Ancient curses...family feuds...finding a happily ever after can be a real nightmare for the modern witch.

As the future prima, or head witch of her clan, Angela McAllister is expected to bond with her consort, her soul mate, during her twenty-first year, thus ensuring that she will come into her full powers at the appointed time. The clock is ticking down, and her consort has yet to make an appearance. Instead, her dreams are haunted by a man she’s never seen, the one she believes must be her intended match. But with time running out, and dark forces attempting to seize her powers for their own, Angela is faced with a terrible give up her dreams of the man she may never meet and take the safer path, or risk leaving her clan and everyone in it at the mercy of those who seek their ruin.

Kidnapped by a rival witch clan, Angela McAllister envisions a dark future for herself until she discovers her captor’s brother is the unknown man who has haunted her dreams since she was a child. Forced to re-evaluate everything she’s ever known about the Wilcox witches, Angela begins to explore the powerful connection that binds her to Connor Wilcox, despite the generations of hostility between their families and the disapproval of those closest to her. And when a dark, malignant force arises, Angela knows she must draw on her growing powers as prima to protect enemies and allies alike...even if her choice threatens to tear her new and fragile love apart.

One hundred and fifty years ago, a terrible curse descended on the Wilcox clan, dooming generations of women to an early death should they bear a child to the bloodline of Jeremiah Wilcox. Now Angela McAllister is carrying Connor Wilcox’s child, and if she can’t find a way to break the curse, that same doom will fall upon her. The solution to her dilemma lies somewhere in the past—her own, and that of the woman who cast the curse so many years before. Angela’s quest to find the answers she needs will transform the lives of everyone she knows, Wilcox and McAllister alike, and will forever change everything she has ever believed about herself.

The Witches of Cleopatra Hill is a paranormal romance series set in the haunted town of Jerome, Arizona.

A native of Southern California, Christine Pope has been writing stories ever since she commandeered her family’s Smith-Corona typewriter back in the sixth grade. Many reams of dead trees later, she’s happy to announce that her debut novel, Fringe Benefits, was published by Pink Petal Books on April 8, 2010. Her short fiction has appeared in Astonishing Adventures, Luna Station Quarterly, and the new journal of dark fiction, Dark Valentine. Her paranormal novella, Playing With Fire, was released on August 5, 2010.

While Fringe Benefits is a straight contemporary romance, she writes in a variety of genres, including paranormal romance, fantasy, horror, science fiction, and historical romance. She blames this on being easily distracted by bright, shiny objects, which could also account for the size of her shoe collection.

After spending many years in the magazine publishing industry, she now works as a freelance editor in addition to writing fiction. She lives with her husband and an explosively fluffy Pomeranian mix. Her house is pink, but don’t hold that against her.

Take away the witch stuff (and really, there is very little witch stuff, so you won't miss it), make a young women all important to everybody just due to her birth and you have the book. It is nice to read about parts of Arizona, but I could have picked up a travel guide for that. I was at least partially interested in Book 1 and 2, as I thought she would actually DO something rather than just redecorate her house. She doesn't help anyone but herself even though she is supposed to be a leader during a good chunk of the three books. Final gave up halfway through Book 3, since I didn't care about her and her problems anymore. If I want family drama, I will stick with my own family, thank you.

The Witches...

Good story line. Long drawn out story with too much description of fluff and circumstance. If I could’ve edited out all the extra fluff words, it would’ve been a great ‘page-turner’. Had to slog through several pages to get to the gist of the story. Seemed like a term paper that has a word count that had to be met.

Talk about gripping magic filled drama, young love and curses that last generations and wreak havoc, now that is more than enough to tantalise my reading pleasure.

Angela and Connor two very dynamic characters who were going to make fate happen no matter what even if they didn't realise it at first, as Angela's Aunt Rachel says everything happens for a reason and even though they had to go through a lot of drama to get to a Happily Ever After and at times I truly wondered if it would happen when forces of nature and magic seemed to be determined to keep them apart, this box set shows love really does conquer all.

It was a fun read. At times it seemed more like a tourism plug for Arizona rather than a story of clashing witch clans.

Predestined from birth future Prima, Angela McAllister, is just not feeling all that special about her 21st birthday. One of the major pluses for being selected to be a Prima of a Clan of Witches is that a Consort is selected for you, matching you with the perfect soulmate. Well it's just not working that way for this little orphaned child raised by her Aunt Rachel who does not see her as a grown woman ready to assume the grave responsibility for the McAllister Clan of witches. Angela has dreamed of her 'prince charming,' literally, for months. She knows he's tall, dark-haired, chiseled features and has gorgeous green-eyes. The couple have visited with each other in dreams, but everyone arranged to meet her and pass the 'kiss' test, as custom dictates, as feared does not prove to be her prince. What's a future Prima to do? She waits. Christine Pope does a good job of not making us wait to like the earthy nature of this underrated witch almost from the beginning of the book. Pope colors the setting of Jerome and it's touristy population of witches and friendly civilians living in a symbiotic community as long as you are not a Wilcox. And let the feud begin! Pope writes almost painterly brushing beautiful mental pictures of objects and landscapes into clear view. I've decided, I must read on . . . Book 4, SYMPATHETIC MAGIC, here I come!

Too slow

I did finish this series and was relieved when it was over. The main character was not likeable and apparently a 21 year old lush. Not a chapter went by without her wanting, needing wine...to the point of ridiculous.

I have read other Christine Pope books and liked them.... this one not so much.

Worthwhile trilogy for this series.

A thoughtful tale about an orphan witch brought up by her witch’s coven. Angela is the heir to the current head, or prima, of the McAllister coven. They practice the old ways of healing and helpful magic following the pagan calendar. Their leaders are always female and are chosen, following skills that are displayed in early youth.

The neighboring Wilcox clan is run by a man named Maddox, who has Angela in his sights to force a bonding on her to empower him to defeat the horrible curse placed on the lineage of the promise such that any female mates will never see their children grow up. Further, no females have been born to the clan for a hundred years!

In the meantime, Angela waits to find her intended mate, whose kiss will initiate an eternal bond between them. So far, the search has been fruitless, and she has kissed dozens of viable suitors. Where, indeed, can her beau be and why is he taking so long to show himself?

Very Addicting Plots

Looking for a consort, like in fairy tales of old, is still not easy even for a witch. With their Prima failing and Angela’s 22nd birthday approaching, there is a rush to get her consort found and her powers increased. However, she has been dreaming of the man for months and he still has not presented himself.
To make matters worse, there is a Warlock Clan that has tried once to kidnap a soon to be Prima so there is a Romeo and Juliet feel to the story.
This series throws quite a mix of myths at the reader and keeps you coming back with the cliff-hangers at the end of each book. Some sex, but easy to skip over, if that is not something you care for. Some profanity, but again easy to skip.

This is a paranormal romance and a fun read. Angela McAllister who becomes the new Prima, head witch of her clan must find her soulmate in the year of her 21st birthday, she has kissed a number of eligible men hoping to find the one she's been dreaming about to no avail. Time is running out for Angela as she will only gain her full powers if she connects with her consort. There is a hostility between the McAllister and Wilcox families, the Wilcox family is the only family with a Primus, a male as head of the clan. The other clans try to stay clear of the Wilcox's with their dark magic and a curse that has been placed on the family.
What will happen if the head of these two families somehow are thrown together?

Wow! Just finished the 3rd book! I can't decide which one was best! Once I finished the first one I immediately started the second, then the third! Wow, such a great love story! I'm in love with these books! The plots are fantastic, the characters are so real, the evil you can feel, love to hate the bad guy! But you also feel sorry for him, and can understand the conflict that Angela and Conner have over his death. The three books are excellent as stand alone, but you immediately want to read the next. Hope to find another book is going to continue their story as they have their family and combine their families into one clan! I can't tell you which one is the best because they all are excellent! Please read! You will love them!

I read until 58%, so the first two books. They were okay, but I really expected more magic, and less family drama. Yes, I wanted the Romeo and Juliet type stuff. But, y'know, WITH MAGIC. Not just dreams. It was boring. I sort of liked the characters, but was mostly just bored. Frankly, if I choose to read a witch book (and this one was literally called "Witches of Cleopatra Hill", so it was definitely witchy) I want magic. Not just the ritual stuff we saw the few times there WAS magic. So, basically this was lame. Sigh. Oh, also, the main character (her name was Angela or something stuffy like that) drank tons of wine which was kinda weird.

Couldn't put it down!

This was such a awesome series, so far with book's 1-3, that when I started reading it, i literally couldn't put it down, till i finished them. It has everything you need all wrapped up, with witches, warlocks, ghosts, magic and everything in between. There are twists and turns along the way, you never know where its going to lead you, that you are sitting on the edge of your seat, wondering what could possibly happen next? I loved it! So well written, cant wait to read more!

Great Stories!

I enjoyed reading these books very much. The writing style flower beautifully. The characters were interesting and fun. The stories were intriguing, and captured the imagination. And the last story had a wonderful "happy ever after," with plenty of options for more stories to come. Wonderfully done, Christine Pope! I thoroughly enjoyed your stories! Thank you!

Loved it!

Not gonna lie,the series got off to a very slow start and I set the book down for quite a while, but I came back and am I glad I did! I finished the first three books in two days! They are very good, I love the characters, and I was so glad to see that she had continued the story in other books. I look forward to reading them all. So four stars for the slow start, but the rest of it deserves all the accolades.

This entertaining story had strikingly attractive male characters, a spunky, clever, bewitching heroine, and a fascinating storyline that brought together supernatural elements of witches and warlocks and the unexplained magic of the Navajo culture. The vivid descriptions of the western
landscape added so much more to the story. I enjoyed every page of this wonderful surprising narrative with it highly emotional scenes and fast paced action. Great Read!!!!!

An excellent book to curl up with that invites you to enter a magical world that takes you on a journey that blends the magical world with the non-magical one we all live in. How very different yet similar the two worlds turn out to be. I am looking forward to reading all the other books from Christine Pope, who writes in such a way you hate to put her book down. Thank you, Christine Pope, for sharing such a wonderful story with us!

Enjoyable

I always enjoy getting the whole series together, A full story. It was likened to Romeo and Juliet, and the feud between their families. Similarly this was between 2 feuding witch / warlock families with a curse involved. The journey to find a destined true love and they are in the other clan. Finding their way to heal the curse and bring everyone together was an enjoyable journey. Full novel, no cliffhanger and a happily ever after.

Tearful and quite happy

Very well written. Seemed a little rushed in some areas but smoothed itself out very nicely. I would definitely recommend this series to any of my friends. This first kept me up consistently asking for more. I was not disappointed by any of the twists and turns it produced and I cannot wait to read more!

Fantastic

This book deserves to be a movie!!!! A tale of sorrow, facts gone wrong, love triangles mishaps, deaths and destruction but aso love. Great that the books came in a bundle so I didn't have to go and purchase them after I finished reading one. I definitely want to see what happens to Angela the next go round.

Awesome book

I thought when I starting reading this would be like other paranormal books,WOW was I wrong. This was a great book about the witches in Arizona. Totally fiction, very clean(which I enjoy). I truly enjoyed the third book about the history of the families involved. I would enjoy reading more books by this author. Bless you.

Enjoyable and well written. I'm getting the next book.

Well written and fast paced. I really enjoyed how well the characters were developed. You become part of the clan whether you consider yourself a McAlister or a Wilcox. Sort of a modern day Juliet and Romeo. I know It's backwards but you'll understand. Definitely a must read.

These were a nice surprise! The plot has some twists that are unexpected. There are some wonderful characters with great depth. We understand motivations and passions. The Arizona setting was fun since I'm familiar with Sedona and Flagstaff - it's always nice to visualize the setting. These didn't disappoint and I may buy the next set when I catch up on my pile of books.

Well worth the read

This series of 3 books have been very engrossing and very hard to put down , some of the plot you can sort of see coming but most of it was very very good and as I said very hard to put down. If you like this type of story line then you will defiantly like these.

It took me a while to get through them, I definitely skimmed over some parts and would cut straight to the dialogue a lot.... However I did really love this book series and really enjoyed many parts of it and the general storyline. I finally finished it a few days ago and have found myself still thinking about it. The series has a very good balance of romance, drama, adventure and suspense. I especially loved it when Angela would converse with ghosts.

Fantastic

Angela is her witch clans new prima, but she needs to find her consort. She has dreamed of him for years, but has not found him. As it nears a critical time, she is kidnapped by an enemy clan. From here on out is intrigue, twists and turns, and joy to read. I can't wait to read more about these witches.

Great books!

Were there some predictable surprises, sure. Did that stop me from fully immersing myself in these stories for hours on end? Heck no! Feuding witch clans going back for who knows how long, magic, rituals, romance? What’s not to enjoy? Can’t wait to read more in the series!

No

Just no. First book slow to nothing story wise. Second book, again slow with a “it had to be done/ so much for love” ending. Third book, I’m gonna guess slow again and hey spin-off cousin book. Truthfully, the tone of voice of the H&h was a like too teenage-y for the actual character ages. Or maybe just a bit too whiny. Would not recommend.

Fabulous Trilogy...!

WOW... What a great series this is... Well written with a great story, characters, and locations. Hard to put these books down! It does have adult sex scenes so I would recommend to adults only. Not all witches are bad... I loved this series and can't wait to read the next set with cousin Lucas and Elder Margot... 5 Stars from me! 😄
