The description at the end of the blurb says it all—‘ a Grumpy/sunshine, bi-awakening, found family, forced proximity,’ slow moving romance from hidden attraction to lots of feelings, all happening in a remote search and rescue camp in the Olympic mountains of Washington state. Colin is the new medic, amazed by all the hot guys at his new station, especially the boss, Xander. Xander is grumpy all the time, and Colin delights in teasing him, trying to seduce him when he can tell he is interested. Xander is in the middle of a messy divorce, stress level is high, and Colin knows just how to get this “thinks he’s straight but attracted to Colin” guy to loosen up and relax. Confused about this new attraction to just Colin, none of the other guys, Xander falls under Colin’s spell, discovering an entire new side to himself he never realized was there. Keeping it secret from all the others is the plan, until suddenly the “plan” is scrapped and the relationship is outed. Xander must think hard where to go from here, break things off or continue to see where the relationship with this amazing man will go.
The rest of the crew is an amazing bunch, the twins Reno and Mika, Travis, Maverick, Carter and Jake — the ones Xander considers “lovable idiots with few brain cells between them”, but a loyal and supportive group, along with Cait, the only gal and second in command behind Xander. The arrival of Colin changes the dynamic a bit, and things are further shaken up by the arrival of Adrien, Mika’s ex from his college days. Since this is book 1 of the new Ridgeline Station series, I expect we will get a book about Mika and Adrian and their history, an I would also think one about Reno and Jake — both straight, but there’s obviously something going on there. All of the guys are pretty entertaining, but I especially liked Jake —he kind of reminds me of a new large-breed puppy, rough-housing, oblivious in a lot of ways about what goes on around him, but aware in others. I enjoyed his character. Xander and Colin were realistic and relatable for me, I enjoyed Colin’s teasing and flirting seduction of Xander who seemed pretty surprised by his whole attraction but not able to ignore it. I thought the two were perfect together, Colin usually upbeat with jokes, able to defuse situations as well as as smooth the edges out for Xander when it got to be too much. I smiled a lot when those two were together.
The stresses and toll the job can take on the team was alluded to with one rescue situation to throw in a sobering thought along with the banter and shenanigans of the team members when they weren’t involved in a rescue. I thought the world building from the everyday routines when not on a rescue to the stress and anxiety of a rescue situation was a good way to show the contrast of the rhythm of the days versus the immediacy of a rescue, always needing to be on the alert and prepared when needed. Most of the book does take place at the station, not in the field, but the contrast was there.
I enjoyed the book, it held my interest and kept me engaged in the growing relationship between Colin and Xander as Xander navigated this new reality, not only physically, but in terms of finding a sense of peace and a connection to another person in the quiet times, not just as the sexy ones. I look forward to the next couple and more of the guys from Ridgeline Station.

Opening his new series Ridgeline Station (Search and Rescue) he describes his concept as ‘Storm is a slow-burn M/M romance featuring grumpy/sunshine, first-time-with-a-man bi-awakening, forced proximity, found family, and one unforgettable wilderness search and rescue crew.’
Understanding his readers’ need to inspect (and become involved in) the new characters that populate this series he offers a keen synopsis of this entry novel: ‘Xander - For ten years, I’ve led Ridgeline Station the same way. Absolutely loved this book!!
Wow, I have just finished this book and it is absolutely brilliant. I loved the grumpy man that Xander is. He is going through hell at the moment divorcing his crazy ex-wife. And he is working with men he trust but in his own words they’re all idiots but he trust them to do their job and he has Kate who is in an amazing woman who somehow keeps this Rescue station running. Xander had thought he had struck gold when he found a medic/Dr for the station. He had such great reviews. He was a former Navy corpse Man and he knew on paper he was a right person for the job.
Colin couldn’t believe he was in a truck with a crazy man driving through a storm. In all fairness, Jake seemed to know what he was doing, but he would be grateful to get to the station. It also helped that Jake was a very good looking man. Colin was openly and proud to be a gay man and hoped that he had found a job that would fulfil him. Then when he gets there, he meets Kate and as they walk through the common room there is porn on the telly and one of the guys oops I fell asleep.. Colin who was soaked through decided to have a hot shower, it was a communal shower and he was by himself so he thought he would enjoy some private time what he didn’t think would happen was his boss standing there asking what he was doing. And that is how he met Xander. Colin was embarrassed about how he had met him but his personality just got him through even though he was being punished by making dinner for everyone he was still positive he was still funny. He was just that guy that everyone gets on with.
And that I think is in the first chapter or first two chapters this book is absolutely a page Turner I couldn’t put the Book down and I’m glad I had a day where I could just get absorbed into the rescue Center and these two men. The banter, the passion between them is so real. It’s spine tingling. Xander had never been attracted to a man before so getting his head round these feelings took a beat but Colin was the perfect man for him. A brilliant read. Loved it!.

I really enjoyed Colin and Xander's story!
I loved the push and pull between them and how naturally their personalities complemented each other. Xander is such a deeply rooted and steadfast character that I honestly think Colin was the only person who could have broken through his walls the way he did. Their banter was one of my favorite parts of the book. It's quick, clever, and full of chemistry, with Colin's sass making every interaction entertaining.
Colin is absolutely brat-coded, and I loved every second of it. His humor and sarcasm have a lightness that makes him impossible not to love. While he shares some similarities with Cait and Mona in terms of confidence and wit, his teasing never feels sharp or mean-spirited. Instead, it feels playful, making him a refreshing and incredibly likable character.
While I do wish there had been a few more rescue or doctor moments throughout the book, the scene we did get was incredibly impactful. It gave such great insight into Colin's character and reminded me that beneath all of his wit and humor is someone deeply compassionate and capable.
It was a brief glimpse into his professional life, but it carried a lot of emotional weight.
One thing I appreciated most was how Colin approached Xander's journey of understanding his sexuality. He never rushed him or pushed for more than Xander was ready to give. Instead, he remained patient, steady, and supportive, allowing Xander the space to figure things out at his own pace. That emotional maturity made their relationship feel authentic and deeply respectful.
The Ridgeline Station crew also completely won me over. Every member of the team added something to the story, and by the end I found myself just as invested in them as I was in the main couple. I can’t wait for what stories from this station.

Xander and Colin . . .
For many years, Captain Xander has led the Ridgeline Station wilderness search and rescue crew the way he always has, expecting them to do the job, obey orders, and not make it personal. Then their new medic, Colin Bradford, a former Navy corpsman, arrives in the middle of a really bad storm, more like a hurricane. Since the driver seemed calm, apparently even enjoying the challenge, Colin decided not to let it bother him either. Then lightning struck a tree, the bark exploded, and the tree fell, making him think death might be imminent.
In no time at all, Colin is comfortable speaking up and telling Xander when he is wrong about something... and Xander had to admit to himself that it was usually a justified criticism. But when Xander is grumpy and about to object to Colin sitting in his chair, he finds himself distracted by the freckles across Colin's nose, a totally unexpected and embarrassing reaction! Xander had been married to a woman, and yet Colin's freckles had made him speechless! Colin is already realizing Xander is the kind of man who would not hesitate to walk into any storm to bring a stranger home, yet would not allow anyone to put themselves in danger for him. He has earned the respect of his crew. And as Colin sees Xander watching him more often, he finally realizes it is not that Xander doesn't trust him but is actually showing interest in him. Colin is very observant, but he doesn't push Xander into acknowledging his feelings. He allows the awareness to come naturally to Xander, at his own comfort level. Working here had been meant to be a temporary job for a few months until his restlessness urged him to move on. But maybe this time he is exactly where he belongs. Will he be open to remaining here permanently? Or will the arrival of Xander's almost-ex Mona end it all?

Grumpy/sunshine and found family.... What's not to love?
I adore Romeo's writing. His characters jump off the page and his storytelling is compelling. Each series is different but he is a master of his craft, his words sweeping me effortlessly in and holding my attention from first page to last.
Xander and Colin's story was fun to read, with medic Colin tantalising his boss Xander right from their first inauspicious meeting, and teasing him gently while taking no nonsense from him. Xander had a heart of gold underneath his gruff and grumpy persona, exasperated with the frat boys while still caring about them. The electricity between them sparks wildly, all while Colin doesn't take any shit from his boss. Xander exploring his newfound attraction to a man is almost like pulling teeth, outwardly reticent but then with each small nudge from Colin, letting loose and wholeheartedly committed to their mutual enjoyment.
The inhabitants of Ridgeline Station are just a group of overgrown schoolchildren for the most part, excluding Xander, Cait and Colin, and often it's more like I imagine a frat house to be than a Search and Rescue Station that deals with life and death situations. Colin, Xander and Cait are older and their life experiences contrast with the younger members of the team. It creates a great dynamic between them all, like the fondness of parents for their offspring while being exasperated by them daily.
It's a true found family that lives and works together. The cast of characters is fascinating and there are already two potential couples among the staff that I can't wait to read about, but before them it's a second chance romance between a staff member and an interloper. Can't wait.

Storm begins in a storm, a vicious one which apparently means nothing to Jake who loves the thrill of driving in them and is the only one of the team crazy enough to do just that. But he did need to collect their new team member and medic Colin.
Colin has spent most of his life on the move, rarely settling for long, being a navy corpsman has meant he's seen his fair share of tough moments and now, being a medic, well, let's just say he's immune to most things and can fit in well wherever he happens to be dropped. This time the job is at Ridgeline Station providing medical support for the small team who live and work there and those they have to rescue.
Xander has been there ten years. He loves the job but he's also been hiding, from life, from his soon-to-be ex-wife, from the world. Colin brings a breath of fresh air, a demeanour that cannot be scared off by a scowl and brusque words and sets off a whirlwind of emotions in Xander he never realised he had.
I loved this book from start to finish. It was full of surprises, humour, antics, crazy people. The emotions are real, the relationships are real - honest, born of the truth of living and working in close quarters with one another. There is banter, there are lots of surprises, there are struggles too and one very difficult scene, which is needed if sad. *Storm* is the first book in the new series “Ridgeline Station (Search and Rescue).” I was really looking forward to reading it, and it was absolutely worth it.
The author’s writing style was wonderful. He describes the protagonists and the events in great detail, and I was able to really empathize with the characters.
The story is told alternately from the perspectives of Xander and Colin.
Xander has been running the station for a long time, but he’s currently going through a divorce from his wife and tends to be a bit grumpy.
Colin is a paramedic who used to be in the Navy and has just joined the Ridgeline Station team. He’s likable and isn’t afraid to speak his mind to Xander. Most of the time, his criticism is justified.
Colin’s first encounter with Xander was when Colin was in the shower, entertaining himself. Well, then Colin’s freckles caught Xander’s attention—a reaction Xander hadn’t expected.
What I really liked was how the relationship between the two developed. Colin never pressured Xander, but he was definitely attentive. The chemistry between them was great, but does their budding romantic relationship stand a chance when his soon-to-be ex-wife shows up? Read it for yourself!
I also loved the camaraderie within the team, and of course there was an exciting rescue mission. I’m really looking forward to the next books in the series!
“Storm” is extremely entertaining and a real pleasure to read. It kept me hooked from start to finish and made me smile along the way, because in addition to interesting verbal sparring, there were also some sweet moments.

The author’s writing style was wonderful. He describes the protagonists and the events in great detail, and I was able to really empathize with the characters.
The story is told alternately from the perspectives of Xander and Colin.
Xander has been running the station for a long time, but he’s currently going through a divorce from his wife and tends to be a bit grumpy.
Colin is a paramedic who used to be in the Navy and has just joined the Ridgeline Station team. He’s likable and isn’t afraid to speak his mind to Xander. Most of the time, his criticism is justified.
Colin’s first encounter with Xander was when Colin was in the shower, entertaining himself. Well, then Colin’s freckles caught Xander’s attention—a reaction Xander hadn’t expected.
What I really liked was how the relationship between the two developed. Colin never pressured Xander, but he was definitely attentive. The chemistry between them was great, but does their budding romantic relationship stand a chance when his soon-to-be ex-wife shows up? Read it for yourself!
I also loved the camaraderie within the team, and of course there was an exciting rescue mission. I’m really looking forward to the next books in the series!
“Storm” is extremely entertaining and a real pleasure to read. It kept me hooked from start to finish and made me smile along the way, because in addition to interesting verbal sparring, there were also some sweet moments.

Storm, by Romeo Alexander, is a great beginning to this new series. Wright off the bat I appreciated the length of this book. It comes in under 300 pages which is definitely a sweet spot for me.
This book introduces a cast of characters and a few of their back stories, just enough to make me intrigued about reading the subsequent books.
This book features a grumpy sunshine trope. Grumpy runs a search and rescue outpost, Sunshine is the new medic on staff. Right away they have an awkward meet cute where one catches the other in a compromising moment. From there the tension ramps up. It is not, however, a book full of angst and anger. More just learning about one another and how to communicate. There is one extended scene of a rescue operation that read like a movie scene. I could really see it all unfolding. There was drama and heartbreak there. I wanted some more follow up of that- maybe a scene checking in on the victims involved, or thanking the rescuers. This author is always good at describing sequences of action. I am hoping there’s more of that in the next books, too, because the setting provides great plot opportunities for guys out on rescue missions.
Check TWs for a few things that are sometimes problematic for certain readers. Overall I loved that it ended with a nice epilogue while not spoiling anything about the next books and the couples in them.

I absolutely loved this first book in a new interconnected series. While this is a complete book with our MC's falling in love and getting their HEA, it left me eager for the next book.

This is the first book in the new and exciting Ridgeline Station (Search and Rescue) series. The stories are surrounding all the people who man the search and rescue station. While we are introduced to the entire team, this is the story of Xander and Colin. Captain Xander has been in charge of the station for many years. He has a reputation for being grumpy and stubborn which he is proud to own. Colin is the new medic and former Navy corpsman. Calm and collected is in his DNA. He puts 100% of his focus into doing his job. And now he is going to use that focus on Xander. Someone has to take care of the man who takes care of everyone else. Colin is signing up for the job. This is their story. The book is written well and is easy to read. I enjoyed the chemistry and interaction between Colin and Xander. As well as learning about the rest of the team. I liked the comradery between responders. I look forward to the next book in this series.

There's a chaotic, intense energy to the station, and I really enjoy that the bonds aren't all fully formed, you feel that this is a group that will grow with the series and their connections will evolve naturally and I'm already invested.
As to Xander and Colin? Xander is truly irascible, grouchy and anti social. Not unkindly, but truly and his bond with Colin is pulled from him, gradually and is all the more rewarding for it. And Colin? Well Colin certainly knows how to make a first impression!
The setting, the moments of intensity and peril, with some deeply painful moments amidst the warmth and humour (and heat), all combine to make this a fabulous introduction to a new team.

This was a fantastic start to a new series, but I'm not surprised. Romeo Alexander doesn't miss and I already can't wait to see what else is in store for the men of Ridgeline Station. Xander and Colin are the perfect grumpy/sunshine pairing, and watching Xander completely unraavel under Colin's quiet confidence and seemingly never ending patience was pretty fun to watch. Colin doesn't take anything seriously until he has to, and that's exactly what Xander needs.
The search-and-rescue setting adds just the right amount of excitement without overshadowing the romance, and the found family dynamic is already shaping up to be amazing. The chemistry, humor and emotional growth are all perfectly done, making this an easy five star read. 5 star: Great Starter For a New Series
I absolutely loved Storm. This was a fantastic 1st book of a series. I loved the chemistry between Colin and Xander. Age gap is one of my favorite tropes.
The dynamic between everyone was a lot of fun and I'm looking forward to the next books: Mika/Aiden- seriously that is a given. It's fully known that they have a story coming our way. But I feel like Carter/Maverick might have one, too. And then did anyone else think something was up between Reno/Jake. It may be that I have read so many of your books that I know your secrets aka formula. But I'm here for it. It works and I'm eager to see the next books whether I'm right or wrong. This is going to be an amazing adventure that is for sure.

What a start to a new series! I can't express how much I loved this book. I laughed and laughed some more.
Xander was the grumpiest of grumps, while Collin was his complete opposite, and they were absolutely perfect together. Once Xander realized he was attracted to Collin, he went all in. I loved that he never denied his feelings or fought against them.
The rest of the Ridgeline Station Search and Rescue crew, especially Cait, were absolutely hysterical. I loved how loyal Cait was to the Big Boss while also having the backs of the rest of the team.
I can't wait to see what's next for the rest of these "idiots." This series is off to an amazing start, and I'm already looking forward to the next book!

4.5 stars. Great start to a new series based in Ridgeline Station, where a variety of first responders reside to rescue and aid people in need in the mountains. There were some excellent dangerous and rescue scenes during storms (one of which wasn't fully successful which was very painful). Captain Xander was all one could want from a grumpy leader, and Colin being the only man to stand up to him created some good interactions. A great group of characters and hopefully plenty of dangerous situations to come in the next book.

I really enjoyed this first installment to Romeo's new series. Xander and Colin were great MCs - I love a good Grumpy/Sunshine trope and I loved their awkward, naked first meeting. I loved the progression of their relationship and I can't wait to get more glimpses of them as the series progresses.
All the side characters added to the story in their own way and I loved their crew dynamic as well. This had everything I love in an MM romance, witty banter, strong relationships and side characters that I can't wait to read more about!.

I am excited for this new series, and this was a great entry novel. We start with Xander and his love interest Colin, but we also get to know and connect with the entire crew. The comradery and commitment between all the men of the crew, we get to experience alongside them. I loved that we got the Captain, Xander's romance right out the gate. He was so serious and structured. Colin was all the happy things that got under his skin. This was actually quite hot on the chemistry and intimacy side as well!

In this story both men are in the midst of realizing that they have found something neither expected to in the other. For Xander, a man he was not expecting to want - especially as he was married to a woman in the past. And for Colin, a man that makes him want to stay put. That has not been his MO until this point in his life. They are an expected find for one another. But that makes their connection that much more.

I don't read a lot of non-sports contemporary romance but I saw the meet-cute in the blurb and couldn't resist picking this one up. I'm a sucker for a power imbalance and I enjoyed how it was sort of played with here. The whole cast of characters was so fun, and I think I see some potential future pairings... The crew is great. I liked how Xander and Colin fall for each other and Xander's discovery of loving a man. Xander's ex wasn't very nice. I liked how Xander and Colin accidentally came out in front of everyone and their relationship only got stronger.

Wonderful story of the men of the Ridgeline (Search and Rescue) Station, featuring Xander, Captain of the station and Colin, the new medic. Loved these characters and watching them come together as a couple. This author's writing draws you in and won't let you go. Looking forward to more in this series. Highly recommend.

This was such a good start to this new series. Xander is grumpy while Colin is all sunshine but they just fit together even despite not meeting under the best circumstances. We also get Xander's bi-awakening along with other ups and downs personally and professionally. It all made for a good story and i can't wait for book two.

This is a laugh out loud book and a romantic one at the same time. Colin breaks through Xander's grumpiness by playing into it. The two embark on a secret affair until his birthday and then the cat's out of the bag! However, they do get their HEA!.
