This book has been on my TR shelf for a long time, since May.
If I choose to read a book, usually I finish it within a week. If this doesn't happen, then there's something wrong with that book.
In this case the characters are so uninteresting and boring. The hero is unremarkable and the heroine looks dumb. This series is offering nothing new for me and there isn't another character, whose story I'm looking forward to reading.
So this is my Goodbye to this series. There were some really good books, but the last ones are disappointing.
I liked this one and really loved Blake, I was excited to learn about him in Luther’s book and couldn’t wait to get his story. He did not disappoint, Lilo on the other hand…blah. She came across as kind of hysterical with a side of dense added on. The things she said about vampires before they were together the first time just put her even more in the hysterical twit category for me. She did get her shit together but not really enough for me.
Needless to say Lilo took this book down a notch or two for me, she really wasn’t too bright at times and I could just hear some of her fits towards Blake with some screeching whiny voice. She had some great moments but then got mad because Blake didn’t let her get her way to go on a mission that she had no business going on in the first place. Not to mention she got mad at him for a really asinine reason after the interrogation with Ronny.
Speaking of Ronny, I would really have liked to know what happened to him and it would have been great to know how things turned out with Ronny and Hannah. But there was no resolution to that, at all.
So I liked this one but it wasn’t one of my favorites by a long shot.
I loved the previous books in this series but the last few just haven’t had that same intense feeling for me. I will read Wesley’s book and hopefully John’s if he gets one. I really wasn’t crazy about the twenty year jump for Luther’s book. I am just not interested in any of the million kids in this series that are teens or 20 somethings now, none of them have really given me an incentive to carry on with the series if or when the series turns to their stories. But I will hold out until after we get Wesley’s book and see where things go from there.
I couldn't stop reading Blake's Pursuits. It was action packed, fast paced, a few surprise twist and of course a Hot and Sexy Romance between Blake Bond Vampire and Lieselotte/Lilo Schroeder Author of Mystery stories.
Hannah Bergdorf has gone missing she is a Scandguards Driver and Lilo's best friend. Lilo has just arrived at Hannah's apartment only to find she is not there and has been missing way to long. So after a long plane ride she takes a shower. Lilo hears someone roaming around the apartment and goes to find out if its a burgler. She encounters a man looking for something and she advances on him, but he is no ordinary man. Just in time Blake arrives looking for his friend and colleague, Hannah she has not checked into work for 3 days. Blake encounters the attack on Lilo and stops the advancing Vampire for killing her. Lilo doesn't know of the existence of Vampire. So she suspects nothing as her and Blake set out to find Hannah.
This was a exciting and wonderful story. I really couldn't put it down Blake's story also introduces a new paranormal race of beings called the Stealth Guardians. I can't wait to read to read Master Unchained Wesley's story and to meet the Stealth Guardians. I also, like re visiting all the Scanguard couples and there very interesting children. I Highly Recommend the Scanguard series and its latest addition Blake's Pursuit!!
I've been a bit disappointed with the last couple of Scanguards. This one was better, stronger storyline and characters and she has reinvigorated the series with the inclusion of the second generation vampire hybrids and the introduction of the mysterious Stealth Guardians.
Once a month I need a book like this - predictable, heated, with a little bit of action and a happy ending. And vampires, of course. That's why I'm so far in the series. I know that many people may suggest that since not much is actually happening in the series, only new couples get together in it (hint - it's a paranormal ROMANCE), it's a waste of time. But I personally appreciate it. Folsom's style of writing is easy to read (kudos to her, English is not her mother tongue yet she manages to tell stories in it) and flows fast. I got to the series when I was looking for something to fill the void between Black Dagger Brotherhood novels and if I compare it with that then yes, it's less complicated and the characters don't have chance to develop fully. But if you are tired of remembering who is who and why they are fighting with gazillion other creatures whose names you can't keep in your memory, then this is the right book for you.
Blake’s pursuit Really was quite enjoyable until a certain point, then I just read it to finish it. Intriguing plot, up until Lilo (stupid name) starts ranting about how vampires are disgusting, vile and abominations. This is capped by her then throwing herself at Blake and begging him to make love to her so she can forget what she’s seen. Pathetic and rude. Then she agrees to unprotected sex, still not knowing Blake is one of those ABOMINATIONS and cannot get her pregnant. Then she starts all over with the vile creatures theme again. Bigoted. I stopped reading here and switched books to calm down. Once I decided to finish this so I was up to date in the series, I have to say the spark was gone and I found the story just okay. The ending wrapped up very quickly. Blake as we know from previous books, is nice but I found it funny he seemed to have a lot of clout. I thought he was just one of Scanguards enforcers protecting the hybrid children but he was giving Samson orders in this story. Also found it funny that Blake describes one’s sexual orientation as staying the same when they are turned, when discussing Thomas and Eddie. Eddie was heterosexual originally until Thomas pursued him. Interesting having the Stealth Guardians side bit.
I love Tina's books and am always looking forward for the next one. But for Blake's book, I really didn't find much interest in it. Since it was the next one I can't just skip this one. The beginning was fine and started alright with putting everything into place. Till later of course just went down hill for me.
The female was to boring for me, Blake didn't make my spark flare, and I won't mind continue reading more of Tina's books. I know something will spark soon like it did when I first found this series. It kicked off wonderfully and continued till this far.
Who knows, maybe the next book will be better to spark my interest in what I am craving for. I won't give up. I will find my spark again so I can once again dive in a delicious read of romantic adventure. Something that will blow me away with a single chapter.
Great Read My favorite Vampires,as always great storyline can't wait for the next Scanguards Vampires Book. Which you have already told us it will be Wesley storyline, hope he gets a love interest and we don't have to long for the next Scanguards release.
I have to say, the Blake that we get in this "fast-forward" set of Scanguards books is totally not the Blake that I used to hate on in the original set. He's grown up in a big way, and thank goodness, because this book was 100% him (OK... maybe there was a little Wes, too, but that's probably just because he had to set up the crossover).
In the previous book we learned that Blake moved his way through security and is now the guy in charge of guarding everyone's children. It seems like a momentous task, but he appears up for the job. We also learn that he is somehow plugged in to their side business, Vuber, the vampire ride company. When one of the drivers goes missing, he immediately tries to help locate the missing woman. That's where his path crosses with Lilo.
Lilo might be a famous writer, but she still keeps in touch with her longtime BFF. Said BFF also happens to be the missing woman that Blake is trying to track down. When she finds out that her friend missed her mother's birthday, she knows something is wrong and immediately flies out to try to figure out what is wrong. After sort-of breaking into her apartment, she's quickly attacked, then just as quickly saved by Blake. While there is a little bit of tension between the two of them, they are willing to put aside differences to track down their mutual friend. The only problem is that Lilo is not exactly "in the know" about vampires.
While hiding his secret isn't anything new to Blake, it quickly becomes an issue as their earlier tension grows into attraction. Blake even begins to recognize the signs of Lilo possibly being his mate. There is a whole lot of sizzle from this couple (as is to be expected from a Scanguards book) but we also get a larger mystery in the form of some new crime-spree happening in the city. As the two stories converge, don't worry, we still find our way to a happy ending for everyone.
Here we seeing a more mature & helpful Blake ell that's how I see it. He's gone looking to see where his friend & colleague human Driver for the Scanguard team & other vampires, Hannah. But when he gets to her home he comes across Hannah's best friend Lilo being attacked, which of course he saves her. After they both realise they're st her home for the same reason, they join together to see what they can find, to where & what might have happened to Hannah. With having Witch Wesley to see if he can locate her. But it's not until whilst coming across a hidden usb key which does 2 vampires fighting & Lilo won't listen to Blake about not taking it to the police station, but see's that he has the key which she had given to the detective (who luckily knows all about them) & had to tell her all about them, but it was only after a couple of days of knowing each other, but which feels like it could've been weeks. So this is when things start to heat up not just with the quest of finding & rescuing Hannah from the vampires who's dealing & using it on people to do their bidding a severe drug.😱 And the attraction between Lilo & Blake.... 😚😍
Blake, Quinn’s many times grandson and head of security for the Scanguards unusual children finds himself involved with helping a beautiful human female find her best friend, a human employee of Scanguards, Vuber division.
Lilo (which is short for Lieselotte, a name I would have cut short also), had no idea what she was getting involved in with Blake both occupationally and romantically. Though I liked her and she was very brave I still felt that she was very flighty and accepted them too easily.
Wesley staying by himself was a stupid move and the others should never have let him do it. And though I know the author was just trying to fit them into the storyline, but the whole situation with the hybrid kids felt kind of forced and silly. So did the police/Donelley parts.
Footnote: 1) I love this series, but I have no idea what the name Scanguards refers to.
2) This also connects with a cross-over series involving Wesley, Haven’s witch bro and a group called the Stealth Guardians.
Fave scenes: Zane & family’s arrival, the orange juice, the silver bullet spoon and Lilo’s penname revel.
Blake Bond didn't know he wanted what others at Scanguards had until he met Lilo Schroeder. Lilo is looking for her best friend Hannah who happens to work for Vuber. Hannah is missing and Lilo is determined to find her friend. Whose responsible for Hannah going missing? Will Lilo learn Blake's secret? Why is Hannah missing? Your answers await you in Blake's Pursuit.
