FBI agent Elise Richardson fears the worst when a Mississippi teen is abducted days before Christmas. But she won't give up, especially when she learns she owes her life to the missing girl's father. Years ago, former army ranger Josh Adams lost his brother when he died saving Elise. Though Josh resents her for the loss, she's now his niece's only hope. Working with the ex-soldier proves dangerous to Elise's heart…and to her life when she closes in on what she fears is a human trafficking ring. If she's right, Elise has only days to rescue Josh's niece for a holiday homecoming—and to prove herself worthy of his love.
RANGERS UNDER FIRE: Nothing's more dangerous than falling in love
Award winning author Virginia Vaughan lives by the motto ‘It’s not hoarding if its books’. Always the kid with her nose stuck in a book, becoming a multi-published author hasn’t stopped Virginia from continuing to grow her own collection of favorite reads. Her family has refused to help her move anymore because of the sheer number boxes of books, but she’s no quitter. She’ll keep buying books and, the next time she moves, hire a moving van.

Short, and light hearted. Even the suspense at the end was okay. Nothing that wow'd me but another ebook finished regardless. I might try more by the author later.
Yuletide Abduction is by Virginia Vaughan. The book is one of the Rangers under F ire series. It is a love inspired suspense which I like because of the lack of graphic language, violence, and sexual scenes. It is refreshing to read without having to skip parts which offend or get to be too much. No one in Westhaven, Mississippi knows Elise Richardson is in town. She has not even checked in with the Sheriff yet, and although an FBI agent isn’t required to check in, she would do so later this morning because she wanted the files on the abducted teen in the town. She isn’t even here on official FBI business but on her own. This is why she did not have her gun nor her ID when she ran this morning. No stores were open and it seemed no one was awake except for her and the car following her. She quietly headed back to the hotel hoping to get there before anything happened. When she sped up, the car did too. When whoever was in the car realized she had spotted him, he gave chase and obviously intended to run her down. He was almost upon her when he was hit by a truck coming from the side. In the resulting crash, she stumbled into the opening of a store front and sustained a concussion when a heavy wreath fell on her head. She also sustained a hurt leg when a piece of metal from the cars punctured her leg. The last she knew was a man with the blue eyes of Max Adams was helping her. The man was his brother, Josh Adams. Josh Adams knew immediately who Elise was and knew she was the girl who was instrumental in getting Max killed. When she told him she was FBI, he knew he had to work with her. He had contacted the FBI to help find his niece who the Sheriff and the town had considered had run away. Josh knew in his heart that this was incorrect. There was no way Candace would run away. There was something strange about the letter she left her Mother. He knew Elise was the only person who could help him and he had to make her believe him. As Elise and Josh pick their way through the clues of Candace’s disappearance, for different reasons, they begin to uncover evidence that points to a bigger and more sinister plot. The big question is who is targeting Elise and Josh and why? Can they stay alive long enough to find out and to find Candace?
I didn’t intend to read this whole book today but I just couldn’t out it down. What a story! An FBI agent and a former Special Forces Ranger work together to find his abducted niece and end up finding a much deeper problem in this small community. Wow is all I can say. Great book and a quick read!
This is an excellent story, although I don't quite get it when an FBI agent goes off to figure out a case without their partner or any real backup from the agency.
From the book description: "KIDNAPPED AT CHRISTMAS FBI agent Elise Richardson fears the worst when a Mississippi teen is abducted days before Christmas. If she's right, Elise has only days to rescue Josh's niece for a holiday homecoming—and to prove herself worthy of his love."
FBI agent Elise Richardson went to Mississippi based on a missing girl case that seemed to have things in common with other missing girl cases that she thought might be a human trafficking ring, but she needed more facts. Josh, ex-Army Ranger is the girl's uncle and sure Candace did not run away despite leaving a note to that effect. The note fits with Elise's other cases and when someone begins trying to kill her, she's sure she on the right path. A typical inspirational romantic suspense story. Quick read.
This was a fantastic book with a theme that most desperately needs to be addressed. It's almost unbelievable how human trafficking has gotten such a foothold not only in the United States but also all over the world. I pray for all the men and women who work everyday to put an end to it.
4.5 stars Whew, the minute this lady with the FBI steps into town, someone's determined to take her out. Not only that, but as she investigates a girl's disappearance, another girl is abducted--while on the phone with her! Meanwhile, it's looking pretty hopeless for Carly, the first girl abducted, as the days tick by without her being found. Definitely a fast pace to this story, and plenty of danger to all involved. I appreciate having smart criminals who are hard to catch and guess the identity of!
Great book! I finished the book in one day! I'm ready to read the next book!
I couldn't put it down. I was eager to find out what happened next. Love this author!!! This is the 2nd book of hers for me to read. Ready to read another one.
I had no idea what the book would be like. However, what a great book. It was like no book I'd read before. Very intense!!! The FBI part was very different. Look forward to more from this author.
Not as suspenseful as some of her other stories but still a good read. I'm interested in reading about Josh's friends. Hopefully I get my hands on their books.
Really good beginning to this series. Very intense and kept me guessing. I look forward to reading the others in this series. Very intricate back story.
There is no Christmas joy for Patti Adams. Weeks before Christmas her teenage daughter Candace has gone missing. She is classified as a runaway but FBI agent Elise Richardson believes there is much more to her disappearance.
This book is action packed, full of suspense and a real page turner that will keep you riveted to each page as the story unfolds. There are many twists and turns along the way.
Josh Adams, a former Army Ranger returns to Westhaven, Mississippi to help assist in the investigation into his niece Candace's disappearance. He has his own tough past to deal with, but rooted in all of this is his deep faith and trust in God. He shares that with Elise who's faith is minimal at best. He shares that God has helped him in the dark places and he trusts in Him to guide his steps in life.
I loved seeing Elise and Josh's personalities come to life in this book. Elise was strong, independent and committed to her job no matter what the circumstances. Josh has a deep and caring heart but he has trouble putting the past behind him. Elise's faith in God and others is restored as she develops a relationship with Josh and Josh's ability to forgive past events is restored.
If you love suspense, a fast paced story and some romance too this is a great book to read!
Quivk, eady read. This is not the same old story, a girl has gone missing and no one but her uncle believes she didn't just run away. That changes when an FBI agent with ties to the girl's dead father comes to town working on a case of abducted girls. There is plenty of drama and confusion along the way but this is definitely a book worth reading.
A young girl is gone missing, her best friend Brooke Martin said she ran away. Her uncle Josh said she would not run away. No one believes him but FBI agent Elise Richardson. This story is about forgiveness and turning back to God. Josh wonderful were was God when some of the Army Rangers on his team died. Elise is blaming herself for Josh's brother Mac's death. Story has a few surprises. Looking forward to the story about the other Rangers.
"The first Rangers Under Fire story’s fast-paced action combines with numerous emotional scenes, making it difficult to put down! Finding true healing and trusting your gut are key in unraveling the mystery" (RT Book Reviews, 4 1/2 stars TOP PICK!).
Excellent book. I kept changing my mind as to who the suspect was. In the end I was wrong. This books keeps you thinking and wanting to read faster so you can see if you are correct. A must read for those of you who love to solve the puzzle.
