of Hemlock Grove are back with their own special brand of magical mayhem. The more I read this series, the more I like it and the more invested in the characters I become. The catty sniping between Bay, Thistle, and Clove becomes more amusing than irritating and I wind up looking forward to what new antics Aunt Tillie will get up to next. I fully intend to keep reading more of this entertaining series.
I couldn't contain my laughing. My family thought I was nuts, I said nope it's just my book. These last three were great. I still don't figure out who the bad guy is until the writer tells me. I love the hilarious crazy cast of characters and their quirky ways. The sarcasm is so realistic, it's something a wild real family would be like. I just love this series💖💖💖💖💜
Wicked Witches of the Midwest #4-6 a lot goes on in these 3 books, but I'd have to say the most important thing is that I am hooked on this series. The narrator, whom I don't really like, is even starting to grow on me. Her voices for the different characters are showing more delineation and her awkward pauses are lessening. She still pronounces words I don't think she should wrong but what can you do? Nobody's perfect. Enjoy!
This is the best series ever, I love it! All the characters are wonderful, so much fun to read! The dinners are so awesome! I just can’t describe how great this series is, so read it for yourself! It’s perfect in so many ways, family, small town shenanigans, great relationships, magic, interesting mysteries to solve, hilarious and clever dialogue, Aunt Tillie popping out of a bush lol. Highly recommend!
If you are a reader that likes whimsey, mystery, crime, fantasy, witches, love of crazy family, young love, and an elderly aunt that keeps every one one their toes....these books are for you. They are fun loving, halarious, and infectious to read. Sorry I won't spill the beans on Bay's family...but you should really share the experience.
I always like the way this family sticks together. They fight and curse each other but are loyal and know when to get the other ones back. Amanda M. Lee is one of my favorite writers. I thought I had read ever book in this series but I realized after reading the description that I’d missed this one. They’re always so enjoyable!
Murder, ghosts, and witches, all nearly normal in Hemlock Cove, and the Winchesters take it all in stride. If course, the Winchester family are the witches! They family interaction makes me laugh out loud, repeatedly. But they always get the job done solving crimes.
I got the first in the series as a freebie, but enjoyed Ms Lee's characters and dialogues so much I bought the next! Bay and her family seem as real as my own, except for the witchcraft... I also bought the Covenant series. If you enjoyed Maryjanice Davidson's Undead books, you will LOVE (probably) the Wicked Witches.
These books are really fun to read. I love the snarky dialog and the characters. The stories are well written as fast paced. Great for a weekend snuggled under a blanket with a cup of not chocolate.
After reading the first 6 books in the series, I went and bought all 13 books. Fortunately I saved a little money as the series has been issued in box sets of 3 books each. Cannot wait to read the entire series.
I read this whole series of paranormal cozies back-to-back, so they all run together. I loved the characters and the family drama, interspersed with crime mysteries. And it's free on Kindle Unlimited.
It, again I did sort of guess Nick was the robber less then half way through but the book is about the characters not the mystery as it were.. another brilliant laugh.
These books are great Cozy Mystery/Paranormal fun. I made it through all 3 books over the weekend and they are a great, lazy/rainy day read. Aunt Tille and her pot field always keeps you guessing and the relationship dynamics between Bay, Thistle, and Clove are always entertaining. These are great books if you're looking for a fun, fast read.
I love the snark and sarcasm and its laugh out loud antics. Makes for an entertaining, can't put it down series. The shorts were really good too and gave great insight into the characters. I hope Amanda Lee keeps writing this series. There aren't enough adjectives to describe how much fun and enjoyment these books have brought me!
I love this series...a little witchcraft, a little mystery and great characters. It nice to have romance that is not explicit but that can be created in the readers own mind. Aunt Tillie is my hero. Each book can stand alone but yet they do tie together. I have read out of order but now ready for 7 and 8.
